I would agree with your ranges RW. I suspect folks just getting into fishing or the casual fisherperson may view any combo over $75 to $100 as high end. I know that was true with me. The bait monkey just hasn't figured out where they live yet. ;D

I think overkill is different for each of us depending on finances and how much you enjoy owning expesive gear. Expensive gear is always nice and "helps" one to be more successful but the fisherman's skill is always going to have the biggest effect on catching fish. The bait monkey told me there is no such thing as overkill regarding fishing stuff ;D

I guess ones perspective on if he was lying or not all depends on if you are a Bama Fan or a Dolphins fan........then there's Don Shula's own perspective.....as a Vol fan I say its a pile of money most of us wouldn't turn down, now it just remains to be seen if he can do at Bama what he did at LSU.....guess he better for all that $$$$$$$

Hey Matt, Although it was a good game I didn't think the Tennessee vs South Carolina game was all that great this year Sorry couldn't resist....that was another game for the ages with more at stake......and we do love Mr Vince in Tennessee!!!!!

Jr Basser.....you have some very good advice from two experienced and very knowledgeable fisherman. I have on many occasion followed the recommendations of these two fellows. It has saved me from making some poor uninformed decicions which = money saved. I will also say that I have always been very happy with my purchases that were recommended by them. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in based on my actual experiences. Food for thought...........

I fish in TN and KY. Both states expire the end of February. In February I'll be buying those and one for TX for the Fork trip.....does the bait monkey have something to do with this?????? ;D ;D

Thank you Gman....this will be very helpful to me. I fish a small lake just outside Nashville where jigs are supposed to be best. I just never have used them much......will be trying it more this year though.

I agree with RW, I think if one is going to start with a spin cast set up RW's original list is plenty. If the next step is a regular spinning set up I think this would be the time and better suited for soft plastics as it would be more sensitive to enable better presentations and feeling bites.

Good luck tonight Fisher......My Vols played Cal first game of the season and we took em to the woodshed. I don't think they were ready for us or the big 100,000 + crowd. They certainly are better than they showed that day but I always like a big win in Knoxville, makes the drive home so much more fun!. The word on em then was a strong running game. They looked the part but didn't show it to us that day.
