  1. I have a buddy who uses braid to a snap on everything and has no problem catching fish. He uses no leaders. I fish braid with no leaders but I color the last 5 feet black. I use a snap for hard baits and have no problem getting bites. My mainline is yellow Sufix 832.If braid or snaps decreased bites then a Tokyo rig or Alabama rig wouldn't work.
  2. You need to fish in rocks.
  3. Chatterbait for me
  4. If it fishes normal I'd wouldn't worry about it. Who even thinks about trying things like this LOL ???
  5. Go with a new Lew's BB1 LFS tournament pro reel. It's specifically designed for distance.
  6. No they have different braking systems. I have Lew's reels but not that one.i love all my different Lew's reels.
  7. Totally agree with David.
  8. Use 832. It sinks slowly.
  9. I use 50 lb so I have more abrasion resistance over rocks.I have no issue with distance. I agree about the sensitivity. You get stuck way less and can walk a deep diver over rocks with braid by letting it touch then float up. Restart is when you get a lot of strikes.
  10. Braid is easier to remove a backlash. 8 strand braid casts further than mono or flouro. I use braid with no leader. You can feel everything. Hooksets are awesome. Just loosen your drag and let the fish take line so it doesn't pull the hooks.
  11. What he said. I like braid for cranks so when you slowly walk it up boulders you can feel what's going on. Let it float up when it contacts a boulder then restart it. That's usually when a fish inhales it.if you get stuck move over to behind where you casted and try pulling it free that way.
  12. Gotta disagree on mono being more forgiving. A bad backlash can damage mono. Braid will be ok. Braid is also easier to remove a backlash.
  13. Lew's reel covers. Bass pro or dicks sleeves.
  14. If you use a swivel snap the line could possibly be slipping through the split ring and popping off. That wouldn't happen with just a snap. Crazy glue also helps on braid knots.
  15. Been using a Palomar knot since 1993 on braid and never had one slip. Spider wire sucks. Get Sufix 832. The snap has nothing to do with it. Inspect line and retie when needed.
  16. Well it finally happened. It wasn't major because I found it as I started to spool up a reel. It was a 600 yd spool of 50 lb. Test yellow 832. I had spooled a few reels and started another. I couldn't tie a knot that wouldn't break at the spool. I looked at the line and the line was frayed for about 8 inches then went back to normal.since it was just at the start of everything I just cut it out. It looked like when the machine spooled it it got hung on something and got abraided. I've never seen this before with Sufix
  17. Whatever pleases you.id get a super high speed reel and a 7-3 mhm to fish lipless cranks on braid
  18. 3 spitting the hook means we need to check our equipment or how we play the fish.
  19. I know guys who use nothing but those reels
  20. I agree and take it one step further. I have no spinning rods.
