  1. You would think the braid would right? Well, just a few weeks ago I had an 1/8oz inline spinner for the shad run here and I was casting it further with 8lb Yo-Zuri hybrid vs 20lb J-braid by about 10 yards on the same rod/reel. I wasn't getting deep enough so I figured switching from braid would get me down a little, so I spooled on the YHB. The braid should be lighter, and possibly have less drag, but it wasn't getting the same distance as the copoly YHB. So I guess, the only way is to find out for yourself.
  2. This. When OTC meds don't work this is pretty much the only solution.
  3. Before I bought a boat, I thought about a fishing kayak. Then I found out even a fishing kayak had it's own rabbit hole to go down. Accessories, mounts, wheels, trailers, torqeedo, peddle vs fins, etc. Personally, I think all that innovation is terrific since it gives anglers the choice on how they want to fish, and what fits into their budget.
  4. This subforum is for fishing tackle discussion. Not whining about shipping delays and comparing Joe's Tackle Shop down the street that can ship me my order in 3 days, why can't Tackle Warehouse ship it in 3 days too. I'm glad people are voting with their wallet. But there's zero need to bash an online retailer, just spend your money elsewhere and be done with it. This is literally the first link on their website's news post: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com//catpage-SHIPUPDATE.html Tackle Warehouse Order Processing Delays Tackle Warehouse is experiencing order processing delays due to higher than normal order volumes and COVID-19 protocols currently in place. We apologize for any inconvenience. We are doing everything we can to get your packages out as quickly as possible. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. 5.17.21 - Shipping Delay Update --Orders placed by 12:30 PT-- Ground - 16 Days* GSO - 16 Days* Postal - 16 Days* International - 16 Days* UPS 2-Day** - No Delay* UPS Overnight** - No Delay* *Includes Weekends **Currently 2-Day & Overnight Shipping is Available, but $5 2-Day & $10 Overnight Pricing is Suspended. 5. The purchaser will probably have to record goodwill since this will most likely constitute a business combination for GAAP and be subject to impairment testing, and the purchase price allocation for taxes would probably yield a class VI asset which would be amortized for tax purposes over a 15 year life. Probably not a bargain purchase deal where assets would be written down to less than FMV. Anyways, I don't think any bass fisherman care what kind of acquisition it is as long as they keep getting 20 trick worms for $5.
  6. Finally got a decent one on top water. 2lber at Little Seneca Lake, water is up to 75 now and post spawn.
  7. That's something I'll have to check. Next time I redo my rod locker storage and pull them all out to access the batteries, I'll put the ultrex down and test amp draw, and then on the water test the speeds and figure out what's optimal.
  8. Learned that the hard way when I played in a Gary Williams charity golf tournament in 2002. He tee'd off with everyone on the 10th hole and he goes first. Drives pretty well for a 50+ year old guy, about 230yards. I go up hit my 5 wood about 260 straight down the middle. Never got invited back again.
  9. I guess, I just don't care. I can buy things at other places for $.50 more and be done with it. Life is too short to understand the mystical powers of online tackle retailing.
  10. Did I miss a new law that everyone has to buy from Tackle Warehouse or something? Did we lose the freedom to choose where we spend our money? Spend your money elsewhere if you don't like their processing speed, this isn't hard.
  11. I bought the boat new off the lot (i.e. not a custom build) and it already had the overpriced $800 quadpro 4 bank option installed and can't handle lithiums. But if/when I redo the electronics, I'll rewire the boat for lithiums and also add a DC alternator switch to the TM battery bank. The 31 AGM's were $159 before taxes, Duracell Platinums which are rebranded Deka's made by East Penn. Hopefully when I'm ready to rewire/repower batteries lithium will drop down a little more.
  12. Good point, I don't think the amp draw is linear based on a post from another forum. I may just have to run across the lake at a lower speed.
