  1. Wow, I dunno about BK cologne...but I have said before that I would love to bottle the smell of Red Hot and Blue or some other rib joints and wear it as cologne.
  2. The only reason their helmets hit was because McGahee lowered his head into the collision. You can't penalize the defenders in those situations because it isn't their fault. It was NOT intended to injure, it was intended to knock the ball loose and stop a 200+ pound RB in a full sprint from gaining more yards...and it worked. Would you rather the defenders just try to hang on to the ball carriers and hope they can drag them down with arm tackles? And I didn't see McGahee as defenseless as you did. He clearly caught the ball, turned up field, and was prepared for the hit as evidenced by his attempt to get lower than Clark. I'm all for keeping the players safe. That's why I hate Taylor Mays at USC. He loves to crack people with his helmet. I also hate when tacklers leave their feet. It's just poor tackling form. A good tackle involves using your shoulder and running through the ball carrier. Sometimes defenders hit ball carriers with their shoulders and heads as a result, but those are accidents, and to change rules to prevent accidents would remove the defender's ability to tackle effectively. There is a point where emphasizing safety takes the physicality out of the game (just ask the old time defensemen how they feel about all the protections QBs get these days) and that takes the fun out of the game.
  3. Ron, I agree with what was previously said, go handle both reels. I've heard great things about both reels but I have to say from the feel of my new Citica (same frame as the Curado) that they feel great in the hand. What rod are you going to pair it with? What techniques did you have in mind?
  4. I have a Magnesium flippin stick that I like a lot but I've never used their spinning rods. Simmons has a couple of the old Helium LTA rods (HE66MLS & HE66MS) for $130 a piece.
  5. I've held but never fished a Mojo. I own a LTB Spinning rod. In the long run, I would definitely pay the extra $120. The LTB are super sensitive and light. I absolutely love mine.
  6. Quoted from the NFL official site: http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80e3a839&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true The title of the story is "McGahee expected to make full recovery after helmet-to-helmet hit" Not sure what you guys were watching, but the NFL sees it differently. Watch the video at 50 seconds in, and then you'll see it's clearly a helmet-to-helmet hit. Glenn, not all helmet to helmet hits are illegal. That was a helmet-to-helmet hit, but it was a legal one. As previously stated, if the ball carrier lowers his head into the hit, it is legal. Also, as long as the defender doesn't lead with his helmet (Clark did not) it is legal. Otherwise, they would be penalizing a defender for something the offender did and the defender couldn't control.
  7. If I'm looking for a straight up hoagie style sandwich I go to the Italian Store in Arlington, VA.
  8. Well I can tell you it wouldn't be a great paperweight. Too light. I'd be glad to trade you a Citica 201D...it would do a much better job. It can pin down paper in tropical storm force winds! Seriously though, I just handled one for the first time at a fishing expo and shakey head immediately came to mind.
  9. You mean Sweed? The Clark hit was on a ball carrier. Sweed's block was very similar to those hits Ward likes to do when people aren't looking his way. I'm not even sure Sweed's hit was illegal. Why would different calls earlier in the game make Clark shy away from making a good, clean hit?
  10. I separate by type (football or flipping) and then by weight.
  11. I went fishing with Rob a few weeks back. We tried to get some dropshot going but to no avail. I'm pretty much just getting gear ready for warm temps now.
  12. They have many names. Grinder, sub, and my preferred name for them...HOAGIE
  13. It is really heartwarming to see all the polite and well intetioned chatter that makes a whole lot of sense on these forums. Then again I guess thats only for the other fellas here :-/ Quote from another thread, where a few of us were having some fun at Burley's expense from one DD: tough to wade through all this senseless and/or ignorant chatter, but....what is the commonality, Burley? I have been called senseless and I have been called ignoratn but I have never been called senseless and ignorant on the same day I HUMBLEY ACCEPT THIS STATUE AND AWARD and I would like to thank those who made it possible The difference is in that thread there were a half dozen posts "at Burley's expense" and that's it. In this thread, I was giving my opinion on the topic in question. And I wasn't calling you ignorant and senseless. The comments as a whole were ignorant and senseless (if it makes you happy, the ignorant comment was not made by you. ;D) But enough about that, back to the topic.
  14. I would rather have a urinary catheter than eat at Quizno's. That doesn't mean much coming from you and your preference for that meat flavored sponge they call chicken at Subway... ;D
  15. Seriously? I would rather fall on a dirty meat slicer at a Quizno's than eat at a Subway.
  16. The helmet to helmet rule IS NOT just for quarterbacks. Even so, it was a correct no-call because McGahee lowered his head into the hit.
  17. Hey Dan - I took the day off on Friday and went down with a buddy of Rob's and mine. It was nice to avoid the weekend crowds. Especially at Greentop, where it gets TIGHT. good idea. Greentop was a MAD HOUSE on Saturday morning. Get anything good?
  18. yes, I have. BPS even tries to package some of their lures to resemble some of the LC packaging. Its deceitful if you ask me.
  19. tough to wade through all this senseless and/or ignorant chatter, but....what is the commonality, Burley?
  20. The one in Timonium isn't bad. I've been to three different shows and I would rank them as such: 1.Richmond - large focus on freshwater fishing, good seminars, and lots of hard to find and cool tackle 2. Timonium - I didn't think they had as much interesting tackle and there was more saltwater influence 3. Dulles - very small, focused more on hunting than other shows, not many independent tackle dealers.
  21. Wow! That is pretty darn cool. I've never been able to get very close to herons, they spook very easily most of the time. I am always surprised to see the size of meals that heron can eat. I saw one eat a shad during the shad run that was the length of my forearm.
  22. I've been to the one in Dulles and it was lame. Not worth the admission price IMO. Never been to one in Fredericksburg.
  23. The Fire Department of course!
  24. Just got back. Managed to get some nice stuff (and practically molested by vendors trying to sell me their products). I'm going to post a pic of my new goodies after I take a nap. I woke up earlier this morning than I do for class during the week! It was also nice to finally put some faces to some names from the site. I was glad to meet Rowland, Wayne, Sam, and Derek. Drums, when were you there?
  25. I'm leaving in a few minutes for BPS to spend a gift card, then to Green Top and lunch before heading to the RIR at 1pm.
