Our sign read as follows: "With deepest regrets, we must inform our clients that, due to overwhelming demand, we are temporarily unable to provide the quality of meat that you ladies desire. As a result, we are forced to suspend operations until things firm up." Unfortunately, our sign was never posted.

Nitro929, you would receive a better response if you would bother to include capitalization and punctuation to your posts. If a person has to struggle to make sense of a post, that person usually just ignores it.

I took my new (used) boat out for the first time yesterday. It has a 2004, 150hp Mercury on it. I pumped the bulb until I was blue in the face and couldn't get it to firm up. I finally said "what the hell," backed the boat into the water, hit the key, and it fired right up and purred like a kitten. Now, somehow, I need to learn when I have squeezed the bulb enough. Is it going to be ten, twenty, fifty ... ?

Dan, since you are so myopic as to insist on tangible benefits, I'll name only one. It created jobs. There are many, many other benefits to humanity, but I won't bore you with the intangibles.

Tallydude, I grew up in Abbeville. My wife is from Rayne. She's a true Cajun and can still hold her own in Cajun French. I was improted from Arkansas at a young age. I learned only enough french to be a laughing stock among the locals. I miss the wonderful people and their lifestyles. I miss the fishing and hunting opportunities. I miss the great food. Would I move back? Never. There are a great many things about Louisiana that I don't miss.

The advancement of science and technology are NEVER a waste of money. The Apollo missions took place when America most needed a boost in morale. The Viet Nam war, coupled with both Kennedy's and MLK's assassinations made the U.S. of A. a somewhat dreary place. The Apollo missions restored our self-respect and gave the Russians a very bloody nose. That was very important to America's self-esteem at the time. Further, it set the stage for the Nations of our planet to cooperate in exploration of our solar system and beyond. The wonders that have been revealed are beyond imagination. Waste of money? Get real.

I *** you guys. My dad passed away about ten years ago. I don't miss him. My mother passed away about twenty-five years ago. I don't miss her. It's not because of the people they were, it's because of the people they had become. Booze destroys not one life, but many.

I find it very gratifying to watch this board, for the most part, police itself. We all know that the Mods still have to work their butts off, but the regulars also make a great contribution by setting an example for the newer members - and taking issue with them when necessary.

I played golf for years until it finally occurred to me that I didn't have the hand/eye coordination to be anything more than a hacker. That's when I took up bass fishing. Anyone want to buy a set of left-handed Ping irons and a Big Bertha driver?

RoLo, submission? Never! I am well aware of the smallmouth potential that Pickwick offers, as should any member who contemplates joining us on the Road Trip and performs more than cursory research. I was speaking to those who fish for LMB only and think a wimp location was chosen.

OK guys, for what it's worth, a lake that has a high potential for DD bass never comes into consideration when trying to locate a site for the next Road Trip. The most important considerations are which locale will draw the most members and does that locale have the facilities to accommodate the expected influx of members. Because participation in the event has been roughly doubling each year, we had to find a place that would accommodate about a hundred people, yet remain fisherman friendly. Those of you who attended the Kenlake trip and brought your boats know that the choice was a mistake. It's the least fisherman friendly place I've been to. Glenn, the Mods and we coordinators try to learn from the previous road trips to make the next trip more pleasurable for everyone. There are about twenty criteria that are used in the evaluation of a potential Road Trip site. Obviously, some are more important than others, but I reiterate that big bass potential is not one of them. The decision is made. It's Pickwick Lake in 2010. There is a possibility that someone may catch a DD bass, but the chances are slim. If you want to have a lot of fun, meet some great people and catch some decent sized bass, come join us at Pickwick. On the other hand, if you want to target your vacation trip to catching big bass, I suggest you go elsewhere. To paraphrase Abe Lincoln, You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

During my lake research I could find no fishing boats available other than the jon boats that you mentioned. However, if you want to rent a houseboat, pontoon boat or jet-ski there are plenty available. As car7t mentioned, don't let the lack of a boat keep you from making the trip. There are always empty seats available on the members boats.
