  1. 1967 I started. My grandmother bought me my first zebco combo.we fished live worms and ate most of what we caught. I became serious about bass in 1985 and started to target them exclusively. It's been fun all the way
  2. Best advice ever.
  3. Zirconium is the generic name for alconites.
  4. LOL!!!! THANKS !!!!
  5. Get a Lew's. Get a 6 speed if it's your do everything rod. Get a Dobyns Sierra series rod.
  6. If the rod with no reel balances 8 inch's past the handle that would be it's balance point without the reel. The further it goes outward the more imbalanced it will feel when used. When you balance a rod you add weight to the butt to get it to balance where you hold it. The only variable is where you hold it. I submit that most guys palm a baitcaster which would put that in the center of the reel seat. I am not talking about spinning rods here. If you balance a baitcast rod to the center of the reel seat with no reel on it then it doesn't matter how much the reel weighs. If you balance it forward or backward because of preference then yes it would matter. I personally have stopped balancing my rods and have gone to Dobyns rods because they are light and balance close enough to the reel seat that I am satisfied. There is no way I would ever spend the money that the nrx costs with an 8 inch balance point. I'm done.
  7. .8.5 is for a unbalanced rod. It would feel tip heavy.to balance it you add butt weight which brings your balance closer.you don't hold the rod 8.5 inch's up the rod. It should balance close to your hand.
  8. That makes no sense.
  9. That is the imbalance point. The further out it is the more tip heavy it is. Most guys palm a reel so the balance point is under the reel where you hold it.
  10. You're far from the only one !!!!
  11. Why would you fish crankbaits on a spinning rod ?
  12. It takes a season to really get used to it.
  13. Sportsman's outfitters is a great place.
  14. Last Christmas I accidentally ordered a lefty Lew's Custom lite SLP. I decided to try it pitching so I wouldn't have to switch hands . It was awesome. Now I'm planning on switching them all as I need to. I started bait casting in 1990 when almost no lefties existed so I got used to righties and had used them for 31 year before switching..
  15. You should always be watching your line when fishing touchy feely baits. To not do so is a major mistake.Dont forget sometimes small panfish will hit your bait and you think it's a bass. If it feels like a machine gun it's panfish.
  16. Sierra is an amazing rod for the money.
  17. Right !!!!
  18. I would go with tufline domin8. It's much better smoother line.
  19. Wow !!!!! Guess I'm staying with Sufix 832.
  20. Beyond Braid has made in USA label. KK is Chinese made if I'm not mistaken. I'll give my money to the USA first.
  21. I see they make a orange high vis 8 strand braid in 2000 yds for $99.00.
