I don't know about 'most natural'. You can't say something that's black/chartreuse with red flake is natural looking. I think Net Bait's Paca color 'Perfection' is close to getting it right. Yum's Crawbug's "Crawdad" does too. There are lots that are more natural. I'm not saying it doesn't catch fish, I'm just saying it's not that 'natural'. I don't fish black neon often. Actually, the only time I throw black/chart. color is on crappie sliders. If you're talking about the color black neon being black with red flake, I don't think it catches any more fish than solid black.
  2. I grabbed a H and a M. Thanks for the heads up!
  3. I'll make my wife mad, but when I sell my smaller boat this spring, I'm going to get a tackle stand and put all my plastics in 3701s....and buy new electronics for the bigger boat. (She doesn't have to know about that).
  4. Whatever you do don't take it to that A-hole on Interstate Drive. I won't give him any business. Go talk to the guys at the Merc. repair shop past the theater on Jefferson towards 111. I checked around on iboats looking at that motor you've got the hard part, the right hub. The force gearcase is just bigger. http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Force/120_HP_%281995-1996%29_19.00-Pitch_Propellers/194/ There you go! Make sure your motor is the 15 spline thru hub exhaust!
  5. *** seems to be super popular. So do Bass Pro Carbonlites. I've not fished them. In the $100 range, I love the Okuma EVX. Light, great action, and good looking. I mentioned this in your other rod thread Don't discount St. Croix Mojos either.
  6. I fish tailwaters loads. People love fishing for trout on the Caney Fork. People will add weights to spoons to get them down into the generation waters. I once caught a MASS of silver spoons and lines that had formed at the generator. There were 9 spoons, lots of line, weights and one nameless jerkbait. I thought that was weird.
  7. I make a few $50 purchases at Tackle Warehouse throughout the year, 3 this year. I'll probably make another TW order during the holiday savings. I've probably spent $150 bucks between Dick's and Academy this year. They had some killer sales! I've probably spent $250 at Bass Pro this year. My local store usually gets $20 bucks from me a week for 9 months out of the year. I've bought a few things off the forums. I've bought some things from forum sponsers. I spread it out pretty well I think. I buy stuff I need or want when it's on sale usually.

Net Bait Paca Chunks, Havoc Subwoofers, Zoom Fat Alberts, Strike King Rage Craws
  9. I don't know how it is elsewhere, but at my local shop Okuma and Shimano are the only over the counter warranty's around. I really like the Okuma EVX's.
  10. I know some anglers use it. May have to hold your rod up to keep the spinner near the surface of the water. I fish braid to mono for all my topwater/shallow stuff. Spinnerbaits expecially. I like mono for the stretch. I can whip it out when it I get hung too.
  11. The Subwoofer is the clear winner in the Havoc Lineup. It's the only thing like it out there! Love 'em. As for their other offerings, I catch more fish on Zoom, Reaction Innovations, Keitech, Netbait and RageTail. I'll admit, their price can't be beat!

I use them on Dale Hollow some. Someone local makes them for our tackle shops. They are like $5.00 for two. I've had good luck with them!
  13. I pretty much only throw Rattling Rogues now. Although, trout around here love blue/chrome/orange Husky Jerks. I don't ever mess with the Husky Jerks or Rattling Rogues. The swift current at tailwaters messes with the action anyway. Smithwick's tend to suspend better out of the box than most anything I've tried. They are good enough, they are nearly the only jerkbait I use.
  14. Cursory internet searches will show most people what they need to know. For every person I've met that's loved their Tracker/Nitro there's another that wishes they had something else. I don't care whether it's any stigma associated with the company or that they are truly unsatisfied. Don't care. I'm going to be sure that my money is well spent. The previously mentioned internet search would make me hesitate to purchase one. I'd rather not have that kind of doubt when purchasing something that valuable. Many people still buy some car manufacturer's vehicles day in and day out - even though reliability indexes show that they are much worse than other manufacturer's offerings. That's a bad bet. I don't have the luxury of gambling with my money. You may luck out, you may not. I'm not going to make that bet.
  15. I'm all about plain pumpkin (pumpkinseed) or motoroil worms/flukes/subwoofers and PBJ color jigs for swimming.
  16. I don't have much confidence in jigs other than swim jigs. Almost any time most others would fish a jig, I either fish a weightless brush hog or t-rigged craw/hog/beaver of some sort. I did just take advantage of the Siebert Jigs, I'm gonna really give it the sporting chance this spring and not take anything but jigs.
  17. Buying a Nitro or a Tracker is the equivalent of buying a car from Wal-Mart. I know many other's will disagree, but they depreciate the fastest and there are more of them for sale in my area than any other manufacturer by about 3x. There's got to be a reason for that. Again, your mileage may vary.
  18. For the sake of easiness and being able to buy the same stuff all the time, I use 12 LB mono as backing on all my BCs. Then 12 fluoro on my topwater/shallow cranks/squarebills. 12 LB Berkley Trilene is similar diameter to the 50LB Power Pro I use. 12 LB Mono to 50 LB Braid to 12 Mono = Topwater/Squarebills/Buzzbaits/weightless Flukes 12 LB Mono to 50 LB Braid to 17 LB Fluoro = Cranks/Jigs/Spinners/Chatters/T-Rigs Spin reels get 8 lb fluoro for drop shotting. I only have to mess with 4 different lines spools of line. It works for me. If anyone is interested, I use 12 LB Berkley Trilene Mono, 50 Lb Power Pro Braid, 17 Seaguar Red Label Fluoro.
  19. I've liked all the FCs I've used thus far with the exception being Berkley Vanish. Don't like it at all. I've not fished much copolys.
  20. Welcome! I'm in Cookeville. I fish Center hill and the caney all the time!
  21. Ordered!
  22. I've got some red sliders that I found that have to be 20 years old. They were left in a bag that didn't zip too. Look almost new. May not be true for every brand, but I've got zoom and slider stuff that's getting close to decades old.
  23. All my BCs have braid and similar diameter flouro or mono. I don't want to waste braid. It's actually cheaper to do it this way too. 30 bucks will spool three baitcasters. A 300 yard spool of 12 lb test is like 8 bucks. Fluoro is like 15-20. Those spools used just as leader will last a very long time. Braid lasts a very long time too.
  24. WRB, Those are popping up all over my local shops now.
  25. Well said!
