Weiss Lake, AL anybody?
What part of the lake? Most bigger ones will be moving more to deeper water if they havent already with temps getting to 90 here. Some can be found around docks and skinny water year round though. Tons of underwater and bank "junk" if thats your style. Topwater is beginning to come on too. Coworker caught his best fish early on whopper plopper last weekend in tourny at neely henry (lake below weiss dam) Being in a kayak no real need to tell you to watch your maps and depth finder like a hawk. You can be in trouble quick on it with as many stumps, timber and flats are prevelant on it. Many a foot are sank in the lake.

Senkos hook ups
Line watch. Any change in it speed, direction, jumps, etc.. set the hook. I use powerpro slick 8 yellow to help with the visibilty for this. Wether i use a flouro leader changes with fishing pressure and water clarity.

Videos on developing trolling motor skills
It just takes practice, practice, and more practice. Which is good since it means more fishing time !! I also prefer cable steer since i know by the angle on my foot about what direction its pointing. It has taken me many trips to get used to my new fortrex coming from an old omc motor. Biggest change was from buttom is now on left side with fortrex and used omc one with a right side button for literally 20 years before.

What do you use to cut braid?
Either the sissors on my swiss army knife like @Fisher-O-men and more recently the boomerang tool. I picked one up recently and fell in love with it. Now it depends on which i can get to faster. The boomerang does work better on braid overall i think.

Power Poles 8 or 10ft
Ive fished out of boats with both. Both seem to hold the boat just fine. Yes pp drops out of way but after a lil bit of time on one with talons you get used to them and they dont really bother you. In regards to the tm's wiith spot lock, one thing to also consider is when conditions push you into the bank you are fishing it will spin tm around and throw propwash right in there. Most guys ive been fishing with will often just point boat where they want to go after coming off plane, coast in unpowered, and drop pp down to stop them and never lower tm. Great stealth for finicky and spooky shallow fish.

Bachelor trip destinations
I will check it out. We are also looking at camping out at tellico as well and wading and fishing. One of the guys has a brother in law who is catching good trout doing that.

Bachelor trip destinations
Yea. I found some awesome pay lake places to go to in west alabama. Most of the ones in budget are ruled out since only i have access to a boat. Several others have boats but are above budget. I did find one ive talked to dad about we may look at doing in a year or so though. Trophy bass fish and now has skeet shooting too. Well known for great fishing and facilities.

Bachelor trip destinations
Yea. Im looking at some spots in northwest ga now around the toccoa river. We thought about cherokee, but wanted to stay closer to home to keep travel costs and times down. Its harder than i hoped to find a river that isnt full of folks floating down all weekend.

Bachelor trip destinations
I am planning a bachelor weekend for a group of freinds. I am looking for destinations in the north alabama, northwest georgia, and south/southeast tennessee areas. What i am looking for is a place to camp (cabin preferred but tents fine), with fishing trips for us either in canoe or kayak or on a private lake with walking access. Group will be 6-10 guys. Trip will be in early august, so i would have to take into account water levels on creeks this time of year. Trout or smallmouth fishing is some of the ones we are really interested in, But we are open to many diffrent species of fish, all of us either bass or crappie fish. We are not rich or even close to it, so we need to keep prices reasonable ideally under $150 per person for weekend. I am only one in group with a boat so i have already ruled out trips to places like guntersville. I have looked at a few places renting canoes/kayaks but would like to find one a bit more off beaten path. I live 30 min from terrapain creekin N.E. AL, but its not fun to me anymore since it became popular. It seems now its just beer floats by college kids, and way to crowded. It used to be a fun day fishing trip before then.

Cutting Braided Line
Sissors on my small swiss army knife. http://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Small-Pocket-Knives/Manager/p/0.6365 Best one ive found for me. Small size easy to fit in pocket or a neck cord. Cuts any line, has small phillips for reel screws, and a bottle opener for after a day of fishing.

