I just asked my son who’s in 7th grade if he knew about Pearl Harbor. He said, “it was a bombing a long time ago.” He also said they have not taught it in school so far. I do know they hit on 9/11 quite a bit in September. I was a junior in HS when 9/11 happened. Every year when I was in school we did learn about Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was a major event in our country’s history so was 9/11. 9/11 is this generations and mine as well’s Pearl Harbor.

I’ve only seen one lake iced over so far down here. It’s been pretty mild so far which I’m hoping will continue. I’m going to go with March 21 for an ice out date down here.

From what I’ve seen they’re good boats. They’re a cookie cutter boat and some will say they have bad reviews but they’re the number one selling boat so naturally they’ll have the most bad reviews. The other thing they get a bad rap about is the wood. If you do your research on treated wood and know how wood is actually treated and it’s probably taken care of it’ll be a good boat for decades to come. Good luck!

This year I fished four. They’re all less than 200 acres. One of them I had never fished before, another one had been forever since I had fished. The other two I fish yearly. One of them is special to me. To launch your boat you need to back down a two track probably 300’ or so which weeds out most anglers. There are maybe five houses and I’ve seen 2-3 people on the lake at one time. My wife and I both caught our PB’s on that lake.

My good friend Frank is teaching 6poundbass trapping. This is today’s haul.

My contractor has a 2024 GMC Denali 3500 with the diesel and that is one sweet ride! He got one in white and his brother got the grey. I’ll be taking it for a ride next week and start the dreaming. 😁 Congrats on the new truck!

The one property we hunt is my friends and it’s only 20 acres and all woods with a swamp on the east side. Sunday was the last day my son and I could hunt and my friend drove the swamp. The other property is my parents which is 40 acres with only 10 being woods and the rest, this year anyway is beans. Deer drives have been a thing here for my group anyways, but I agree with you it doesn’t seem to be a common thing anymore. Interesting and frustrating revelation the past 24 hrs. I woke up to a text from my friend and he sent me a video of two decent bucks sparring just before midnight, then they were back at it again at 2:30. When I woke up at 5:30 there were over 100 pictures over the night between the two cameras. I kept getting notifications throughout the morning after daylight and one was a really good buck! The two sparring and the big one after daylight we’ve never seen before. The big one this morning had a harem of doe so it seems as if a group of deer have been pushed out of their normal area and moved to this property. Basically we’ve had nocturnal deer for weeks then all of a sudden they’re having a party in front of the two cameras in the daylight. They have me scratching my head.

Well 6poundbass was unsuccessful in bagging a buck this year. The rifle season ends the 30th of this month and we won’t have a chance to get out. Muzzleloader season kicks off after that, which I don’t have one so we won’t be participating in that. He did pass on a couple smaller bucks during bow season which I’m proud of him for letting them go. Late doe season kicks off Dec. 11 and goes until the end of the year. Hopefully he’ll get a shot on a doe. Side note, after the bucks basically disappeared from the face of the earth for the last week or so they are showing up on the trail cam again. There was even a 9pt we’ve yet to see make his appearance Sunday night around 9pm. These bucks aren’t stupid!
