  1. try the big o!!! https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/1021790184?pid=724212&utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Fishing+-+Baits+-+Hard+Baits&utm_content=724212&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2bOx_8Gw7gIVEo_ICh1raAAxEAQYBiABEgKynfD_BwE
  2. I heard theres a shortage of games also? Is that true?
  3. I’d go with a custom built rod. Check out Delaware valley. For a reel I’d go with a jdm diawa.
  4. Yes, cheaper alternatives are out there. I LOVE LOVE LOVE high end gear but I wouldn’t go that high end on a rod for moving baits (cranks/squarebills/small swimbaits). My most expensive rods I use for jigs and finesse plastics but if you got the $ then by all means go for it. Good luck with your purchase as you can’t go wrong with either of those sticks!!
  5. What applications do you plan on using it for? I would only go that high end for bottom contact. Those rods are overkill for moving baits in my opinion.
  6. Looks like you got all the info you need on leader length. One other thing I wanted to mention. I try to have my leader and main line have a similar diameter.
  7. If you can break braid with your hands you got a problem.
  8. I’d go with a medium power rod also. Let’s you fish more types of lures. And I’d use 8lb test
  9. I love fishing squarebills. I had the baitmaker make me a batch. Amazing custom colors. They flat out catch fish. Not sure if he’s still doing squarebills but these are the best I’ve every used.
  10. Kistler is having a 35% off sale. I think it ends tonight. This might help your decision??? i have a few kistlers. I like them a lot. Very light and the tips are a little stiffer than the rating but the helium’s are very sensitive. I don’t have any axl.
  11. YDKIYDG! you don’t know if you don’t go
  12. Go to the kistler website. They are having a big sale. If you need a code let me know btw. Zbones are $500.
  13. That rod is going to excel for light baits used for bottom contact: Ned rigs, shaky head, other trig plasticS and smaller swimbaits to name a few. I own a bunch of kistlers but for drop shot I use a rod that has a much softer tip.
  14. Any picks? I’d be interested in some old lures to hang in my fishing room
  15. Sounds like you’re not going to be surf casting so I’d go with a 7.5 foot rod rated up to 2 or so ozs and a 4000 size reel with 40lb braid. For lures I’d start with savage gear sand eels, Diawa sp minnow, hogey paddle tails and a couple top water poppers.
  16. I have this rod. Love it. Sign up for the mailing list and get 10% off https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/megabass-orochi-xx-f6-70-tour-versatile-used-casting-rod-excellent-condition.html and they have a bunch of other used rods on sale. Good luck.
  17. Heddon torpedos Would be a good choice for your son. just cast and reel. I love whopper ploppers but the smaller sizes can be tough to get on plane in the dark.
  18. I’m a big shimano guy. I have 8 or so Stradics, 4 ci4s....BUT I bought a couple diawa jdm reels last year or so and I like them better than the ci4. I’d give the diawa jdm a shot!!!! the reel model i got is the diawa em-ms and it was $70 cheaper than the ci4.
  19. I use to fish there a lot as a young kid but that was a long time ago. I only fished the bottom/southern section but caught a ton of fish on rubber worms, spinners and spoons. Hopefully the map below helps. http://fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.com/i-boating-fishing-web-app/fishing-marine-charts-navigation.html?title=Lake+Winnisquam+boating+app#11.87/43.5143/-71.5009/3.3
  20. They have really jacked up their prices in the last couple of years and then they make comments like this.
  21. Order a vanford....NO order a Stradic ci4 from academy for $176 (includes 10% newsletter signup discount).......HELL YESSSS
  22. Repost it!!! Ill blame you for buying another reel!! MPM. Monkey pictures matter
  23. My suggestion. Narrow down your choices and be patient.....wait for a sale. I never buy new unless I’m getting at least 20% off retail. Lots of guys love eBay for good deals. follow the latest deal thread on this site. I just bought a Stradic ci4 new for $176.
  24. It Should be in the log for a while.... if not it’s on the bottom. Throw on some goggles and get er done. Hope the visibility is decent.
  25. I’ve got an old Powell endurance that I’ve had for close to 10 years that I really like. the epoxy around all of the guides is flaking. I’m trying to determine what to do to fix it. Do I need to replace the guides? Any help appreciated.
