  1. Only got a couple small ones after the rain and late lunch (catfish and crappie) with friends. Attempts at more fresh crappie were unsuccessful. Saw eagles and loons everywhere tho, i think we’ve learned from the neighbors there’s an eagle nest up in the trees behind our house on a farm. Last two days one flew over our roof and the neighbors and you hear them chirp everyday at sunrise
  2. I had one swim by our dock all evening Friday, I’m not worried about it but they do seem to cause trouble in small bodies of water. This water is a massive river system so they are just part of it all
  3. @The Bassman, possible impacts of the mink? You’re right it’s not exactly legal for Joe homeowner to move wildlife but people like me have a permit to do it
  4. Striper, gar, walleye, catfish, drum, crappie, bluegill, shellcracker, skipjack, sturgeon, white bass, yellow bass, redbreast, yellow perch, rock bass. I’ve caught 8-10 species in a 2-3 hour trip after work many times, I like to catch about anything except trout
  5. I went with my buddy that has FFS again the other day, I have no clue how anyone could ever catch a fish that way, it’s quite difficult.
  6. They also threw a pick 6 but I think somebody was offsides
  7. I always thought a paddlefish looked like a basking shark…..
  8. Bungles have new hope!!!!
  9. “why are you dressed like a chicken?”
  10. I’ve been told by dozens of people that I look just like Marv 😂. Me and my wife even went as the wet bandits to a Christmas costume party once and yes there were photos. “Crowbars, up!”
  11. Tough sledding on this side of the mtn for me as well today @Woody B. I narrowly avoided skunk but I did get one and lost another boatside. My buddy got a nice one in his tracker right after I left the honey hole, haha. Took a friend up to a dam to fish shallow swift current with his fly rod after that and it just wasn’t happening . Got some cool photos tho, saw loons and eagles and even witnessed two loons in flight and before it all began the sunrise was nice from the deck
  12. @Woody B, I am quite shocked you have never caught a drum, maybe they’re just aren’t many of them in the Catawba. I would bet it was definitely a carp scale you got, I try to snag carp all the time and only get scales. Also no hook on earth will go thru a gar scale, I cut them with tin snips. Have seen others use a sawzall. Native Americans used gar scales for arrow points and armor plates
  13. This is all so stupid. The only reason anyone is hip drop tackling is because they get flagged for any other tackle. Can’t hit the head can’t hit the legs can’t drive to the ground can’t land on them, all that’s left is hip drop. All these rules about not trying to get injured are such a joke, if you are scared to get injured stay home and lay on bubble wrap. Some people have to risk their lives at work everyday for $15/hour.
  14. I just get it down to depth and twitch it, I never do the crazy ripping with any jerkbait. Well I’ve tried it just never caught anything hHa
  15. Husky jerk is my fav
  16. Hey Bob look who came to visit my dock this evening while I was catfishing. I think one of my dogs could smell it from the porch and kept barking and scaring it 😂
  17. I’d be throwing nothing but the shakey! Then again that’s about all I do anyway my buddy has been killing it with a Texas rig finesse worm this year out the back of my boat. I just hate looking for a hook and sinker so I always reach for the jighead
  18. Teachers is good for an affordable scotch. Mcclellands islay is better but not really hard to find . From there on up you burn the hole in your wallet
  19. My storage compartment was totally soaked inside, bluuuuhhhh. Theres only one on my boat and it’s where I keep 100% of tackle so……… it’s wet. That time of year I guess, we needed some rain 😂 I had a fan going, must have set it to spin the wrong way. Our air is 100% humidity so maybe that’s not helping I use like 6-8 packs of worms and a bunch of jigheads over the course of a year, I just haul hundreds of jerkbaits and crankbaits around to rust them
  20. Oh… dear….. you ever had one fling you across the beach?
  21. So on the opposite end of the spectrum, last night we were drifting towards a honey hole. My buddy says “man, somehow you always get the big ones right here and I never do.” Next thing you know he’s hooked up to a nice 20” SMB . And I was tickled to see it, bet he’s got more confidence fishing that spot now for the future. he who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted
  22. All those hooks would rust thru before I ever casted them 😂 I fished two days in a downpour last weekend and my stuff took a severe beating. I think I fished with 2 lures and ruined 200
  23. Thats sucks!!! I thought maybe they were maybe a tad more responsible
  24. Thank you sir, may try some of this tactic this weekend. I’ve never fished a jig with the reel handle unless I was swimming one thru grass
  25. SMB and walleye have to share the same rivers here, they can’t just up and leave
