  1. Seems I read somewhere that you don't cinch the knot down as tight as you do mono, if you do you are damaging the line. I just wet the knot and snug it down. I don't try to get it tight as I can. I have never broke off at the knot with fluoro and I set the hook hard as I do mono.
  2. I have the Lew's 6'6' David Fritts Perfect Crankbait Rod in med. I will using this rod for a long time. Great for shallow diver to med. diver. Cost was under $80.
  3. Happy Thanksgiving to all. We are having everyone at our house this year. I know we will have turkey and dressing, honey baked ham, some sausage dish, and lots of veggies. Everyone is bring at least one dish. Looks like I will be adding some more pounds that I don't need but I am not going to worry about, just eat and have good fellowship with family.
  4. Nice fish !!! Looks and sounds like you had a great day.
  5. Congrats, can't wait to see what boat you get.
  6. So sorry to hear about your son, I will be praying for you and your family.
  7. Alberto knot, holds and easy to tie.
  8. I don't have the ones you listed but I do have the Supreme XT. Ordered it from Walmart for $107 and some change. I really don't think you can go wrong with any Pflueger reels.
  9. I wouldn't change props, I doubt you would see much change.
  10. What is the difference between the regular Power Pro braid and the SuperSlick, which do you like the best. Great idea about reversing it.
  11. Want to know if anyone has used yellow braid before. I am thinking about using 10# test on my spinning reel with 7# test leader. I am wanting to use yellow because It is hard fo me to see flurocarbon, eyes not good as they use to be. I will probably go with Power Pro or Sunline. I have also heard that yellow braid fades., does it fade bad where you can't see it. Anyone have any experiences with it ?
  12. It used to be a Bandit 100 in Tenn. Shade but looks like now it might be the Ned Rig. I have a ton of confidence that I will catch something with it.
  13. I'll agree. Want a St Croix Avid but it is hard not to consider this rod for $100 less.
  14. My buddy built a hitch for his motorcycle, wish I had been there to see the launch. Didn't work out the way he planned.
  15. Agree on the Ned Rig, seems like I am throwing it more and more.
  16. Bought this boat this spring. It is a 1997 Lowe Roughneck 17' with a 90 Johnson, Since I have owned it, I have changed out the trolling motor to a MK Edge 55 and changed out the bow fishfinder to a Garmin 551dv.
  17. Looking forward to your project. Should be interesting.
  18. I have been wanting to grease the swivel points on my outboard so I stoped by my local Outboard Repair shop. They sold me grease for bearings. I have always head that you should never use bearing grease for the outboard, I question it but they said that is what I need, It is red grease and they said that it would work for the ouboard. The grease is Star Brite Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease, So, will it be OK, Do I need to get a different grease, I can always use the bearing grease.
  19. Which pool do you fish on the Tenn-Tom. I use to fish up there years ago.
  20. If you want floating baits, try Z Man baits, even then, some of their floating baits don't float when first used, such as the Ned Rig TRD. I try them when I get a new pack and if they don't float, I run hot water over them and stretch them some. They will also start floating when you use them.
  21. I always store my motor down reguardless of time of year. I also lower it on 4x4 piece of wood black so no strain is on the tilt. I not saying that this is the correct procedure but this is just what I do. When I lower it at home, water always runs of of it.
  22. Anyone ever tried SolarBats, seems like some good glasses at a lower price. I am sure also they will have a black Friday Sale.
  23. As you can see there is no wrong way to fish the drop shot unless you don't hit the water. Also try different baits, never know what they may bite,
  24. I would personally go aluminum. I this year, got a 1997 Lowe 17' aluminum. Most can't believe it is that old. Previous 2 owners kept in under a shed and with a cover. Don't rush and you will find what you like. Winter is a great time go get a good deal also.