Save phace mask
Pulled the trigger and got one. Got to use it on a 4 day tri to eufaula and overall i really liked it, but could use a few tweaks. Had a problem with my lens fogging over but i found it was my rx glasses, not the mask. Only other complaint was water from rain didnt bead up and run off at speed like i thought it would. May try a lil rainx on outside to help this. Either way it sure beat rain hitting my face. My other thing was i feel it needs a bill on it over the lens to help with sun glare on sunny days. I had to fight holding my hand over to block sun, stear boat, and operate throttle with only 2 hands. No big deal for most nowdays, but we have no hotfoot or power steering on the boat. Overall i like it and plan to keep using it regularly.

Fish finder on pond boat
I have my depthfinder mounted to wood in transom. Clamps for battery conncections, and then i just hang the transducer over the back of the boat. I tried it without weights and the transducer would rise to surface and drag behind when running trolling motor, and not read correctly doing so. A few 1oz. weights on zipties through transducer mounting holes solved this.

Anyone hardwire their trolling motor?
Agreed. One with good, quality connections shouldnt be corroding. If you have sanded on the connections at all, they should be replaced.

Rain Pants
I made the mistake of going pants instead of bibs once. Even with a long jacket i still would end up wet around my beltline and rear end. Never again for me. When i purchased my last rain gear i went bibs and love them. May want to look at hunting raingear some too if you are worried about brush. Alot of times it is made from thicker material designed to be in brush over fishing gear where many anglers are in boats.

Is tuning a crankbait a thing of the past?
Ive also had good luck around bridge columns and other verticle structure by tuning it to run to one side rather than straight, and actually run into the columns. Had a lot of bass nail it after it bounces off the column. Seems to be more eddective on square structure over round.

Are modern Troll Motors 'better?'
Not sure if you have a fiberglass or aluminum boat but what i did when installing our new fortrex should work. I used 4 3/8" bolts on ours got them plenty long to go through bracket and boat. A small flat washer under bolt head on top, and the widest fender washer i could find in 3/8", with a teflon locking nut. Alll the hardware is stainless steel, except for the fender washers. I felt they would be ok since i couldnt find any in stainless, and would be inside the hull. It only cost about a dollar more to use stainless over standard bolts, so why not on something that will be on water.

Is there much use for a Medium/Moderate CB rod for Bass?
Thats what i use for all cranks except deep divers. It keeps weight of lures in middle or so of rod rating instead of on lower end or possibly below rod rating of a MH.

Painting jig heads with nail polish
Ive used some several times with decent results. I use ones that are a buck or less at walmart. I have learned that if it is a plain lead head painting it white before adding a color will really brighten up top color. Its not near as long lasting powder paint, but will get you by if you are on a trip.

Eufaula al.
Im heading down there next week and was wanting to check and see if anyone can give me a report on water temps, clarity, and other conditions. Planning to stay mainly on upper end of lake from causeway/trussell and up.

Who else bought one? Or am I the only sucker?
Would it work on threading micro eyes on rods? If so may get one for my dad.

What type of tool holder do u like?
Normally we have a tool caddy that holds a can drink, and pliers and nail clippers on seat pedestal. Normally the pliers end up in my back pocket. Its the easiest for me since they are right there in easy reach for me. I use the sissors on my lil swiss army knife i always carry for cutting line and such.

Anyone own a boat that has been pretty much trouble-free?
Always from the rub rail down to as far as we can reach. Main concentration is on removing water line and all. Often the above the rub rail depending on lake conditions. Only takes a few minutes. Normally with dad one of us is wiping down while the other secures inside boat and buckling things down and securing things for ride home. We found it to be easier while its still wet and fresh over waiting til we got home. Normally we pull the plug and use the water in hull from melted cooler ice to wipe away.

Anyone own a boat that has been pretty much trouble-free?
92 hydrasport ls180 with a 93 evinrude intruder 150. Has not been completely trouble free but nothing major. Biggest repair bill was our fault having carbs rebuilt after leaving bad gas in over winter and gumming up. Other than that its been a bad rectifier and basic maintanece. Replaced origional omc tm last year with a fortrex, addding a drop mount for pedal last week. Only problem out of old pedal was bad 12/24 switch and steering cables. As stated earlier how you store it is life of hull. Garage kept with no cover. We have a cover we use on overnite trips to keep dew off mainly. Wipe down every time we pull it out of water afterstrapping it down.
