  1. The only part of BASS that ESPN cares about is the Elite Series and $$ signs now. After all ESPN is a media company and the elites are on TV every week. They are destroying BASS and what it stands for. Just look at what they are doing with the youth programs, federation nation, elites by removing the co-anglers, ect. Now, Don Corkran is not returning as the director of BASS Federation Nation. There will be a guy from ESPN as acting director. The future isn't looking good. If someone is going to buy BASS from ESPN they need to in a hurry before they destroy it to the point that everyone is gone except the elites. If Johnny Morris buys BASS I think it would be a good move for the future of BASS. He would take care of the fishermen from the youth to the elites. One thing to keep in mind is that the pros don't pay for all there tackle. The youth, weekend angler, and lower level tournament anglers are the ones buying the products. Just my .02 cents!!!!
  2. All rod have the patental to break because of the materal they are made out of today. Rods are lighter and more sensitive then ever before. Gary Lommis said it best right in one of there catalogs: I COULD BUILD YOU A ROD THAT WOULDN'T BREAK BUT YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO FISH WITH IT.
  3. That was a great choice in rod selection and company. I love all my St Croix rods. Now all you will want is high end rods. ;D RW the ES68MXF is my favorite rod I own.
  4. 1. Senko (Green Pumpkin or Watermelon) 2. Tube (Green Pumpkin) 3. Jerkbait (Staysee or Slender Pointer) 4. Jig (Brown or PB&J) 5. Crankbait (RC 1.5 or DD22)
  5. Great Day!!! I need to get on the water and off the ice!!!!
  6. How is the Columbia River in May????
  7. Sweeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I fish all Daiwa casting reels and I don't own a Fuego. However, from what I have heard about them I would say the Curado would be the better choice. Shimano make great reels and thats a fact. I can't say a bad thing about the I just prefer Daiwa.
  9. All depends on the cranks, cover, and depth your look to get to. 10lb co-poly is a great place to start.
  10. I just picked up 6 traps today at Gander Mountain. I went through all the ones on the pegs that were still marked $3.29. They are marked on the pegs at $5.99. Are you kidding me!! The store wasn't to happy but the gave them to me for $3.29. They all were in the old packing except the LEGEND sticker. Same old cheap hooks and round o-rings. The first thing I did was change all the hooks and increasd the baits price by a little over a dollar. Now I can't wait to go out and beat them against all the cover and trash that pretty looking paint job.
  11. Welcome Great Choice!! I have a Daiwa Sol on a St Croix ES70MF and it's nice but my first choice is the Daiwa Sol on a St Croix ES68MXF. It is just my personal preference. I'm sure you will love the set-up. CB
  12. How many of you fish one of the federations (TBF) FLW or (Federtion Nation) BASS?
  13. I don't disagree with what alot of what you say. However, The topic on hand is the federation FLW (TBF) and BASS (FEDERATION NATION). It is not the weekend series, opens, pro-ams, BFL's, ect. The two federations, and both are set up that at divisional the boater and nonboaters split the day.
  14. The way we do it is you pre fish with your travel partner. All expences are split with the travel partner. During and after pre fish the travel partners boater and nonboater should disscuss fishing locations. A agreement should be made on fishing locations for the tournament. There is a understanding that if you take someone to a spot that you and your travel partner found they will not fish it with another days draw. A example is this years state qualifer, on day 1 I drew a guy that we went to his spot first thing in the morning. I had over 27lb in the boat in 2 hours. He only had one 2 1/2 lber before we left. Before we even returned to the dock I let him know that I would not return to his water the rest of the tournament. That was his water and he found it during pre fishing.
  15. The key is to line watch if your waiting to feel the bite you maybe missing alot of fish.
  16. I will throw my .02 in also. First the topic being talked about is on the TBF (FLW) not Federation Nation (BASS). In my state the way the TBF is setup you travel with a partner to the state qualifing tournament and fish as a team. The top 6 teams advance to divisionals. The boater being the boater and non boater being the non boater (at divisionals the non boater gets 1/2 the day). At divisionals the top 2 out of each state advance to nationals. The top place as the boater and the next as the nonboater at nationals. The runnerup in the state can also be a boater but has to fish as a non boater a nationals. Even though he may have a $50,000 boat at home. In my state in BASS for the state qualifier you pair up. You room and travel together spliting everything in 1/2. It is then a draw and the boater and non boater split the day in half. The top 12 make the state team the top 6 boaters and the next 6 being nonboater going to divisionals. Everyone competing against each other. The 6 non boaters could all own there own boats. We then pair up to go to divisionals spliting the cost of everything and pre fishing together. At divisionals the day is then split in 1/2 during the tournament. Everyone is competing against each other. The expences are split the whole way down the middle. (THIS IS THE FEDERATION NOT OPEN TOURNAMENTS OR A PRO-AM) The boaters all should know this and if they are not ok with it then they should fish the opens or pro-am's. When traveling in the federation the cost is split and the work is split (wiping down the boat, puting the cover on, pluging the boat in at night, cleaning the boat out, fueling up, ect. Also keep in mind that at the state qual level each state does it a little differently. Our state fishes one state qual tournament to field there state team others may do a series. Just my 2 cents like I said
  17. I would like to say the daiwa sol but it would be the stradic at the price point.
  18. St Croix legend tournament 7'0 MM (small cranker) with a daiwa sol. This setup will throw the smallest cranks fine. I will also fish RC 1.5's on this setup.
  19. The more agressive the fish the faster the retrive. The less agressive the slower the retrive. When using them as a search bait I will burn them.
  20. I didn't not want to share with everyone I just wanted to have my facts straight first. The_Natural is right on with the spoons. I have four in 2 different sizes. They are a little expensive I believe there around $8.00 each. I have not really fished them much yet so I can't give a judgment. They do have the strips of tape that gives them there look.
  21. St. Croix premier glass rod 7'0 M with mod/fast action. It's only $110 and it can handle everything you want it for.
  22. I would go with the Daiwa X super-tuned or spend a little more and get the zillion.
