  1. I was able to find info on some miscellaneous sites but I had so sign up which was a pain but the feedback I found was great. The righties went on sale back in November so lots of chatter back then. Feedback was that they are super solid reels and better for heavier baits. I thought there was some talk on the tackletour boards also?
  2. Both great reels. I have both and lean stradic But not by much. Is there a bass pro near you. If so wait for the trade in sale happening in March. You can get $40 off a $200 reel. BUT if you want a Stradic I’d go on day 1.
  3. I bought one and it looks/feels great. I posted in the sale thread
  4. ******bait monkey warning****** For all of you square bill fans out there. The baitmaker made me a batch of custom lures. You can find him on the site. The squarebills are amazing and he can paint any color/pattern you desire. the squarebills flat out catch fish. He also made me some 6inch perch and bluegill baits that I haven’t had a chance to fish as much as I’d like but they look amazing and run perfect. I’m trying to add pics but having size issues
  5. You can try mgc in Hanover MA. Ive heard they have a big selection.
  6. I look at this as your respective fishing genealogy: My dad is a blue collar guy and he said the blue collar guys fish with live bait and drink Schlitz!!! white collar guys golf and drink martinis!! his tackle box consisted of mostly terminal tackle and a few lures he won playing poker. He never used the lures. Im a white collar guy. Don’t golf anymore but drink martinis. I have 20 fishing rods and enough tackle to open a tackle store. But the best thing I like to do is drink Schlitz with my old man.
  7. 2RODBONUS sign up for their mailing list. They have sales all the time.
  8. Kistler is having a 35% off sale if you buy 2 rods
  9. I bought one also. Mine was delivered on Friday. Looks like a great reel. If you use code BBC10 you’ll get an extra 10% off sale price.
  10. gotcha now! I’ll have to gear up for my trip to Florida this year. Heading to the Tampa area.
  11. I’m surprised to hear that. Heaviest I go is 30# for pitching into wood. I’m in the northeast and I don’t see that heavy of line being used. does it help with casting performance?
  12. 50lb braid. Are you fishing for tuna?
  13. Where did you get them??? I’ve been looking at them
  14. I got the predator for a lil under $2400 and it included a $350 hummingbird fishfinder. Most places were asking $2800 a couple years ago. I talked to the hobie guy and he couldnt come close to matching that. Be careful... I think they are selling the predator with the minn Kota motor for $2300 this year.
  15. Cav. I usually go every year but I wait until the last day as i found that it’s the best way to find a good deal. Don’t be afraid to ask if they will go lower than the marked price for rods/reels or any other bigger items. They would rather sell it at a bigger discount than have to lug it to the next location. last year I came home with an olde town predator pedal kayak! its $16 to get in but don’t forget about parking....that’s another $15-20. good luck!
  16. Wait for a sale nitty gritty
  17. anyone have a diawa Catalina. I’m in the market for a new cranking reel and this looks like a very good deal. Get an extra 10% off sale price with code BBC10. Lefty only https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=75_823_3020&products_id=15063
  18. I catch most of my crankbait fish when I’m grinding it on the bottom or bouncing it off of rocks. If the water is 12 feet deep. I’m using a crank that dives to 15 so I can hit the bottom. Try it and you’ll catch fish. I have much more success that way than just reeling it in.
  19. Lots of great feedback above. I have an old town predator (I’m 6’2”. 210) and it’s great. I can stand in it if I’d like with no problem Be aware of the weight of the kayak. Not sure how you plan on getting it to the lake but putting a heavy kayak on the roof of a car can be a pain and then dragging it 100 or so yards to launch are things to think about. good luck!!
  20. I like 1/2 oz or smaller for bass. I use 3/4 oz to target lake trout.
  21. Shimano has been included in the reel trade in the last few years. Last years included all reels
  22. I have 4 Powell rods. 2 endurance that I’ve had for 8+ years and 2 of the max. I really like Powell and have never had an issue with these rods and I fish them a ton. I also have a fury that I use for big Swimbaits that performs well but I don’t use that rod nearly as much
  23. Thanks for responses guys! A-Jay, I’ve never been to round-town but it looks like I’ll have to give it a try! hows the casting distance on the Calcutta?
