  1. Is this regardless of the branch they served? My grandpa served in the US Army.
  2. Grand Rapids got 10.5” yesterday. A little further north and further east of the lake we got 8-9”. Watching the local weather they said we have not seen the sun in 11 days and it doesn’t look like we will for at least the next 7! @MN Fisher your bitter cold temps will arrive here Friday. Not as cold as yours but they’re saying highs Friday-Sunday low teens.
  3. What kind of info does this provide? I’ve always wondered about my Grandpa’s time during WWII. All I know is he fought in New Guinea. I have his and his brother’s dog tags, would their service numbers be on them?
  4. To quote Josh Allen, “Go Bills”
  5. My son saw it and said it was a pretty good movie.
  6. Holy smoke those are some bitter windchills! Your weather is bitter cold, comes across the lake, warms up, sucks up a bunch of moisture, blocks the sun, and dumps said moisture all over us. I’m pretty sure I’ll take the white stuff over those temps.
  7. Winter weather advisory until 1 am tomorrow with lake effect snowing. We’ve gotten 5” of snow in about 12 hrs and it’s still snow. Forecast calls for snow every day for the next 6 days. Pretty safe to say we’re going to have a white Christmas. I’m good with that.
  8. My first try at a taco pizza. Didn’t turn out too bad.
  9. I was pretty good at Guitar Hero 15-16 years ago. I even beat Tom Morello in a guitar competition! Does that count? ? I had an electric when I was 14, but became frustrated due to the lack of progress. My father in-law had played since he was 5. He got me an acoustic one year for Christmas with plans that he’d teach me when he retired. He retired, my wife and I had our son, and my father in-law passed away about a year later. We never really got to get into full on lessons. I still have my acoustic and he gave me his acoustic days before he passed. I need to make time for lessons, I really do.
  10. Good tune! Same scenario here. I’m sure we won’t get as much though. Nonetheless, we’ll have a white Christmas, and the snow will brighten things up around here. It’s been so gloomy and grey around here. I swear we haven’t seen the sun in about a month!
  11. If we lived closer she would in a heartbeat. I just got done brushing Hank out myself. Apparently I can’t afford my wife’s services. I’ve neglected him a bit. He looked like he was living under an overpass by the river somewhere. After 45 minutes, a nap from Hank, and almost a trash bag full of fur later, Hank is good as new!
  12. Super cool breed and very loyal! Gotta keep them busy or they’ll find their own entertainment which never turns out good for the home. Of course you know this though. I watched the movie Hatchie (Hatchie was an Akita) that’ll tug at your heart strings a bit.
  13. No need for apologies. ?
  14. Congrats on the new PJ’s! This thread is for those who participated in the Bassresource Fishmas exchange to show off what the received. ?
  15. Donate them to Pure fishing so everyone that gets the secret 50% off codes don’t receive broken half off rods. ?
  16. The risk I took wasn’t a huge risk, but big enough at the time for our young family. I stayed in the same field and left the company I was established at, to go to the competition. I left for numerous reasons, one advancement opportunities or lack there of, and two the crazy amount of hours which caused me to miss out on things at home with my son who was four at the time. I took a pay cut and basically started at the bottom. It worked out great! I worked my way up the ladder which brought more money. On this side of the state our company had only one customer. This was great for me because I’ve developed a great working relationship with the customer (utility company) and I’m their go to. This is great because if the right position opens up there, I’m throwing my hat in. Here’s the thing though, the position I just mentioned was supposed to open this year. As the year went on, it was pushed to next year. Now they’re in “lean mode” so it’s doubtful it’ll happen in 2023. A couple months ago I talked with the guy who hired me to this company. He left last year to work for the company who oversees all utility locating in Michigan. He’s been talking to me about taking over the west side of the state doing what he does (he currently covers 3/4 of the state). This would be an absolutely great opportunity! So I have some thinking to do and some more talking with him to do. I’m not a big risk taker so these things are out of my comfort zone.
  17. It was still taught to us in the late 80’s early 90’s. I only use it to sign my name. I always had legible handwriting but nowhere near or nice. I have an excuse though, I’m left handed, and left handed people are know to have worse handwriting than right handed people. By the end of the school day my hand would have pencil lead or ink from dragging my hand through it all day. ?
  18. I’m not sure what is going on with Detroit but holy cow are they on a tear. Five of the last six games with a W. The radio said this morning they are coming into the easiest part of their schedule too With the Jets being the toughest. Keep in mind they have the Rams first round pick, so if they continue to suck the Lions could get a top five pick. In other news, the Bills continue to roll. They didn’t look the greatest yesterday but they got the win. Go Bills!
  19. He didn’t seem to mind holding the reptiles. How did mom and grandma handle him holding them?
  20. I did not know this. Obviously I didn’t figure someone used the fishing line and re-spooled it. Good to know for other products.
  21. How about a curveball? ?
  22. Tucker looks exactly like my wife’s paint, Art. He was a good horse and lived to be 28. I met him when he was 16 or so. He was like a big dog! I’d be out fixing fence because he’d always break it. He’d follow me around, put his snout under my arm, and lift his head wanting me to pet him. He’d also grab my pliers out of my back pocket and play hide and go seek. My wife would barrel race him when she was younger but bucked her into the back of a truck and intimidated her and everyone else from that point on. I never rode him, and he tried to intimidate me, but we had a mutual respect that he obeyed me, and I never tried to ride him. ?
  23. Well if it were July, the onslaught of wind was probably because of the cottonwood trees. When that white crap is falling it’s almost always windy so it blows it all over the place. It gets all over the lakes and on your line and can make fishing not enjoyable at all. Where I am in the middle of the state it seems like there surrounding every lake. So if you want to ramp up production on your lures, come on up and I’ll help you cut everyone of them down. ?
