  2. What do you mean?
  3. Wow. That is awful news. I always thought the guy was a little out there but anyone who has seen his show has to admit that he challenges himself to catch fish and kill game in ways that most people wouldn't even think possible. He is truly an amazing sportsman. I hope he recovers so that he can at least go fishing and hunting again, even if its not at the same level.
  4. haha. The funniest part was him messing with the guy who was actually standing at a market offering free hugs.
  5. Be safe man. Be sure to post some pics of whatever fish you catch over there for us.
  6. whoa! I have never seen a greenie any where near that big. I always thought they spawned in the middle of the summer though so I'm not sure it would be eggs (but I could very well be wrong). Those eyes are pretty crazy too
  7. I saw that on Drudge earlier today. I don't understand why stories like these don't scare people away from PCP. It can make people do some really, really, really messed up stuff--this story is a perfect example and unfortunately its only one of many.
  8. I love my Kistler Magnesium TS All Day Flippin' and Pitchin' Stick. It is telescopic but if you don't mind that then I would highly recommend it to you. It retails for $170 but you can find it for cheaper if you look.
  9. congrats man, that's great news.
  10. ohhhhhh. That changes it. Yes, I would consider the "s word" a poor choice of words
  11. Bueller? Bueller?
  12. me neither. crap isn't a curse word.
  13. Chicken at Memphis in May? Is that even legal?
  14. I'm about to get my first slammer. I have a rod that can handle the weight of the 7" slammers. My question is: what is the difference between the Slammer and the XX Double jointed slammer. Of course I realize the XX has another joint that gives it a different action. What I want to know is in what situation would the action of the XX be more effective than the action of the regular slammer and vice versa?
  15. Cool. I thought it said June but that's good to hear. Do you have to pay to fish the lake? I always wanted to fish it but it's location and trout stocking program always put me off.
  16. 3rd overall? That's pretty d**n impressive. Too bad it's for a shoulder though. ;D

    wow. that's really slick dude.
  18. when does the designated trout season end at Lake Fairfax? I don't want to buy a trout stamp to fish for bass...
  19. the same thing happened to me when I was learning to pitch in my back yard.
  20. No, they aren't. Not in the Potomac at least. I don't care if smallmouth are native to the US. They are predatory fish that are non-native to my area. Same as the snakehead. Introduction of either could have unintended consequences. Did the smallmouth change the Potomac ecosystem? I dunno, they were introduced a long time ago so it would be hard to compare what the river was like before to what its like now. Have the snakeheads changed the ecosystem? No, not according to the local fishery departments. Invasive species are fully capable of affecting ecosystems but they don't always affect them negatively or measurably.
  21. Yeah, I figured they weren't actually painted, I just didn't know what it was called. The ones I have used really are tough. I haven't had any problems with inserts on my river2sea tungsten weights but to be honest I really haven't used them that much. I get what you are saying though Burley, I can imagine they could cause some line issues. I guess I will just have to keep buying TT weights. Honestly I don't think I've lost any of the tungsten I've used. I haven't used them a lot but they have seen a fair amount of water. I think because I usually use them with braid I don't tend to lose them that often so I guess that kind of makes me feel a little better.
  22. tungsten definitely has some advantages
  23. I think the action is important also. A rod with a softer tip loads up with lighter baits.

Yeah I was really excited to catch such a nice fish but I just can't get over the feeling that I didn't earn it. The charter captain found the fish, the crew rigged the umbrella rigs and put the lines out on a planar board and handed me the rod when it doubled over. All I really did was reel... I would much rather catch fish like yours by finding it, casting to it, working the bait, and fighting it on lighter tackle.
