Braid use in tinted water
Too me, it depends on your waters. My local lake is highly pressured, so i have noticed that fluro gets more bites than straight braid. Its almost like a five to one difference with fluro. Even in stained water, I'll just stick with fluro or mono. Why change a good system.

Bantam MGL
I had four, but sold one. I have mine paired up with 7'2 med hvy exprides. Did have them on the 7'1 and 7'2 med hvy Intenzas but I like the action of the exprides better. The Intenzas have a faster action than the exprides.

New G Loomis NRX Bass Rod
I just hope they change the ugly light baby blue guide wrappings. That's the only reason, I've never owned one.

best gear ratio for spinnerbaits and texas rigs
I'm one of the few that like a 5 gear ratio for spinnerbaits. T rigs I use 7 gear ratio. If I move to an 8 gear ratio, i feel like i loose to much torque to move fish out of cover.

I went fishing today!
What were they using?

Uses for 5.2 gear ratio BPS PQ that don't include deep cranking?
I use a 5 gear ratio for all my resistance lures. Spinnerbait, chatterbaits, all crankbaits, A-rigs. I even prefer slower gear ratios on my spinning reels.

Fish ID (Bad Drawing)
I'm assuming that you are in Florida. Because Florida is the only place I know of that has plecos. Have you looked up Chinese algae eater? They will cling to rocks and have stripes but they are more minnow like in shape

Unidenteified Fish Behavoir
I agree. That's how the carp do down here when they are spawning. I often hoped it was bass chasing baitfish but I am usually not that lucky.

Barrel swivels...
I try to use the smallest swivels possible because sometimes trout will hit the swivel instead of the spinner. A larger swivel tends to tempt the trout more than a small one. That said, i like the owner micro swivels in size 14. These swivels are super tiny. Honest thought any small swivel should work. Like you, i place the swivel 12 to 18 inches above my snap. I also use the smallest size possible for the snap.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I have two in right hand drive. I really enjoy my two. How is it much different from your core? Too me, its pretty much the same reel with different paint and knobs.

Stradic Ci4 2500 - this ship has sailed?
You can still find them used. Or just get the Vanford. Same as stradic CI4+, only slightly better. Or daiwa Tatula or Ballistic LT. Both great reels also.

Megabass x-bites
The action to me was softer than the 843 mbr action. It had more flex in the tip. Its was super light weight though. It felt more sensitive than my Conquest 843. I was throwing a 3/8 oz jig. Then tried a jackhammer on it just to see if I could sense the vibrations. Yep, pretty sensitive. Just wasn't crazy about the short trigger. Didn't work with how I palm my rod n reel.

It took me a few years
When you really think about it, we probably only use about 10 to 20 percent of all the tackle we buy. The rest just collects dust. We find out what works in our local waters and tend to stick with it. Be it a certain color or lure. Might try something new to see how it fishes or works but the old stuff still works the same. I think most of us will die with 90% of our tackle never being ever fished. We have a tackle hoarding problem. I know I do.

Looking for recommendations on a spinning reel
Nobody has asked but what rod is this new reel going on? That would make a difference in what to choose. Also, with these being finesse techniques, a lighter reel will definitely feel better in hand.

Team Diawa reel
It wasn't a very expensive reel. I believe Walmart had it for around $50 when it was in stock. Probably in the 90's sometimes. I thought about picking up a few for myself back in the day.

What's your favorite line of reels?
Most of my baitcast reels are Shimanos. Three Daiwas and three Lew's mixed in. Most of my spinning reels are Daiwa. Some shimano spinners still in the mix.

This group = BAD influence
Great combo there. I have the same setup. Throwing 1/2 jigs with mine. Very sensitive rod.

Ultra Light Trout setup...4lb Trilene XL or 4lb Yo Zuri Hybrid???
I use Trilene XL #4 and SOS #4. Both are about the same. Haven't noticed much difference in the two lines. Mono will be easier to manage than any fluro. Plus much cheaper on the wallet.

6lb mono on 1000 sized reel
I use 6 lbs trilene XL and sunline super natural on my 1000 size reels with no issues. Whatever line you go with, just make sure it's a limp line. Line conditioner also helps.

Shimano Core 50 mg7
Yes. Same reel. Core 50 mg7 was USDM reel. Aldebaran mg7 was JDM reel

Bass Pro carbon lite 2.0 spinning reel
I have two of the 1000 size. Pretty much a daiwa LT reel. Kind of a cross between a daiwa Regal and Exceler. The Regal spool will fit on it. The thread in handles like the Exceler will fit it.

Tatula LT 2500 can’t cast
I've never had a spinning reel that couldn't cast well. Most of the time it has to do with the line. How much line are you putting on the spool? What weights are you trying to cast?

Casting reel hard to turn when drag is off
Did you replace the drag washers? Sometimes if you replace the drag washers the new ones are a little thicker and cause the drag stack to rub against the inside of the reel causing some resistance. It seems to effect some reels while others are fine. The same thing happened to me after I replaced the stock drag in several shimano Calcutta 50b's. Some were fine, others had resistance unless the drag star was turned almost all the way down. I had to remove several shims on the base of the drive shaft to get rid of the resistance.

Do You Ever Wet Wade?
I wade in the rivers and streams in the summer time. I usually wear swim trunks and t shirt with crocs or water shoes. I usually either wear a fishing vest or fishing sling for my tackle. I'll carry two to three spinning rods with me. It's a great way to stay cool in the summertime and still catch fish.

Avid x vs expride
Too funny, but true
