How long did the package take to get to you? Customs has been charging $30 a day for “storing” packages. I can’t find anything regarding de minimis being revoked. Other people have had orders delivered the past week with no extra charges. I’ve spent way more time researching this than I should have but to me, this looks like a DHL/customs mistake. We’re all human and we all make mistakes. I’m sure customs is up to their eyebrows in packages right now. Hope you get it sorted out. If you don’t mind, I’d appreciate it if you could post what you find out. I’m very curious as to what’s going on.

Who told you de minimis no longer applies? I think someone at customs messed up. Edit: I’ve been digging into this more and it seems to be a DHL problem. If you do some research on google you’ll see a lot of people having the same issue but only with DHL.

@FishTank how much was the total order? If the order was under $800 it would be subject to de minimus and shouldn’t be charged anything extra. Either the total order was over $800, or it originated from China or at least customs mistakenly believes that. Bottom line, nothing under $800 is impacted by any extra fees unless it’s from China/Hong Kong.

This is still showing the original tariff rates. Tariffs have been paused so Japan should only be 10% not 24%. This stuff is too confusing for me.

I’m considering getting a new jig/T-rig rod to replace my Dobyn’s champion extreme 745. The power pitch is a couple inches shorter but has the same lure weight rating as the 745. I don’t have a problem with my 745, but I figured I could repurpose it with braid as a punching/frog rod and the power pitch would get the 25lb tatsu I normally use on the 745. So, my question is, how much more sensitive is the steez AGS power pitch compared to my Dobyn’s 745? I know sensitivity is subjective, but anyone with opinions would be much appreciated!

Ah, ok. I did google it but all I saw were spinning reels in the “coresolid” section. https://fish.shimano.com/en-GB/content/c/Coresolid.html I’ll have to do some more digging.

Is coresolid only on Shimano spinning reels? Can you explain what it is and what benefits it gives? I’m unfamiliar with it.

Thanks. The champion extreme 745 is rated 3/8-1 1/2oz just like what you use so I think I’ll just stick with it. I don’t get to punch as often as I’d like anyways. Only difference is I use 25lb tatsu FC instead of braid. Yes, I know a lot of you will call me crazy. 😁

Expride recommendations.

I wanna try the owner twist lock hooks with these. Anyone try them? What size hook would be good for the regular and what size for the magnum?

So to preface this, I’ve been a Dobyn’s guy for a while and I like longer rods. Particularly 7’3-7’4ish. This is because I place casting distance high on my list of priorities. I see the Expride B recommended a lot and would like to try one or two but what I’ve noticed is there aren’t many models that fit my preferences. One thing is that I’ve heard the Expride are a little stiff for their rating. For instance, for a weightless 5” senko rod, it seems a medium heavy would be too stiff based on what I’ve read. However, if I look for mediums they only have short rods or rods with a moderate action. Obviously I don’t want a moderate action for senkos and I also don’t want to sacrifice casting distance with a shorter rod. Am I overthinking the casting distance “issue”? Does the rods action matter more than length? With all that said, what would you recommend for a 5” weightless senko rod? Also what would be a good choice for 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits and spinnerbaits? Thanks!

I use a Dobyn’s champ extreme 745 (7’4 mag heavy) as my T-rig/jig rod and also punch with it once in a while. I’ve never used a rod over 7’4 but I’ve thought about purchasing a dedicated punching rod. Like others have said though, it seems that punching opportunities are becoming less common so I’m unsure if it’s worth it. What rods do you use for punching? What power/lure weight rating?

Nice! How were you fishing them? Wow. The 2/0 being the same size as a 4/0 or 5/0 is wild. I wish hook sizes were better standardized.

That’s interesting. It seems we’re in the same area and I don’t have much luck with the rage craw. Beavers like the D bomb and the sweet beaver work much better for me. What colors do you usually use? Back on topic: Anyone use straight shank worm hooks for speed worms? Wait… isn’t that what we’re talking about with the UV speed worm? I just assume if you’re fishing a speed worm you’re swimming it!

I use it with braid and fc. I use tatsu fc which is expensive so using backing makes the 1000yd spool last a lot longer.

A 2/0 hook? I find even a 3/0 hook is too small for these. I end up with so many fish completely missing the hook. Do you don’t peg the weight on the magnum? What weight do you normally use with the magnum?
