Meet George. George is a button buck that came out in front of our stand tonight, ate some grass, and decided to lay in those weeds and take an afternoon cat nap.

Hunt number two in the books last night. The weather was crap all day yesterday but did start to clear up just before we hit the tree stands. The wind was out of the NW which didn’t set up good for us since the deer like to come from the corn just south of our stands. We had one small buck come in briefly and go back to the corn. I’m almost certain he smelled us. About and hour later we had a doe come in followed by another small buck. The buck began chasing the doe around. Two other doe made an appearance and six turkeys. My friend (the property owner) was going out this morning so we decided to take the morning off, but we’ll be out again tonight. This big boy showed up Friday morning. This is the first we’ve seen him this year. Going back through the photos from last year we got him twice on camera so it’s nice to see he made it through last year’s hunting season.

I’ve had moose once and it was very good! So far my big game rank as far as taste goes would be, 1: Caribou 2: Moose 3: Elk 4: Deer

I’m left handed. I cast with my left and reel with my right with both set ups. I’ve never thought to try switching hands. It’s always made sense to me to have my power arm/hand in full control.

1 of 3 for me. I was able to get out more. The other two goals, new PB and learn more about my electronics, they’ll come some other time. I’m just glad I got out a lot more this year.

This morning was an active morning for us. We had a big spike come which 6poundbass turned down. Over the next couple hours we had four doe come into range one of which went right to his ladder. She was curious and even looked up, but she couldn’t quite figure out what was wrong, and went about her morning. We had a few Tom turkeys come in as well.

Since our cold snap over the last week or so the deer have really started to move and the bucks are more present on the deer cams. There are two shooters (nothing huge) and 4-5 more that will be nice in the next year or two. Tomorrow will be 6poundbass’s first bow hunt.

A groundhog! Not just any groundhog but Punxsutawney Phil. You work one day a year, get paraded around by a couple of guys dressed up looking like doofuses, and mess with humans emotions by saying early spring or a longer winter. Not too bad for a varmint. 😂

Nice work. I want to get out a couple more times but the weekends are it for me and with the wind and rain they’re not looking too promising. 🤬

Exactly. I’m not a leader guy. Maybe some day once I become a little longer in the tooth I’ll ad a FC leader, but for now just straight braids or FC.
