  1. I picked up a KLX and a helium myself this morning. My understanding is they now use the same blank for the helium as the Z bone the only difference being the guide train. I haven’t fished a Kistler with the new Texas composites made blanks but $250 for a KLX and a helium and free shipping is a no-brainer.
  2. They did. have you seen the video ?
  3. Not yet, I think they are still a couple weeks out.
  4. I can't imagine needing a quote to buy fishing rods. In my heyday I bought/sold/traded 30 - 40 rods a year. A phone call and a pencil always worked for me.
  5. The sakamata shad is nice but the SK baby z too and the net bait prop duster are easy to find and work great. As to rods, Joe Burns (Cleveland Tn.) built me a really nice one at 7ft.1 it a good length for going down the guts of creeks. I also use a witch doctor shaman 6ft 6 and a 7ft. Yamamoto. I've heard some good things about a NFC blank that has a glass tip made just for the minner that might make a nice Christmas present to myself.
  6. As has been said that's 2 different rods. For the squarebill and medium divers I would go with a fury 705 cb. As a bonus you can fish poppers and jerkbaits with it. As to the DD22 and 6 XD, I used to fish those on a mojo glass. These days I feel like I can catch the same fish on baits that require a lot less effort on my part.
  7. I've learned you need at least 2 and preferably 3 rods with different weights at the ready. I'm no expert with FFS but I couldn't believe how much those rascals move around. You have to get it within a few feet of them fast or they will leave.
  8. No , the guys that were not responsible are starting a new shop
  9. Brian and Chad put up a video on the ALF elite fb page.
  10. If you like a more traditional look, you’ll like the Expride as opposed to the light saber looks of the Adrena. I have a 7‘2“heavy Expride and it’s a nice dragging rod . Big jigs, big worms, even big spinner baits .
  11. The Adrena is a nice rod . I personally don’t think it’s any more sensitive than the Zodias but they are well made.
  12. I’ve been in that position with a sudden job loss. It’s no fun. I’m so glad to see Brian and Chad land on their feet with this new shop. They are two class guys.
  13. Having been a Falcon guy for 20 + years this got me thinking . If I were starting over or just wanted a new rod would I still choose a Cara over a Helium at $249 or an Expert over a KLX at $199 ? Probably not . Kistler is back to an American blank manufacturer, Texas forge or something like that . IMHO the Cara T7’s were the best rods Falcon ever made .
  14. Did I miss something? Have they changed blank suppliers again ?
  15. Yes , you can.
  16. Back when we had the 18 foot 150 hp rule most other pleasure boats were about the same size. Now you’re out there among offshore boats , cruisers, and 40 foot yachts on Table Rock and LOZ is just flat dangerous . My 20 foot 225 horse Skeeter will outrun my old 18 foot champion with a 175 but not by much.
  17. I got an email from GSM right after they acquired Dobyns saying they only wanted people with a certain amount of social media presence. I knew I was done but honestly, I don’t really care even with the pro staff discount when you add back in the shipping I could almost get as good deal through ALF by trading some of my old rods and picking up some new ones. Anyway, Dobyns still makes the best moving bait actions going and if I needed a new tiptop guide, I would just go buy one.
  18. DQ

He drove back-and-forth from his house every day, so all he really had to cover was entry fees and fuel. In any case, he should’ve known better.
  19. DQ

He got a 25th place check. He forfeited his third day catch $ 2500
  20. DQ

Well, At least he didn’t get DQed from a the tournament, just the final day so he still cashed a decent check.
  21. I noticed you were taking some heat over the same kind of stuff over on the other forum.
  22. I still have 2. A BCM 6 and a Zell Rowland TWS . The TWS would bring $ 100 or so.Even by today’s standards it’s a great popper/ spook jr. rod
  23. First of all in that case I want the rod The guy upfront on the trolling motor has a much better chance of getting it loose than standing in the back of the boat.. I will banjo it a few times and give it a try as long as it’s not 15 feet up a tree or so shallow that boat/ trolling motor would drag.
  24. For more expensive stuff like rods and reels I shop around or make a couple phone calls. For a bag of plastics or hard baits it is what it is.
