First time buyer kayak
I've got a fully loaded big rig with a truck bed extender. Let me tell ya, if your not on level ground it can be a real pain. There are some lakes I won't even attempt because of the steep banks. Even steep ramps can be a big pain.

Whopper plopper
I fished the black 90 yesterday for the first time. I did catch fish ( largest was 4lbs ). But, I had to use it like a popper. I only had one small fish chase it on a steady retrieve. I could have accomplished the same thing on a much cheaper popper. Not impressed.

Pitching/Flipping: Limitations for Kayak fishing?
I too am new to kayak flipping. When I use a 3/4 oz weight I have to toss it up more in order to punch through which in turn creates more splash on entry. Should I use a heavier weight? Or should I just shake it down? I hope that doesn't sound like a stupid question.

Oops replacement program
FYI, if you purchase from Gander Mountain they have a really cheap 3 year no questions asked replacement warranty. You don't even have to send the broken rod into them. Just call and tell them.

Lews Equipment
I have three of their rods and two reels. Fantastic performance from all of them. As I update I'll be replacing everything with Lews.

Anise baits not getting bit
I'm not making a plug here but I found a product called slab slobber. It's made for crappie but since I started using it on my lures I have caught more 3-4lb bass than ever before. Maybe I'm just getting better at fishing or there's something in that stuff.

A Goose Ate My Bait!
This last winter I was crappie fishing from a bridge that was about twenty feet off the water. I found the sweet spot and started catching 17 and 18 inch crappie. I was so excited, especially since no one else was catching anything. I had noticed a blue heron eyeballing me from the bank and on my third slab he decided that he wanted it more than me. It was so funny! Here I am trying to lift a 2lb crappie up twenty feet on 4lb test while simultaneously swatting at this heron with the pole while he's giving it his all trying to steal it before I can reach it. After a lot of yelling and funny dancing about I was able to land it. It was as if me being the only person catching anything wasn't enough, I had to make a big spectacle of myself fighting this bird.

Broke back bass oddity
Nope, it wasn't just the picture. I was holding it straight down. It had a bad hump back and a crooked tail. It had obviously had a hard life. I felt so bad for the crooked fish I took all of five seconds to snap the pic and release it.

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
That is a monster fish. Do y'all use a steel leader to catch those things? I think it would be great to have an online tourney, north vs south. Of course it would be difficult for the south since most of us don't have Internet... Or "real boats"! Then again, we don't have Asian carp either.

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Canada! That's a whole other country! You know us southern types don't have passports! Some of us never leave town.?
