  1. I second the Tatula 7'1" ML, and Tatula LT 3000! It's an extremely sensitive, light, and balanced setup. That combo can do everything you would need from a ML rod.
  2. I've had very bad experiences with VMC snaps in general.
  3. These are my favorites, always T Rigged and pegged Zoom: Super Speed Craw Speed Craw Z-Craw YUM: Christie Craw
  4. I use 2 power MBR's for 3-4" underspin/belly weighted hooks, poppers, open hook grubs.
  5. I limit myself to bringing 5 3600 Plano boxes in one Cabela's tackle bag. I never feel like I need more than that. Lots of times I bring the tackle bag and 3 3600 boxes, and a terminal tackle box. I have found less is more. Sometimes I end up adding a box if I'm throwing glide baits.
  6. Great for everything, I use them for finesse fishing to frogging.
  7. I don't have that Tatula rod, but the two I have are so much better that my Fury and Sierra rods in every way. I'm talking spinning rods though, not casting.
  8. I regularly use 8 and 10lb braid with 8 and 10lb FC, and tie an FG without issue. I'm curious why people have trouble tying the FG. I never had any problems, but it seem to make some people stumble.
  9. The Phenix 71L is an excellent rod. I prefer it to the Dobyns. I’ve caught lots of bass with the Phenix, including a 6.75 lmb, and it handled it really well. It was an epic fight , but it rocked it.
  10. If you want light, and balanced, go with the 705. It's a very versatile rod too.

  12. Get some Mepp's Aglia, Black Fury, and Aglia Long bladed spinners, and you can cover the whole water column. Great lures
  13. I gave up on all snaps unless I'm using 8lb or less line. Under 8lb line I will use cross locks for small cranks. The worst snaps I've used were the VMC cross lock snaps.
  14. I’m looking for replacement skirt material for Bitsy bug jigs. It has a finer thickness than boss or dirty jig skirts. Ideas?
  15. I used to fish a Zoom Fat Albert with a 3/16oz weight all the time. I caught lots of fish with it. I haven’t used one in years for some reason.
  16. I just got into light bait casting, I’m not sure if it’s considered BFS or not. I have about 40 bass on the 71L and I can’t find any problems with it at all, it does everything I’ve tried really well. The taper is really perfect, and has plenty of backbone. That big bass had it bent into the backbone with 8lb InvizX, and did a hell of a job. I can also report the Tatula has an exceptionally smooth drag with such light line too. So is this rig BFS, or just a light setup?
  17. Fished from 4pm-7:30pm today with my Dobyns, with a 3/32 ned, and my Phenix 71L with an 1/8oz Owner Ultrahead w/a Zman GOAT and caught a bunch of bass on both. The weeds have just started coming up, so I was pulling the baits through them and the Dobyns did just fine. However the Phenix was better, maybe because the the Owner head pulled through better. I caught a 2.5 on the Dobyns, and a 3lber, and this tank that was 6.75lbs on the Phenix. It was a great fight, and the Phenix handled it great.
  18. Get a Bantam MGL! Fantastic reel.
  19. Both Daiwa and Shimano, as long as proper maintenance is done. I clean, and re-lube 3-4 times a year. Attention as soon as they feel a little less than optimum feeling, and they are all still trouble-free. Except for two Shimano Curado 70's (silver older model) I had two with gear problems. Maybe I should take Shimano off my trouble-free list.
  20. How would it work with 8 or 10lb FC, or 20lb braid?
  21. Is this the same reel as the ALDEBARAN Mg7?
  22. I have two of both reels. Both are fantastic, and great if you like small reels. I use mine with 20 or 30lb braid for all sorts of things. They are great for 3/16-1/2oz baits. They are somewhat similar.
  23. I have 5 Tatula LT reels 2-1000 (8lb braid), 1-2500 (10lb braid), 2-3000 (10lb braid) They all cast incredibly, have perfect line management, and are as smooth as day one. I have no answer for you though.
