Spool Weight?
If it has holes in the spool just tie to them. I do it on all my reels for years.

Need input on rod length for jig rod!
Over a 6-6 a 7-3 takes a lot of adjustment . It's doable so 7-3 is my suggestion.

Casting inconsistency from rod to rod
I love the tips on my Dobyns Sierra Micro guide rods . They have just enough give to load up properly and cast accurately.

Casting inconsistency from rod to rod
Actually I think your better off sticking to one brand. Less adaptation on your part. Rods with softer fast tips cast better than extra fast tips and are more accurate.Shorter rods are also .more accurate.

Casting inconsistency from rod to rod
a stiff fast tip will cause this. your triumph has a tip that you obviously can relate to. the question is did you buy the other rods for there tip actions and would it benefit you to replace them.

I fish them on a MH fast with 50 lb braid. Get no dig in and don't need maintenance casts.

Dangerous experiences?
Out on a NYC water supply reservoir one night bass fishing and it got foggy out. You are only allowed row boats on them and we had no GPS. We thought we were going the right direction but wound up on the complete opposite end. We didn't realize we were going in circles. It was like being in the Twilight Zone.

Rod / Reel / Line for Worms and Jigs
I'd buy a Dobyns 7 foot heavy fast Champion XP . It's really a MH but Dobyns rates 1 power to heavy. It's line and lure ratings are the same as others MH. I would then pair it with a Lew's Custom Lite SLP at 4.9 oz. You will be in heaven when you feel how lite and we'll balanced it is. As far as line I would put 40 to 50 lb Sufix 832 braid on it with no leaders.

Switched to braid, 20, 30 or 40?
40 lb braid doesn't work good on a spinning reel. It's to thick. Most line thickness specs on braid are not accurate.20 and under work best on spinning.

Floating braid
Absolutely. You can drag it on rocks all day but a sharp edge will slice it.
-
Floating braid
Sufix 832 floats less due to the gore fiber. I fish 50lb all day long in rocks without a problem with 3/4 football head jigs. I found myself retying just as much with mono and flouro if not more.
