  2. Sorry, haven't used either of those rods, would like to say WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet
  3. This may not be much of an answer . I used Uncle Josh products when I first started using jigs. IMHO a REAL pain in the butt. Started using plastic and didn't notice that pork was better. There are so many options in plastics now, you can find SOMETHING that gives you confidence! I have a couple of jars stuck somewhere that I know probably couldn't be opened with vise grips and if by chance you did open one the smell......well, we won't go there As Ever, skillet
  4. There is a whole library of tips and articles on the site. Get a comfortable chair and do some reading. Keep some notes on things that may not be so clear and then post the questions. Folks can help clear those things up for you. WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet

  7. This may not be the whole story. In the 50s the goverment (state I think) came thru and would dig a "pond" for folks and stock it for free. I have fished ponds 50' across to the point where they become small lakes. The folks that owned the land were responsible for what happened to them after they were dug and stocked... As Ever, skillet
  8. There are several members that build rods. Ask the question on the Tacklemaking Board... As ever, skillet
  9. Saw the packages at BPS but can't recall the name (have slept since then :-[). Strike King has a floating worm... As Ever, skillet

  11. They have a contest like that in Memphis. Always took my daughters when they were of an age. Don't know who had more fun, me or them... As Ever, skillet
  12. Ain't that the way it always is. If you had needed to get rid of the truck that minute, you would still be waiting for the first call. Good Luck with the new truck... As Ever, skillet
  13. Thanks, The Jake, for trying to take up my slack. I apologize for getting ya'lls bowels in an uproar !!! I should have worded it better :-[. The Jake is right. There were several posts about the rebates from Shimano reels. Who had got theirs and those that hadn't I had mentioned on one of them about saving mine for a Crucial. I just wrent off from there not thinking about the confusion it might cause with other members . Can't undo the mess but I'll try and be more clear from now on. Tell Glenn I'll take a voluntary demotion back to Newbie :'(... Really :-[, skillet
  14. Had to look REALLY hard, thought you were just holding your hands that far apart ;D... As Ever, skillet

  18. hawg caller (you smelly piece of 2 day old cut bait ;D), I really have to say THANK YOU. Have been wanting that rod for quite a while now. Been saving my nickles and dimes (and rebate) for quite a while. I figure what Momma don't know, won't come back to bite me on the butt . That reminds me of what one of the members had in his sig. "My one biggest fear is if something happens to me, my wife will sell my gear for what I TOLD her it was worth" ... As Ever, skillet BTW Thanks Jake_P!!!
  19. The infernal whispering of Ol' Banana Breath finally wore me down (and the rebate from Shimano didn't hurt things either )! BPS got a new shipment of Shimano rods in. I got a 6'6" M with Ef tip for 3/16 - 5/16 (maybe 3/8) t-rigs and jigs. Haven't gotten on the water with it yet but wore out my front yard ;D with it today. It's GREAT!!! First really nice rod I've ever owned. Glad I finally listened to the homewrecker... As Ever, skillet
  20. I fished original Stren for a looonnng time and finally changed over to CXX and was tickled pink with the strength and no stretch (compared to what I had been using). The memory thing (for me) was a real problem. Started using US and the strength thing was there and LOT less memory. Don't have any figures to back up breaking point but both lines (12 lb) would either pull loose or straighten the hook without breaking... As Ever, skillet
  21. I always thought it was pretty much a night time lure. From other posts on it some members fish it pretty much whenever the topwater bite is on (with good results )... As Ever, skillet
  22. Sounds to me like it was well worth 4 hrs ... As Ever, skillet
  23. I know that bass and bream both come from the sunfish family but that "little" butterball is shaped like a bream ;D... As ever, skillet
  24. As always, good pics! In the 1st pic, don't think I've ever seen one that short that was that big around ... As Ever, skillet
  25. When you get to recognizing what most things feel like on the bottom, if you get to something that will let you pull the jig up and the let it flutter back down several times, have caught a number of fish doing this. I like black and blue, black and black or brown and orange with grn. pumkin trailer. Hope this helps ... As Ever, skillet
