If you could spend one summer
The twin lakes of Tititikaka. I found a really sweet spot south of the Titi and just north of the Kaka. A tube bait works wonders in that area. 8-)

why does the forum take so long to load
Guys, this is one of the very few forums that automatically checks grammar and spelling when you post a message. Due to all of the spelling and grammar atrocities that are being perpetuated these days, the server slows down to a crawl trying to figure out what people are trying to say. ;D

Hey Burley!
I'm positive that I'm the only one on the board who has noticed your absence of late, but whaz up?

You're Invited to the 5th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
There's a liquor store nearby? That's great news for Kent and me. During the last outing, Kent and I had the foresight to bring with us ample quantities of the devil's brew. Unfortunately, other individuals either didn't plan ahead or had to fly in. In either case, our meager supplies were set upon by hoards of the less fortunate. The last couple of nights of the trip our supplies had been depleted to the point that I was afraid that I would have to go to bed sober.

to those with degrees in business...
If that's the type of grammar you use when preparing your reports, don't plan on getting ahead very soon. :

Anyone have suggestions for boat covers?
If you have had the boat cover for more than a year or so, I suggest that you lay in on the driveway and pressure-wash it. When the cover starts getting really dirty it begins to lose its water repellent qualities.

Oh, Ye of little brain who would make sport of my wine preference; have you no respect for a man who has spent a lifetime searching for the perfect fifty-cent glass of wine?

You have no idea how badly I wanted to attend this event, but I have a commitment that I can't get out of. Maybe next year.

oil use
Almost all two-stroke outboards use a ratio of 1:50. i.e. 1 oz oil to 50 oz gasoline. Since there are 128 ounces in a gallon, this equates to 2.56 ounces of oil per gallon of gas.

What gauge wire for trolling motor ?
If you are running wire from the stern to the bow I would recommend 6 GA. If the extension is only a few feet, 8 GA will be fine.

Ram mount mounting questions
I used stainless steel screws to mount my unit, but coated them liberally with silicon sealant to make sure they stayed put.

Sentry vs. Stabil
StarTron. It took a couple of months, but it cleaned up the carbs in my old 60hp to the point that it ran like new.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR KILLSWITCH LANYARD ATTACHED -VIDEO
Glenn, that took a while to percolate through my brain, but I finally realized that it's not the lanyard that's important. The important thing is that each person has his own key for the kill switch. That's a little detail I, and probably many others, have overlooked. Thanks for the heads-up.

Ken will never get my Mook T-shirt. However, I will be happy to send him my BR Kentucky Lake T-Shirt from last Spring. Unfortunately, when I was re-greasing the bearings on my boat trailer the other day, I somehow managed to get grease all over it. I'm sure Ken will not mind. At least he will not be shirtless. Did I mention that he will never get my Mook T-Shirt?

SammyLee, I'll ask the questions for RW. He's kinda shy. Does your friend have a sister? Does she have her own boat? If so, please PM RW with pictures of the boat. Changing the subject somewhat, if your friend is too ignorant or too "busy" to become a member of this great forum, I suggest you get him to sign up. As one of the Road Trip Coordinators, I tend to lose information provided by non-members. I guess it's because I'm getting on in years. :-/

Atchafalaya Basin
I fished the Basin last week-end. The water level is pretty low, so there are hundreds of exposed stumps and probably hundreds more just beneath the surface. The water temp was 85 degrees and the water very stained. We decided to fish along a row of old wooden bridge pilings that crossed one of the channels. My partner was fishing with a red Texas-rigged worm. He felt a bite and set the hook, but missed. Unfortunately, his prey decided to follow the lure back to the boat. Suddenly, about four feet from the boat, the head of a very large alligator plunged out of the water. I don't mind telling you that it scared the shet out of all three of us - gator included. As soon as the gator saw the boat he headed for China. He surfaced a couple of minutes later, well away from the boat. We guessed its length to be about eight feet. I haven't had such an adrenaline rush since I gave up being a cat burglar. If you have never fished the Basin and you are not fishing with someone who knows that swamp like the back of his hand, I strongly suggest that you take Catt's advice and carry a GPS unit with you. Depending upon where you launch from, it's very easy to get lost. After all, the Atchafalyla Basin is the largest swamp in the world.
