  1. I like all three sizes of the Red eye shad. The 3/4 for about 20 foot. the 1/2 for 10 to 20 foot and the little one shallower. I've had some very exciting days throwing the little one on flats and catching a mixture of whites, blue cats, channels, drum and walleye. I'm talking 100 fish days. Those channels will absolutely smash it.
  2. Excluding this past season , a lot of my largest bass the last several years have been caught working a red eye shad like a worm on points 10 to 20 foot deep.
  3. I rarely throw a Carolina rig anymore. At one time I used it to cover deep water quickly by using a 3/4 oz weight. I worked my way around big flats and points searching for strikes. I have all but abandoned that style.
  4. Mike Tyson should fight Rosie Perez next.
  5. I havent been hooking more but have not landed any.Caught one five lber early on, a bunch of fours and several big ones that came off.
  6. I didnt have access to ponds , fished the Mississippi and some back waters a lot. Rode my bike to these places and fished mainly with crappie jigs. Caught white bass and crappie mostly but would get the occasional largemouth, smallmouth or walleye. My rod n reels were horrid , didnt cast very far so did a lot of diddling around rip rap , bridges and whatever brush I could find.
  7. Theres a decent point on the east , between the two coves, that I would check out every time. Also those two coves should hold a lot of spawning bass in the spring. Coves that lead to points have been good to me in all phases of the spawn.
  8. Dont get locked into doing something because that is the way its suppose to be done. Br open minded.
  9. Heres a different technique that has worked for me in the past . I take swimbait on a jighead, cast out , let it settle then lift it several feet. Instead of letting it drop back down, I keep the rod high on a tight line and allow the bait to pendulum back .
  10. There is the Ozark"Hover" rig that is suppose to glide. Might be the next best thing at the moment..
  11. Those thing actually work. People made fun of them because of the cheesy infomercial . I still have some and have one rigged and ready for my next trip because of your post. I even have the two spinnerbaits that came with the kit but never caught anything with it.
  12. Fish cover. Get lures in there and fish it thoroughly. There are lures that work well in it. Make good ,quiet presentations. Pitching , underhand roll cast...You might have to use a different weight lure to make those cast.
  13. Save some money, use mono, change it often.
  14. 100 percent of you will disagree with me. I used chatterbaits a lot this past year , tried several trailers. I kept losing fish. about 50 percent. Quit using trailers and landed almost 100 per cent. I dont use trailers at all now. They work without them and no hunk of plastic to interfere with hookups.
  15. I have several I dont use. Probably never will. I also have the Mepps minnow spinnerbait. Dont use them either . If you want them I'll ship then to you.
  16. Sometimes there will be bass on the bottom under the shad waiting for injured fish to sink. I have caught a lot of bass by letting a lipless, plastic worm or whatever I have rigged up sink through the school to the bottom . Might have a big old catfish hammer the lure , which is always a fun time.
  17. Now , I wear my retirement watch.
  18. If I did know I guarantee I would set the hook to soon and miss almost everyone of them.
  19. I throw them a lot and only use a trailer if I want a little extra weight, then I'll use half a dinger. Cant remember the last time I used a trailer hook. I have my favorite color skirts and blades but everybody has different favorites . I'll use bright some days and dull others. Black at night.
  20. I texas rig all soft plastics, They all catch fish. I'll even Texas rig a Ned with a 5/16th oz weight on casting gear and flip it in bushes, did so yesterday.
  21. Never seen that flick. Is it pretty good?
  22. Might be the most consistent cover I ever fished. That and culverts.
  23. I fish alone mainly because none of my friends are into bass fishing. They fish a few hours with their zebco 33's and become bored by not catching fish.
  24. I dont have a favorite brand. Rarely use a trailer. The willow/Colorado combo gets thrown most. Havent lost one in years. Like everyone else says and stressed in Glenns video, casting is the key.
  25. I'm guessing a combination of the hook being buried in the plastic and not enough backbone in the rod.
