How well do You deal with getting skunked?
I used to hate it. Then it started to happen less and less. Now I'm down to about twice a year. There are lots of tough days in there also. A lot of people also don't put enough hours in. You may fish for 3 hours and not get a bite because the fish aren't feeding. 15 minutes after you leave it may turn on. I fish 8 to 10 hours in a rowboat when I go . You have to be dedicated. So as I grow older I deal with it better by trying to learn from it.

Graphite vs Aluminum frame preference/questions
I've had my tanso tech Lew's custom lite 4.9 oz reel for 1Year so far with no issues. Then again it is a 300$ reel.

What is the point of split grip rods?
At first I didn't like them because with earlier rod technology it made the balance more tip heavy. Then Falcon came along with the Bucoo rod and I picked one up and couldn't believe how light and balanced it felt. I bought 2 and since then I'm hooked on split grips. Today's blank technology is so advanced there is no reason for rods to be heavy or severely unbalanced.

Looking for a new smallmouth setup?
You just perfectly described a 6-6 MH fast baitcast rod. Being an all round rod I suggest a 6 to 1 ratio. https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/lews-tournament-mp-speed-spool-lfs-series-baitcast-fishing-reel https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/dobyns-sierra-mirco-guide-series-rods https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/dobyns-sierra-series-rods Free shipping and no tax keeps you under 350$. Dobyns run softer so heavy is MH magnum heavy is heavy.

How many rod brands do you use?
You have more rod brands than I have rods.

CAUTION when reading ROD and REEL purchaser reviews
There is nothing wrong with brand loyalty until it becomes bashing every brand but your own. I find that Shimano and Diawa fans are the worst when it comes to this. Both companies make great stuff but just like you said they make some bad ones also. Shimano had a problem with spinning reels that would bind up if they got wet. They refused to acknowledge it.this was mid 90s to around 2005. I personally love Lew's baitcasters and own nothing else . I prefer the value and features offered but I would never bash Diawa , Shimano or Quantum reels for no reason. Line reviews are the funniest. One guy will say a line springs off his spinning reel and tangles constantly. This is after 20 reviews that say the line is soft and performs well on spinning. In cases like this I laugh at the bad reviewer who spooled his line wrong.he probably has his reel facing up also. What you have to do is throw out the blatantly obvious fan boy reviews and the blatantly obvious dude who can't fish and is clueless And read the rest.

How many strands do you think a braided line should have?
I meant the 131. Already using 832 yellow. Sufix 832 is dynema and 1gore strand. I hate the noise and roughness of 4 strands. The noise of the 8 strands is low. Sufix is also tightly braided which makes it more manageable.

How many strands do you think a braided line should have?
If it came in high vis yellow I'd try it.

How many strands do you think a braided line should have?
I buy spools of high vis yellow and color the end black.

How many strands do you think a braided line should have?
There's one answer to this question is and it would be Sufix 832. It's 8strands and cuts through weeds fine. I've been using braids since the early 90s and over all it's the best Ive used.

Bps rods/reels
BPS Johnny Morris Signature series rods are awesome. The only reason I'm switching to Dobyns is BPS has had issues during covid with keeping any rods in stock. The Patriots even disappeared from the website for a while.

Recoil Guides
I had one and I loved it. Had less noise with braid than standard guides did. I am surprised more rods don't have them. I fish 50;lb Sufix 832 and never grooved a guide . I am one of those drag locked down guys also. I wish they made recoil micro guides.

fast vs extra fast action for jigs?
I use 7-6 heavy extra fast BPS JM signature series in deep thick weeds for trig and jigs. I use 7-3 heavy fast and 7-0 heavy fast in lighter cover.they are both Dobyns so they are between a stiff heavy and a MH.

- What reel should I get for my new Megabass levante prefect pitch
With rods today and technology there is no excuse for really tip heavy rods.- What reel should I get for my new Megabass levante prefect pitch
I would have tried a rod balancer- Your Total Years
I'm the opposite. If I catch anything that's not a bass it's unusual. - What reel should I get for my new Megabass levante prefect pitch
