  1. For me I don't need to "bomb" casts as I would guess that at least 90% of my casts are at most 15 or so yards.
  2. I definitely bring to much. I've got stuff that never sees the light of day all season and also bring backups to backups of stuff I do use.
  3. Got out today 8-1:30. Landed 7 bass all on a spinnerbait the biggest weighed 3-13.
  4. 1: Buzzbait 2: Swimjig 3: spinnerbait or frog depending where I'm at.
  5. Got out this afternoon for a few hours (3-730). Got 5 bass, 2 on a buzzbait with one at 3-10 and 3 on a frog with one weighing 3-8.
  6. Weeds; milfoil, coontail etc. Then pads.
  7. I've been known to toss one around every now and then.
  8. Looks like a little piece of fishing heaven there. In addition to what you used i would throw a toad, swimjig, bladed jig, spinnerbait and buzzbait. When fishing an area like this with moving baits you've got to think about 'lanes' between the weeds. Alot of my casts in areas like this will be 20' or less. Also you've got to be willing to pull weeds off you bait repeatedly.
  9. If I had to guess I'd say your bass are postspawn. (A lot of them anyway). I saw a 2 and a 4 doing the dance on top of a flat rock tues. But mostly I've been seeing seemingly vacated beds in the ponds I fish the past week or so and.the gills are up spawning (you can smell it). Also a couple of the bigger fish I've caught were on the skinny side.
  10. Got out yest. (Sat.) For about 3 hours before work. Caught 6, 3 on a spinnerbait, 1 on bladed jig, and 2 on a swimjig with one of those weighing 3-3.
  11. Ive usually got both rigged but I'll almost always start with a spinnerbait and will stick with one longer if I'm not getting bit than a bladed jig.
  12. This sums up my thoughts exactly only to add for largemouths, for smallies i always say any smallie is a good one.

While I am a believer in scent use (bio edge for me) uhh.. cat food no thanks. The stench of that stuff is not something I'd want in the boat with me.
  14. Buzzbait for me. I'll throw them any time anywhere.
  15. Man, ive broken more than i could count in every way possible but one stands out when i once hooked a good sized bass that buried into the weeds and i couldnt believe how much my rod bent but didn't break as I horsed it out..a couple days later I decided to demonstrate to my nephew how much and proceeded to bend my rod and...SNAP! all I could do was smile and say 'well maybe not quite that much'?
  16. Mine is/was the snagprof phat frog in original green color bit it's no longer available in this color which has me in a frog fog trying to decide what to do.
  17. I think @JediAmoeba nailed it with this statement. I get this a lot with buzzbaits this time of year as I'm often hooking them under the chin, or the side of the face. This pic of a fish I caught last week shows it.
  18. Been the same up my as as well. Was out today fighting it with gusts over 25 mph. Thought I heard the local weather guy today say this was the windiest stretch since '96.
  19. Got out today 8-4. Fought a wicked wind all day. Caught 16 bass on 7 different lures with the buzzbait bringing the days best to the boat at 5-1. Also got a 3-11 on a spinnerbait.
  20. Not to discount the credit fluro played in his win but talking pros vs. Joes makes me think of that quote (b. Phillips on d. Shula) "he can take his'n and beat your'n and he can take your'n and beat his'n). I think if I was up against this guy or any pro with me throwing fluro all day he still could whip my tail with 100 lb. Braid.
  21. My spinnerbait rod is a 7'mh/f. I also have a 7'2" mh/xf rod labeled as a 'jig' rod that is my do-all (almost) rod that gets the nod if I'm running 2 spinnerbaits. And if need be ill throw one on my 7'3" h/f toad rod.
  22. Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and a double wide beaver on a punch rig.
  23. I 5hink the crankbait are more of a sunfish looking color scheme not like soft plastics. Still some around if you look.these are made by a guy in n.h.
  24. I haven't as of yet but grabbed a couple 110 black chrome choppos for $7 ea. off Amazon over the winter so I will at some point.
  25. You won't find me ever doing this. To me it seems to defeat the purpose of a trailer hook which is hooking short striking fish. I don't want to give them a reason to short strike my trailer hook.
