^^^^This. Brick and mortar stores can't compete with the internet when it comes to prices. Its cheaper to have one warehouse and ship from there than have 40 stores that would cost 40x the amount and keep an online presence at the same time. Its the way of the new economy.

I use mono (no leader) in rivers cause I know I'm gonna get snagged in places I can't reach. Mono allows me to break the line. In lakes its different. I fish clear lakes with mono or braid (no leader) cause I can get to my lure or above it with my canoe and get it unstuck. I've seen no difference in catch rates. The times I've had to try a leader have not been good. Even with a uni-uni knot I've had decreased casting distance and occasionally the knot has stopped a cast dead. Add to that the fact, as stated in other posts, that more knots is more chances at a break gives me enough reason to just not fish a leader. I understand why tournament guys use it but I just fish for fun and ain't nothing fun about a good fish breaking off.

Heard about a few GMs stores closing. Its a shame because occasionally they had good sales going on. Use to stop at one every time I went down Harrisburg way. I liked their store brand soft plastic baits more than most.

Try this. Its a J.W. Fisher Sealion 2. It says you can locate, inspect and video tape underwater without you having to go underwater. It has 4 high speed motors, a 2200 lumen LED light, front and rear facing cameras with tilt and pan options and is rated for a depth of 1000 ft. Its only $29,995 U.S. but maybe you can find it on ebay cheaper. But seriously, fishing late in the evening and early in the morning with soft plastics and topwater baits should let you know if there are bass in the lake. Go luck.

This has got to be one of the weirdest winters we have ever had in PA. Today the high is 55 degrees. About 20 degrees higher than the average temp for this time of year. Just watched the weather and they say we should get anywhere between 4" and 12" of snow between midnight tonight and noon tomorrow. Bizarre indeed.

The fact that just now they are offering a reward to help stop the problem of asian carp shows how ineffective government actually is. This is not a recent problem. Asian carp were imported as early as the 70's. Ten years ago the Department of the Interior declare asian carp as "injurious" what ever that means. They have hemmed and hawed about this for more than a decade and only managed to pass the buck to states. Now the states are forced to take action that the federal government won't.

Honestly I only have 3 colors of jigs. Green, black and brown. To me a jig is just the delivery system for the trailer. Color doesn't matter as much as weight.

Just found your thread. Went to the show saturday and I can tell ya there isn't much there for fishing. Maybe 6 or 7 places selling lures and not many good deals. Megastrike has a booth which is fun to check out. If you are looking for a show to buy lures at check out the up-coming show at the Oaks Expo Center. I believe its the Greater Philadelphia Outdoor Show. Not sure about the PA Outdoor Writers. Saw their booth but didn't really stop to check them out.

Can't believe Chris Lane threw a Whopper Plopper the whole day to win the show and I can't catch a single fish on that thing.

Felt like Atlanta was just trying to run out the clock. They jumped out to what they thought was a insurmountable lead and gave up trying to score.
