Reasonable questions with good info on the assumptions..... When I went to kayak fishing full time, I did undergo a bit of a shift. For improved hooksets, I started to prefer faster tips and braid. I don't think it was from vessel movement as much as it was partial loss of control of angles. From a boat, I never had to set the hook on a fish behind me. But wind and current put you in some crazy angles sometimes when you fish from a kayak

Dunno...but almost certainly Rage Tail. Except for a blade bait, a Keithech SI, and a couple jig fish, all my best fish were on SKRT (Thumper, CutR, Bug)

Agree they resemble Gene Larew's swimbaits. Chasebaits makes a curly tail ribbed minnow. Not same, but similar.

Hated drop shot fishing until i started using Owner SSW Needle Points. Hook up ratio went up dramatically. A huge bonus is that I can fish them nose hooked in brush and laydowns. The shape makes them a lot less snaggy than others, even circle hooks. Fish tend to hook themselves and stay hooked.

Braid to leader in most. YoZuri Hybrid for most leaders. Straight fluoro on some. Straight braid on a couple. Three main reasons I use leader on most braid applications: - I don't consume braid when I re-tie or change lures. - I can break off, if I need to. - Better abrasion resistance. I'm still using 18# to fluoro leader on a couple spinning rods. Having a leader eliminates nearly all the fraying and longetivity problems for me.

Good idea! Most days. But, I'm gonna have to put some beef in the freezer, too. Not sure my wife is all too willing to eat skunk My folks also bought a huge freezer and started buying a side of beef every year.....for decades. They'd also buy a truckload of sweetcorn and get it dumped in the driveway. We'd shuck it and cut it off the cobs and freeze it. We had (nearly) fresh sweet corn year round.

I have Bill Lewis floaters, mostly silver and blue. My wife likes them because she doesn't want to mess with grass on traps. I like them when distance between top of grass and surface is tight. I now use chatterbait most of the time, but there are times....especially mid day, mid summer....when a blue-silver trap run over weeds, near the surface is exactly what they want.

Good point. There are different species of skunk...I'm not a fan of any of them. 1. No fish. At all. Even if you just spend 20 minutes on the bank. 2. No bass...but maybe 4 crappie, one pike, and a 20# catfish. 3. A couple of hookups...both lost at the boat. 4. Tournament day: six 11 inch bass when the minimum is 12. I might refer to all of those as a skunk

Not with a fluke...I only fish flukes weightless... But, I have used this hook with creatures and paddletails. I am an Owner fanatic....love, love love their hooks....and yet, this isn't my favorite. I found that hookups just weren't great unless I bend the point out a bit. Fine line between getting the point up without creating a snag magnet. This is one of the few applications where I'm more likely to recommend a Gammy

I probably use it most out at the ends of laydowns. After I've beaten it up with jigs and spinnerbaits and Trigs, I park out over the crown if depths are good. Put a DS down and pick off a couple more....oftentimes good ones.

Completely depends on the situation. If I don't boat a legal fish in a tournament on one of my 'home' waters, I do not handle it very well. I agonize over every decision for days and get pretty sullen. If I get skunked on a practice day, or 'fun fishing day', I take it in stride and learn from it.

Seems like decent video....cannot corroborate any of it yet, but..... May make sense....essentially, first place to start looking is where current or prevailing winds are coming up slopes I never put much thought into the occasional shell on a hook. In fact, I am usually more upset a fouled retrieve, than I am thinking about the significance of that shell having been there. I suppose it is time to add shell identification to the list of things I should get better at

Maybe...maybe not. I agree with you and @gimruis. But I can understand that an owner might strongly disagree. If an owner said his goal was "to win a Superbowl within 4 years, and our best chance of doing that is by going 2-15 this year....instead of 4-13".....well, I may not approve, but I don't think it'd be irrational.

Funny. I considered making the exact same post recently after watching someone (maybe The Moment guy?) . It's one thing standing on a casting deck in clear water. But I am most often seated in a kayak in low viz water. Never seen a 'large' shell area

My dad was a hockey player from MN and I tried for years to really get into it. Enjoyed going to college and minor league games, but watching on TV 40-50 years ago on 19 inch tube broadcast television was near impossible. Slightly different experience on a 70" HDTV. American women sure look impressive so far. Another random thought....the woman doing color for curling is incredibly awful...no understanding at all how to offer analysis to someone like me who doesn't have a clue about the sport. The play by play guy keeps trying to draw something useful out of her, but she hasn't decided to add any value yet...unless you are a curling fanatic

I love Sieberts. The only jigs I use anymore. The Zeniths are some of the best shaky heads available. The swimbait heads are awesome. The tungsten and plastics prices are VERY competitive.
