cranking battery dieng?
It will also make a diffrence if it is a cranking only or dual purpose battery. Cranking only batteries will not last as long running electronics and other items.

need help with a trolling motor
i have maybe the same motor for my 8' jonboat. I use a group 24 deep cycle. I picked mine up at acadamy for $50. It has lasted me well. I dont use it constantly either. More like a gas motor on bass boat. I motor to where i want to fish and drop an anchor or stake out. I didnt make a tray or anything for mine. I picked up some insulatuon for large hvac pipes that is about an inch thick to put in bottom of the boat to dampen sounds. I just set the motor on it in the center just under the motor. I have a depth finder but it is on a small alarm system battery i picked up just for it. I have it mounted up front so i can see it better while fishing.

Ethos spinning rod
I used one for over a year for senkos before i upgraded to a dobyns champion. It worked decently well for it. I think a fast action would have been better. I had to really line watch close to detect subtle bites or changes. I was really suprised and pleased with it overall, especially for the price. It is now my fiance's main rod, and i have 2 more casting ones i use for crankbaits.

Spinning Reels

How Accommodate the Guy in the Back?
Ive been both, boater and bon boater. Normally i prefer to be up front in both cases, wether im running tm or not. Most of the folks i fish with prefer this as well. It has advantages, such as if one of you has a fish or gets hung up the other is right there to help take over tm and help out. You just have to be aware of your surroundings and watch what you do more. Dont want to hit/hook partner or step on rods. I have fished with some that prefer to sit, and i normally dont have a seat in front unless water is rough, so i try to keep boat positioned for them. One trick we have learned is if going parrelel down the bank, turn gas motor slightly to kick rear toward bank, and nose away. Rear person is then not casting right over you. As far as fishing diffrent speed lures, its a mixed bag for me. If my partner is using a crank i will often pick up a spinnerbait or vice versa. I have also fished a senko making short precise cast and one or two falls. Works well if going parrellel down a rip rap bank, if i throw shallower and inside partner fishing a crank.

Braid Size for Plueger President Limited Edition Spinning Reel?
Big fan of the slick8 power pro. I have 2 size 30 pluger supremes. 15# on my dropshot rig and 20# on my senko rig, both often with flouro leaders. I like the hi vis yellow for visibilty line watching. No backing for me. When it gets worn of faded on one end i strip it off and reverse it.

What to do with old tackle
I know a few guys who keep the lead to melt down into new lures. I keep an empty "stax" chips can in the boat for old line. Its about like pringles but a plastic can instead of cardboard. Old or rusty hooks get trashed in something else so they dont hook soemething.

Working on Becoming a Better Angler
X2. I have learned far more this way. New techniques, diffrent lures to use, ways to present lures, reading electronics, places to fish and when to fish them. I am always looking for a new person to fish with and learn from. I fish with a few guys who do tourneys, but i personally do not. I am careful though. If a tourny guy shows me a spot i dont show it to a competitor. Nor do i fish that area if i know he has a tourny in a few days. I try to be courteous to my "teachers" and not ruin a good thing.

Cleaning sunglasses
I have a few microfiber towels made for trying cars i use exclusively for my glasses nowdays. I use corner by tag for really dirty/greasy times and another corner for general cleaning and wiping. Tried the single use patches with alchohol before and found over time they ate the coatings off my rx glasses and seemed to be doing the same on my polarized oakleys. Would find tiny chips of the "fire" colored coating on my lens cloth after using them.

Keeping boat at the dock 24/7
First of all, what will make it impractical to not keep it at home in your garage? Its been my experience how you store the boat affects how it lasts as much or more than anything else. Ours has been garage kept since day 1. Parked the boat inside and, left truck outside. We get alot off comments about not beleiving its a 23 year old boat. I have worked with guys who have river lots and none of them keep it in the water more than a season if they do at all. Usually just for the weekend while they are there. Constant exposure to the elements, especially the sun, will fade and kill a boats apperance fast, killing its resale value. It will greatly wear out your carpet, clearcoat, plastic and rubber trim, and anything else exposed in a much faster time than it should.

