Cotton Cordell Bait Question/Identification
When it comes to my lipless cranks, I don't fish the Super Spot nearly as much as I used to. So maybe something has changed that I haven't heard about, and I certainly can't find any info about this bait online. So I was at Walmart yesterday and decided to take a stroll through their fishing section. which I haven't done in years. I come across Their lipless section and decide to get a few different Super Spots since they were marked so cheap. When I got home and opened them, I notice one is different compared to all my other Super Spots (it's the bottom bait in the first pic...the gill/perch pattern). It also had a little different packaging from the other ones they had at the store. Also, on the package it doesn't say "Super Spot" anywhere. It also doesn't say "Cordell" or "Super Spot" on the side of the body either like all others. A few more differences- The body doesn't have a slight indentation like the others do. And Spots always have either a perfect spot/circle on them, or none at all (some craw patterns). This one has a different shaped marking. Also, the gill plate is actually raised up, unlike the other Super Spots. And the eyes are recessed a bit, where as the others are all painted on. And looking from the top, you can see how the nose is flat instead of rounded, like the normal Super Spots. Anyways, any info on this bait? Just curious what the deal is...

Never have I ever....
Carolina Rig. Tho it may have something to do with that fact that I've never fished it. ?

What is the name of this?
That is called an overpriced topwater bait (after seeing the price in the link Avalonjohn44 provided). ? I had one of these years ago, unltil a bowfin literally crushed it into pieces. Can't believe they still make them. And I certainly can't believe they charge $10 for it.

Issues changing out split rings (Owner Hyper Wire)
Yeah, I'm not sure what the issue is. Like I said I'm barley opening the rings juuuust enough to squeeze the eye of the hook in. Owner makes amazing terminal tackle obviously. Could it be possible I got a bad pack? Doubtful. I just don't get it. And you change your hooks on the 6th Sense baits too? I think the hooks they use are top notch. Definitely the best I've seen come stock on any hardbaits I've ever fished.

Issues changing out split rings (Owner Hyper Wire)
I appreciate all the replies, thanks! Maybe I'll buy those Texas Tackle pliers and see if that helps. But honestly, the way I'm doing it is I'm opening the ring just enough to get the hook on. I'm being super careful not to bend them out farther than need-be. The point on these pliers are super small. Team9nine and WRB, I've tried it that way as well, but there's still a small gap in the rings when all is said and done. The gauge of the hooks on the size 1 and 2 Triple Grips are definitely thicker than stock hooks. But I know others use these hooks, so that can't be the issue. I'm sure the hooks won't come out of the rings, but I still don't wanna take that chance. To those who doesn't have this issue, are you saying there's zero gap in the rings after you put them on? Again, thanks guys!

Issues changing out split rings (Owner Hyper Wire)
Hey guys. So I've never been real good with upgrading my split rings (or even hooks) on my baits in the past. But this year I bought a bunch of KVD triple grips and plan on replacing hooks on most of my Strike King crankbaits. Well, a few weeks ago, when I started taking the stock hooks off the baits, I noticed the stock split rings would bend out quite a bit and not snap back as tight as they originally were. So I decided to place an order for Owner Hyper Wires. I got the Owners in the other day, and decided to start swapping the hooks/rings out again today. Well, I'm having the same issue with the Owners. They don't snap back tight tight after putting them on the lure. And this is even before I put the thicker gauge Triple Grips through them. Is this the norm? Am I doing something wrong? Here's a few pics. Appreciate any insight. This first pic is of the stock rings. Nice and tight. This is a pic of the Owner ring after putting it on the bait. And the Owner Hyper Wire after adding the Triple Grip. And here's a 1.5 I did, same results. And the tool I'm using. I'm trying hard not to pinch them too hard so I don't bend out the rings.

Dobyns rod true purpose.
Hey, it's your rod, you can do whatever you want with it. If it were me and I didn't care for it, I would've sold it (or gave it to family member/friend) and bought a cheap rod to use for this purpose. Not a $350 rod. But as I said, it's your rod so you can do whatever you please.

Deps and OSP Lures -Question and Reviews?
Odered Ordered a pack of these from The Hook Up Tackle and just got them yesterday. Obviously I haven't used them yet since there's ice on my lakes, but I think this little bait will work great as a trailer on the Stealth Blade, especially in clear(er) water situations. They also have a smell to them. Wooowee! In a good way tho. I think they'll do great as a drop shot bait as well. Here's a few pics I took for ya. Top view-

Favorite color jerk bait
I guess my 2 favorites would have to be Perch and GP Stain Reaction OB. Also a big fan of Mat Shad (in the 110).

Spike It vs. JJ's Magic
No you cannot. It's like acid and will dissolve Z-Man plastics.

The latest sale thread
I'm curious if they have their 110 Jr. mismarked. They have it listed for $23.99. But the 110+1 Jr. listed correctly at $19.99 (which is also the retail price of the regular 110 Jr). I notice all their other Megabass baits are listed at retail price, which is why I wonder if this indeed a mistake on their end.

The Same Old Same Old
I think people stick with the handful of techniques they've had success with in the past. Personally, while I do the same to some extent, there's nothing like catching a bass on a new technique/bait. Seeing a bass smash a size 50 SPRO BBZ-1 Rat, or getting one to hit a 7-8" swimbait slow-rolling it on the bottom is just fun.

Braid to leader vs fluorocarbon Slack like sensitivity
As far as slack line goes, fluoro has more sensitivity. Check out the 2:57 mark. Personally, I use high-vis braid to fluoro leader for stuff like Wacky Rig and Ned Rig. For Texas Rigged soft plastics and jigs, I use straight fluoro 99% of the time.

Ebay Listing.... How does this happen?
I never buy off ebay unless the seller has high rating/have sold a lot of stuff.

Deps and OSP Lures -Question and Reviews?
Just for looks-purposes, here's a comparison of the Hog Farmer Spunk Shad (4.5) and the 10,000 Fish Yoto Worm (4.75) on the Stealth Blade. They both weigh exactly the same. I do think the Spunk Shad in 3.5 would be better on the Stealth Blade and the 4.5 on regular bladed jigs. Side view- Top view-

Hollow body swimbaits...
I don't throw them that often. A few that work well and don't break the bank are the Scottsboro Tackle swimbait, and the Zoom Swimmer.
-
Berkley Cutter
I can confirm. This bait does work better when it's in the water as opposed to out of the water.

Gary Yamamoto autographed hat
It's kind of like the REO Speedwagon pick I caught at a concert one time. Probably not worth much to others, but to me it is. And that's all that matters.

The trailer I was using on both those catches was a Z Craw Jr.
