  1. That’s a cool skirt. Living rubber and silicone, right? What brand jig? Ohhh I like this! And the superbug d bomb is my favorite beaver! Match made in heaven.
  2. How does a free rig do in vegetation? What are some good brands of weights to start with? I normally use a flipping hook for T-rigs, should I use a different hook for the free rig?
  3. De minimis is still in place and the tariffs on Japan (and all countries bar China/Hong Kong) are paused until July 9th or 10th. Prices on rods, tackle etc made in China will be going up substantially between May 27th and June 1st. Most tackle, rods etc. are made in China. Unless something changes, this hobby is about to become significantly more expensive.
  4. I really need to try this. I usually fish a 3/8oz tungsten t-rig, what weights should I start with for a free rig?
  5. @WRBdo you have any of the Okuma x series rods? If so I’d love to know which models and what they’re like!
  6. I’m curious what hooks you all use on flukes and fluke style baits. I normally use ewg but I’ve been experimenting with owner twistlocks and like them quite a bit.
  7. Never use a chunk is south Florida. Water never gets cold enough. I will use a beaver when I want less action though.
  8. Yep. If my understanding is correct, they’re going to see how it works on China and HK and see if it’s feasible to remove it globally. Hopefully they decide it’s not feasible.
  9. This. I love the black and blue/green pumpkin mix.
  10. The problem is there is so little information on the power/taper of these rods. I’m debating between a Dobyn’s champ extreme hp 744 vs an Okuma x series 7’5 MH for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. I’m trying to figure out how they compare as far as power/taper/castability/sensitivity etc. Not to mention tackle warehouse has the specs wrong. They list the 7’5mh as 1/4-1/2oz lures while Okuma says 1/4-3/4 for the same rod.
  11. That sucks. How much would duties be on something like a 350 dollar reel?
  12. I spoke to a rep at Okuma. Apparently tackle warehouse has it listed wrong. The 7’5 mh is 1/4-3/4oz NOT 1/4-1/2oz. The rep told me the 7’3 heavy wouldn’t be a good rod for 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits and spinnerbaits and that the 7’5 mh would be a good choice for those baits. So… does anyone have the 7’5 mh? 😁 I’m hoping it will work well with 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. I’m really curious how the taper is.
  13. Anyone have the 7’3 heavy fast? I’m wondering how it would work for 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits, spinnerbaits etc.
  14. I should have said “rigged which ways?” 😁
  15. I like a T-rigged trick worm or even the magnum trick worm. I don’t usually use the finesse worm because I assume they would be too light to throw on a baitcaster.
  16. I can’t speak for the others but for me I poke the point out and then gently slide it backwards back into the bait. Then run my finger up the bait to make sure the hook point isn’t exposed, but right below the surface.
  17. I’m accepting donations. 😁 Just saying.
  18. I’m really finding myself more and more interested in this rod as time passes. One thing, are the guides titanium? I was thinking of getting a Dobyn’s champ extreme 744 for 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits and spinnerbaits but now I’m thinking the Okuma x series 7’3 heavy might be the ticket. Anyone know what the taper is like on these rods? I know Dobyn’s are almost a mod fast and I like that for chatterbaits/spinnerbaits. How fast are the various Okuma’s? Would the 7’3 heavy fast be a good choice for 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits/spinnerbaits instead of the Dobyn’s champ extreme 744?
  19. Okuma x series rods have lifetime warranties.
  20. So I’m interested in buying a new dedicated weightless senko/fluke etc rod and I like these. I was looking at the 7’5 mh fast and it has an odd lure rating range of 1/4-1/2oz. That seems like an awfully narrow range of weight. In any case, does anyone have experience with this model? Anyone have any idea how it would work for weightless plastics?
  21. Curious to hear opinions on this rod vs the new Okuma x.
  22. the x bites is the one I’m interested in. This is the first time I’ve heard of them having this reputation. I’ll definitely have to do some more digging to look into it.
  23. No love for the megabass p5? You can get them from Japanese retailers for quite a bit cheaper than US prices. You have the Okuma x and the 745 extreme? How do they compare?
  24. Thank you! Yeah the snakeheads are tricky. We have a couple small retention ponds here and in the summer when the water gets high, snakeheads show up to spawn. They’re hard to catch when they’re in the spawning mood.