Affordable Rain Pants
Bass pro has their pro qualifier stuff for $145 til fathers day. My dad and several guys i fish with have them and love them. I personally have frogg toggs toadz bibs and jacket. I got the suit and pants for around $150. Ive been very pleased with them. I like the full leg zippers with storm flap for easy on off. I wear mine with shorts alot on cool mornings when it will be warmer later in day. Do a good job of keeping wind off when running boat.

Advise on a new st croix rod
I have both in the avid line. I have a 6'8" m-xf i use for small worm and jigs up to 3/8. My normal rig on it is a 3/16 weight and 7" worm or 1/4oz or smaller jig. I have a 7' m-f i use for 3/8 and up jigs mainly but i also use it for throwing 10" worms and anytime i have a weight over 3/8oz with a worm, like carolina rigs. When i go weightless its on a dobyns champion 6'8" m-f spinning rod. According to st croix they reccomend 3/8-1oz on the mh and 1/4-5/8oz on the med. So with your normal 1/4-5/16 plus worm would put you in around the middle of the med and bottom end of the mh ratings. So this is where it becomes your choice on if you want one you can go lighter (med) or heavier (mh) with lure/weight combinations. The med will let you throw smaller weights like shakeys or some weightless, but the mh will also double as a fine jig rod.

two fish finders at helm?
I was referring to his second Lowrance unit up front. Not the garmin.

two fish finders at helm?
X2. Have lowrance for dedicated mapping and let the new unit run just for imaging and sonar. Lets you keep screen sizes bigger to identify things better. Especially if the 2 lowrances can communicate and share waypoints.

Sync navionics app with lowrance unit
Is there a way to sync my navionics app on my phone/tablet with my lowrance hds gen 2 unit? I have a navionics card for it also. Right now im finding spots on the app then having to sit on boat and match up places and setting waypoint again.

Best Line Type For Wacky Worm / Stick Bait ?
I prefer 15# yellow slick8 power pro with around a 5-10' flouro leader normally. Its easier for me to see the yellow braid while line watching. I will change up the leader from 6-20# depending on water clarity and what im throwing the senko into. If im throwing into heavy junk or really rocky stuff i will go heavier for better abrasion resistance, clear water and spooky fish its lighter. Normally its a 10-12# leader. In dingy water or aggressive bites i will go straight braid as well.

Looking for a new crankbait
Middle n is my fo to crank after i need deeper depth than a normal squarebill. Good colors, relativly inexpensive (compared to many now), and have been durable fishing rocks for me.

Another reel question
I think its all personal preference. I switch hands still myself. Its just what im used to and havent felt its ever cost me a fish. I have a buddy who learned to reel left handed and prefers it. I also have a coworker who tourney fishes and taught and trained himself to cast left handed. He prefers it since there is no hand change as well as any reel option he wants. Only a limited number are made lefty it seems.

Gear ratio question
For general all around use 6x:1 is the most versatile to me. Once you begin expanding your rods and selections to more lure specific setups you can expand out to diffrent ratios. I personally use 7:1 for worms, jigs, and lures i need to keep slack up on line. I have 3 reels in 5:1, a deep crank with long reel handle, a shallow crank, and a spinnerbait. The rest of mine are 6:1.

Enigma aarons edge cranking
How do these perform and feel? Im looking at the 7'11" mh for deep cranks. May as well take advantage of the tw sale. Ive tried searching but all the reveiws i have found focus more on the looks over performance. I dont care if its an ugly dog as long as it hunts.

Fishing rods for plastic worms
I have a st croix avid 6'8" med-xfast i love for tex rigs and small jigs. I normally throw 3/16oz weights. Mine is a bc but they make it spinning too. For my senkos and other weightless lures i have a dobyns champion 6'8" med- fast spinning rod i love as much or more than the avid.

Weiss Lake, AL anybody?
Yea. I have a pair of ploppers coming to me now. I was catching some pretty well on other end of lake around spring and e mile creeks on a bubblegum or watermelon senko a few weeks ago throwing into brush and blowdowns. Ive fished that area a lil bit, but not much. Began trying to learn more last summer. Future inlaws have a camper not far from there. Good stripe fishing in june as alot of them move way up the chatooga river there for the cooler water. To get over 15-20' you basicly have to get on main channel of the coosa. I was told at one time average depth of whole lake was only 4.5' deep.
