  1. It makes me feel better, and that oughta count for something.
  2. Similar hooks have existed with a loop in place of the clip (Nogales, for example), meaning a specialized weight like a Grenade. This hook allows us to use the Free Rig weights that we're carrying already. This is good. The clip looks similar to the RPZ Talisman and you can't find that anywhere. A more widely available option is good. I might want a little more weedguard but it's a nice looking hook. Good for Dice and Raid 2way.
  3. Ymmv, but my frog success went up after a couple of things: Proper rod. More Moderate. Give the Broomstick to the ex. 🧙 Proper frog. Soft. Good hooks. Spro in the garbage. Scum Frog and Teckels are my favorites but others work. Every bite is different. Sometimes its immediate and they hook themselves. Other times you have to wait a beat or two before swinging. Determine if they're actually eating it, as opposed to slapping, killing, kissing, etc. If they aren't committing properly, change color, size, retrieve, something. Hope some of this helps.
  4. OSP Blitz or Blitz MR. 2", deflects well, high float, unfortunately $25.
  5. Remember the show, Deal or No Deal? We're at No Deal.
  6. Nothing wrong with a nice rod for frogs. I have a couple: Megabass Black Jungle Power Versatile: dope. Fishes a little long, since it has a shorter handle. Mat frog rod. Hard to find, and there are more refined options since the 2016 Black Jungle series. Megabass Valkyrie 71H: dope. Don't let the glass composite fool you; power to set but bend to keep them pinned under the pads. Down-wrapped guides are awesome. Little clunky to walk but not bad. Hookset and landing performance makes up for it. Possible to still find one, but again, more refined options are available. X10 Swamp Survivor: dope, now with organic fibers. This doubles as my short punch rod. Best for a larger frog, but will handle a Scum Frog Launch 🐸 just fine. X10 in general needs more love. I've left out the P5 Super Destroyer and similar since you need more power. Super Destroyer does a Hell of a job with a Kaera though. Also some may suggest X10 Bushadder; I find the tip too soft and the bend too deep; struggled with hooksets. Great big treble and dragging rod though. The thread may now return to posts about how you don't need a nice rod to frog with.
  7. Something with some bend to it. ALX BMJ, P5 Super Destroyer, X10 Bushadder, Adrena 73MH. All good. Always fluorocarbon. If we're talking Grass Piece, less bend, more fast. Spinnerbait rod, basically.
  8. I like compact, but not necessarily light, jigs for flipping and dragging. OSP Zero One, Beast Coast Baby Dozer, etc. Finally given up on Keitech footballs after dumping too many fish. Currently trailering Bellows Craw. Fat Impact is also good on a Football. I only downsize vibrating jigs when targeting smallmouth or pressured fish, and even then I'm probably just dropping trailer size.
  9. Hey thanks for this, works and stacked with 20% off for Father's Day. Got some Jackhammers and Flashy Swimmers.
  10. You're asking a lot of one rod. I do not have the B, but I have the 72HA. It is a jig and worm rod without a lot of versatility. Powerful and sensitive but not a lot of tip or bend. I launched bass out of the water on frog hooksets. Fun, but not productive. Would never imagine throwing a bladed jig on it. Whatever cross carbon weave Shimloomis is doing seems to be adding a lot of strength, power, and sensitivity while sacrificing bend or taper. See: NRX+. I do pretty much what you're describing on a couple of rods: ALX BMJ and the P5 Super Destroyer, with the caveat that I don't use a heavy weight with big worms. Both rods struggle a little bit with driving frog hooks or getting them out of deep cover. Otherwise, handles the spread real well. The Super Destroyer is above the price range but the BMJ is right there, maybe just a bit more. Hope this helps.
  11. I get you, but I can also cram a bunch of crap into a 3600 box. Also the thirty bags of soft plastics. The frogs. The pile of spinnerbaits. The rat, for some reason. Ten different strolling head weights. You see where this is going. The Evolution backpack does a pretty good job of containing the madness.
  12. I require thirteen jerkbaits. Your mileage may vary!
  13. My bank fishing backpack weighs 19 lbs. I am not the right person to answer this. Look at what the Japanese guys are doing. Okappari style fishing. Two ish rods and a hip pack or messenger bag. It's beautiful (but could never be me).
  14. Yum, AI slop. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to downvote it. It's fairly common knowledge that a lot of brands come from the same OEM (Doyo, Banax, etc).
  15. It is a nightmare for a small business that imports stuff.
  16. Don't worry, they made it more difficult to buy from Japan too.
  17. Even if magnet is "always on", does it matter? Probably not. The current SVS system is very good when combined with the newer MGL spools. I like them and will continue to buy Bantams if I develop the need for more Bantam. But my SV Boost Zillion hangs with them.
  18. Yeah turn a Daiwa brake to 0 and tell me it's "always on" 😅
  19. Ugh ain't that the truth. I need a solid tip rod badly but I'm already grumpy with the 5 rods I take.
  20. The 80 is great. More Mag Z reels!
  21. Spinnerbaits and bladed jigs would be different rods, ideally. Spinnerbaits fish just fine on jig/worm style tapers. I think of bladed jigs like a big squarebill; I want power but some bend. However I don't have that luxury, so everything goes on the Super Destroyer, and it goes mostly fine.
  22. Whenever summer decides to arrive: Frog Punch Bubba shot Amen.
  23. When SV is good, it's good. Zillion SV? Rocket launcher. Tatula 100 SV? Skipping reel destined for skipping. You want to cast? For any sort of distance? How dare you. I do hear that the new 150 SV is impressive though. The newer MGL spools have unlocked something in SVS. '22 Bantam casts forever and handles relatively lighter weights. I think Mag Z is my favorite still. The Tatula 80 might be the perfect 10-12 lb fluoro reel.
  24. Hedgehog Air bearings are worth the money for me. ZPI too but those are less readily available. I get them from Tackle Trap usually. BOCA bearings are loud (don't mind) and their quality control sucks (do mind). If you're going to spend money, spend money.
  25. Weird spring in SE Michigan. Warm, stable weather here finally? Maybe? Not great for numbers, but I've already caught several green fish north of 4 lbs. Sick of strolling. Give me a frog.
