do you kiss your fish?
Kiss a fish? To me that's about as sanitary as licking a toilet bowl.

$200 for speeding?
Tallydude, we don't call them cars in Oklahoma. We call them horseless carriages. I have heard there a three of them. I use my mule, Hortense, to tow my Tracker. ;D ;D ;D

To my Eighth Grade English teacher: Dear Miss Primnickers Please stop rolling over in your grave. The posters on this thread really do know how to use proper spelling and pronunciation. They are simply too lazy to do so.

$200 for speeding?
Why do you hate motorcycle cops? Is it because they can see the word "STUPID" printed on your forehead?

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Jack, let's go! October is completely out for me. I already have two fishing trips (one with you) and my daughter's wedding planned for that month. Catt, I've read Buck Perry's book also, but I (mistakenly?) came away with a different interpretation. Since finishing the book, I've concentrated on fishing structure in ten to twelve feet of water; with very limited success. That's why I made the statement the other day that I need to move away from the banks. From reading your posts, you seem to concentrate on waters in the range of twenty feet and deeper. Is this due to the season? Do you move shallower in the spring and fall? Do you move deeper in winter?

Oil Prices Plunge!
Avid has made a very good point. A steep price of oil will provide the impetus needed for the development of alternative energy. Boone Pickens, a VERY wealthy oil man, has seen the handwriting on the wall and is investing tens of millions in the development of wind energy. One source of energy that Avid omitted is Natural Gas. To the best of my recollection, we have enough to last at least a hundred years. Despite the pain I feel at the pump, I'm very gratified to see that the Nitwits (our elected officials) are finally beginning to get off their butts and recognize that to do nothing is no longer an option. Maybe, in my lifetime, we will have coherent energy policy that incorporates all available options.

FISHING WITH SHARKBITE IN JUNE
Sharkbite, welcome to the forum. Don't tell anyone, but I think Muddy is one hell of a great guy. I'm glad he introduced you to the weird world of bass fishing and to this site. Dominick thinks highly of you, and that's good enough for me. I sincerly hope that we have to opportunity of all getting together, fishing, and catching a glimpse of Muddy's butt crack Er, catching a lot of big bass.

Back Seat open Sat. aug. 16th
Back it the days when I knew everything and was bullet-proof, I was on 24 hour call and working in the oil patch in South Louisiana. I learned that I could force myself to work 36 to 48 hours without sleep, and still do my job. My record was about 90 hours. I am a much older and wiser man now. These days, if anyone asks me to miss an entire night of sleep just for the sake of catching a few bass, I will respectfully decline and secretly question his sanity. ;D

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Thanks Jack. I'm really looking forward to being your co-angler. I hope to learn a lot. Speaking of learning, the posts on this thread have already taught me a whole new way of looking at structure. In short, I have learned to get away from the banks in many situations.

Anyone Excited about NASCAR?
Ya know Kent? I do believe you're right. NASCAR has become boring. I have watched very little of it this year. About the only races I bother to watch are the Daytona 500, the restrictor plate races and the road races. All the rest are just a bunch of yawn to me. With the exception of the big smash-up near the end, even the race at the Glenn was pretty ho-hum.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Just because I haven't posted doesn't mean that I'm not sucking up this information like a sponge. Saturday night I down loaded the Hi-Res map from Navionics Hot Maps Explorer, and LO AND BEHOLD a new world has opened for me. When I use the info from Catt and Fishfordollars and cross reference with the map, I am finding some really great places to fish. I promise that I will never tell anyone else about these great potential spots.

Could you please re-phrase your question? You've butchered the English language so badly that I can't figure out what you are trying to say.

new here-another "how big is this.." topic
I am positive that the bass is longer than your shoe. As for its true length? Who cares? ;D I'm always happy when I catch a bass that size, but I'm much happier when I catch a large one. Have you considered buying a Check-It Stick? www.checkitstik.com. They are inexpensive and are accepted nationwide as an accurate method of measuring the length of fish.

Olympics Opening Extravaganza
Did anyone watch the opening ceremonies? It was one of the most spectacular events I have ever seen! Word is, the Chinese spent $300 million for the ceremony alone. Absolutely awesome!

My S-10 and Fishin Season
Muddy, you forgot to mention the spaghetti sauce spilled on the dashboard and the rotten meatballs in your glove box. ;D

Toledo Bend?
Jack, point well taken. Back in the 60's, finding good grass was very important to me, but I hadn't yet started fishing.

Toledo Bend?
To Cat and Fishfordollars: In my own defense, I have fished T-Bend all of one times. Secondly, when I compared Jack's waypoints to the MapCreate Fishing Hot Spots topo, ABSOLUTELY ZERO structure was shown. No humps, roads, streams, etc. NOTHING! You guys know this lake like the back of your hand. I do not. Without your very valuable input I would NEVER consider fishing in those areas, because on the map, there ain't nothin there. Feel smug if you want to, but stop throwing rocks at me. It ain't my fault.

Pflueger Reels
I completely agree with Roostertails. I have both the Presidents and the Trions and like them equally as well.

The Upside Of Hurricanes
Thanks to Eduardo, our highs should remain in the low nineties for the remainder of the week. Only a 20% chance of rain, though. Everything will go to the West of us and provide some much needed relief to the parched folks out there.

Ok after all is said & done heres my favorite structure!
Because of the heat, I tried fishing at the Y yesterday morning. I got kicked out. It seems that the swimmers didn't appreciate me throwing a Zara Spook in amongst them. Go figure.

What water do you fish?
Almost all of the above, but you didn't allow an option for multiple answers.

Ride it out
Jack, even if it reaches hurricane strength it will still be just a little pizz-ant storm. Throw a party and invite your friends! I doubt that a three inch storm surge is going to cause a lot of flooding. ;D ;D ;D
