  1. Did I say six???? I meant eight. You are smokin' A-Jay. Doug
  2. I would venture a guess and say you will put a six plus in the boat before hard water A-Jay. I went out today and it was windy and cold and the first rain in almost three months. The lake dropped 10 degrees from last week. I still love this time of year the most.
  3. Nope. Texas unweighted, weighted, Zappu heads, wacky drop shot, wacky with a wide gap finesse and a rare Carolina rig. Versatile bait.
  4. No. There's no need for excuses.
  5. For me high end is 200 to 250 bucks. With that, Diawas are my preference. I like the ease of set up, gear train and overall performance. The fit my hand. I have nothing bad to say about Shimano or any reel for that matter. My Diawas just continue to impress me.
  6. Look at a current satellite image of the US. See the area covered in smoke from all the forest fires? That's pretty much were I live.
  7. The title could have been, The Factors Of Rod Design And Length Variation. Tom, that was a great post. You were right on. It was also just the right length.
  8. Definitely the Fall. The cool mornings and warm afternoons without much if any real rain and the winds are mild. The weather at the beach is the best of the year and the topwater bite around The Dalles is on. Kids are back in school and the pressure is off. Now that I'm retired, this Fall will be even better as I can pick and choose days to fish. There's always taking the grandkids to the pumpkin patch and football, baseball and the sound of geese flying south. I love it. It was 94 today so Fall is welcome here.
  9. Correct. Unplug or switch the master switch off in the boat while charging. Did it used to power up ? Check all the switches, battery connections and try a voltage meter at the plug to start. If you get about 24 volts at the plug it's in the motor's system, then move to the pedal switches and eliminate from there.
  10. I thought this was going to be about the Seattle Mariners.
  11. My box has a mix of Revenge, Peppers and War Eagle with some custom painted Flashover Baits thrown in.
  12. There are far to many good options out there to risk a " do over " for Vanish. It's not worth the risk to vindicate such a poor product.
  13. It's a fine reel. It was designed to be braid ready with a tie slot on the spool. It has a long power handle and a solid gear train. It will make a great froggin reel. I have two but mine are righties QM. Sorry.
  14. I am a traditionalist and it's cork, full rear grip if I can get it except my Extreme HP's. The handles on split grips are too short for my hands (except HP's.). Cork has become extremely expensive and the wine industry is buying it up at an alarming rate. There will be a time when cork will rarely be seen on a fishing rod. I do not care for Hypalon/EVA. It's Okay on my Furys but cork is my thing.
  15. I have one. It's paired with a Champion 684CB as a jerkbait set up. It casts very well. It's a small profile and if you have smaller hands will palm very nice. Easy to set up. I think it's a good reel.
  16. Wind. I know it can be your friend in certain cases but more often than not, wind makes things difficult and a challenge.
  17. The tissue of a bass in the warm summer is much softer than cooler months and that may contribute to fish lost. Been there many times.
  18. I would have been happy if the CT Type R was blue being they are on Dobyns Champions. Oh well, they fish great. I just got a Diawa Tatula SV TWS and the finish on that reel is as nice as any I've seen. It goes well with my little black cocktail dress and pearls. It's the pits to to work the trolling motor pedal in stilettos.
  19. It's all about options. Each line type has it's place and gives an angler options as to what they want for a specific application. Great dialogue.
  20. I checked my mail today and found a letter with the quote, " Time waits for no one." posted on the lower left face. I opened it and found a special offer, addressed to me by first name for my cremation. Maybe I ticked the wife off and didn't know it. At this point, I think I'll hold off for awhile.
  21. Well Brian, we love to hear from members how they felt about their purchase and how I for one want to know what you think of your Diawa. Glad to have you as part of the group.
  22. Regardless of the banter, the eclipse was awesome to watch. My area had about a 98% view. A once in a life time experience. It became dark enough that street lights came on. Pretty cool.
  23. Crazy nice !