  13. I have an electric lake only that is pretty big. I'd like to get 5-6 hours of fishing there and the group 27 wet cells that came with my boat weren't cutting it, I could only get about 3 hours tops. I put in some Duracell Platinum group 31 AGM's, rated for 105AH and 200 min reserve capacity. The max draw for the Ultrex is about 50amps on speed 10. If I aim to deplete the AGM batteries by 60%, my math seems to be that I'll only get about 1 and a quarter hour of full speed operation. (105AH / 50amp * 60%). I obviously don't plan to zip around the lake on speed 10 the whole time, but there are some parts of the lake that are 2-3 miles apart and it takes 20-30 mins to move from one part to another. Is my math right? I'm trying to figure out how I can stay out on the lake longer.
  14. Hit Mattawoman at Slavins at 7AM yesterday with a plan to fish the incoming tide. The pads looked pretty good, but there's no sign of hydrilla yet and the water temp in the main creek was 71 but the water was really muddy and stained, about 3" visibility. I headed up the creek and started on some pad edges with a popper after seeing lots of topwater activity. I think I saw fry balls being pushed around, and moved some fish but nothing was committing to the lure. I headed further back up a creek arm and the tall grass was moving and thrashing everywhere. I thought maybe it was snakehead spawning, but it was carp and gar. There was so much commotion I figured everything else must have been spooked by the noise so I headed towards areas I didn't hear spawning and also looked for some cleaner water. I couldn't find either and ended up with just one bite all morning, something took off a tail off my paddletail. I was off the water at Noon, and probably won't fish back here until June, hopefully the warm weather will kick start the hydrilla to clean up some of the mud and the spawning gar and carp will be done.
  15. Maybe a Loomis 843MBR? I have the GLX 844C and while it's listed as a heavy, it's more like a MH power rod. I'm thinking going down the 843 may be what you're looking for. The MBR action seems just up your alley though.
  16. Finished tightening some bolts on my TM after hitting a log last week. Such a PITA to get under the electronics and wiring under the bow, my arms are all cut up from edges down there. Feeling like I will kill off this bottle after that clusterF.
  17. Yep, soft swimbaits can be fun. Don't open up the hard swimbait can of worms...Oh, then there's also swim jigs (weedless or open hook) and ripping them through grass and getting thumped hard. Sounds like an awesome day on the water, cheers!
  18. Depends on the hook and line, if it’s a light wire hook around light cover and light line, yes less drag to keep the fish pinned and not break the line. I've wacky rigged with 3/0 EWGs before in heavy pad cover and tighten the drag down to haul fish out ASAP.
  19. It’s enough, more than enough if you’re dropshotting or Ned rigging.
  20. I have a Deeper Pro+, and it has been handy for a few places I like to bank fish that do not allow boats. It works well, except minimum depth for a reading has to be about 2’, usually not a big deal since I’m looking for structure changes anyways. It’s worth the $200 or so if you’re bank fishing a lot. I throw it on a small 6’6” catfish spinning rod with 65lb braid using a lob motion and have had no issues, sometimes I outcast the wifi range.
  21. Can we start throwing some dates on the board? Summer becomes harder for me because of family trips. Here are some dates I'd propose: 5/22 & 5/23 5/29 & 5/30 6/19 6/27
  22. Hit Little Seneca Lake around 1:30PM yesterday, it was windy, but I found protection in the back cove by the townhouses. I threw a weedless underspin with a 3" keitech around timber and immediately had 2 fish, but lost both. I was fishing them on an BFS rod with 8lb copoly and I felt like I just couldn't get a good enough hookset so I switched over to my M/MH Tatula with braid and that did the trick and landed a decent 2lber. The banks were crowded with a lot of people back here. I think they were mainly fishing for crappie but I didn't fish a lot of shoreline to give them room. I ended up catching a 11" crappie, and several small yellow perch and a greedy green sunfish. I did break out the popper rod on a small section where it just looked so right, but the only action was green sunnies nipping at the tail feathers. The water temps were consistent throughout the lake, 64/65 degrees in both the deeper and shallow sections. I didn't see a lot of beds and no LMB cruising around the shoreline so either I was in the wrong section to look for beds or they haven't hit full swing yet. I talked to 3 yakers at the launch and they also didn't see any good spawn signs.

Asian food stores that have live fish will usually get craws seasonally. Since they’re a good store they can get them imported from LA and the likes legally.
  25. LED light strips are cheap, and you can do interior lights, front nav lights, even trailer bunk LED lights.
