I saw on some YouTube channel, don't remember the name, that the state DNR and local law enforcement are building a case to turn over to the District Attorney. How true that is, I don't know. I hope that it's true.

I've read that too, don't know how true it is though. Listening to the video, the second place team had 16 lbs. From what I've read, these cheaters fish weighed 25 lbs w/o the lead. Assuming that's true, they had the thing won w/o cheating.

I've tried it all, have no use for floro. Other than my carolina rig/ flipping rod, I've gone back to all mono. As soon as I run out of braid, I'll be changing that rod back too.

I try to keep up with fishing, on the business side of things. I hadn't heard anything about that. I checked Rapala/Normark and they aren't listing Bagley as one of the companies under their umbrella. I did find that Northland Tackle either owns Bagley or is in some sort of an alliance with them. Is the Rapala purchase of Bagley new? To the question, it also helps when retailers purchase in bulk.

I couldn't agree more, all bait companies copy each other. I've seen one of the Ozark Trail baits in question, the "Hammer Hog". While I've not seen every creature bait ever made, I've never seen one with the body of the Hammer Hog.

I use 6:8.1 for all of my casting reels with the exception of my carolina rig rod and my pitching rods. They're 8.3:1.

I've got my dad's Old Timer pocket knife, don't know the model number. He bought it in the late 60's or very early 70's. It's put up and I never carry it. Means to much to me to take a chance on loosing it.

Can't go wrong with any of them, they're all good boats. Resale will probably be a little better on a Ranger.

Way back in the 80's, Walmart's house brand soft plastics were called "Renegade". They had a motor oil color that was second to none. I should look and see if Ozark Trail has the same color. I don't know who actually made them, but I wish I did.

So if I'm reading this correctly, we use a composite rod for spinnerbaits, bladed jigs and buzzbaits for the same reasons we use them for crankbaits and topwaters? The soft or slow, more forgiving top portion of the rod. Thank you for the replies.

I watched an old KVD spinnerbait DVD yesterday. In it, he said that while he uses graphite rods for spinnerbaits, some folks use glass or composite rods. I've read that some use glass or composite rods for buzz baits and chatterbaits/ bladed jigs too. My question is why? I understand and use crankbait rods for treble hook baits and I guess I understand using them on buzz baits. I just don't understand the advantage of using them on spinnerbaits and chatterbaits/bladed jigs. Thank you

I've fished Rooster Tails, and other similar lures for years. I've fished them both ways, with and without swivels. Years ago on Yakama Bait's (Rooster Tail parent company) website, I saw a modification that eliminates the need for a swivel. It's not on the website anymore, hopefully I can explain it. Take your needle nose pliers and bend just the line tie portion 90 degrees. If you bend the shaft closer to the body, it could add pressure to the clevis thereby slowing the blade rotation. I bend mine where the line tie is inline with the shaft, but I don't know that it matters. This mod works.

I'm a bit of a gear head. I've bought some old drag cars, NASCAR and ASA/ late model models. There are no hobby shops near me, so I'll look into ordering the glues you mentioned. I have a Hobby Lobby about 45 miles away but they don't carry Tamiya or Plastruct glues.

I've recently started building model cars again. I built them from childhood up until I was in my early 30's. My mother in law got me one for Christmas and kinda kick started the hobby for me. I've been collecting some out of production kits to build this winter. I'll need to get some paint and glue. Thankfully I kept my modelling tools

I used to shop at Flipper's when I lived in Nashville back on the 80's and 90's. You're correct, it's a great tackle shop. Hopefully someone will pick it up. There are two "mom and pop" tackle shops fairly close to me (40 miles away) in Monroe, LA. The Honey Hole and Toledo Tackle. I prefer The Honey Hole, but that's just me.

Go for it @CrashVector! One of my most memorable smallmouth catches was on Center Hill Lake in middle TN using micro lite tackle. I still have the rod, reel, line and bait hanging on my shop wall in retirement. I was using the old 48" Quantum Micro lite rod and reel, two pound test Stren line and a 1/16th ounce Rooster Tail, black with a gold blade. Caught a smallmouth that was a little over 3.5 pounds. Remember it like it was yesterday.

For what it's worth, when I replaced a St. Croix under warranty, they used FedEx. I had to send them the broken rod, which they did replace, for "evaluation".

I own a copy of "I Fish, Therefore I Am and other observations". It's a compilation of three of his books, "A Fine and Pleasant Misery", Never Sniff a Gift Fish" and "They Shoot Canoes, Don't They?". It's such a good book and some of the stories will literally make you laugh out loud. RIP Patrick McManus

I too despise digital books and magazines. I own a pretty good fishing library, both new and old books. Been a proud member of B.A.S.S. since 1987. Love Bassmaaters and In Fisherman magazines.

If this makes sense, I'll "toot" the horn to let someone know I'm there. I never just lay on the horn. It makes me mad when people have done it to me, so I don't do it to others. There are very few reasons to hammer down on the horn.

Like the rest of you, I own a ton of crankbait's by all of the major manufacturers. My confidence crank? It's an Academy Sports house brand, H20 Express medium diver in craw red. I don't know the stocking number. My old fishing buddy even gave it a name, Ol Red. The bill is beat up and the body chewed up now but it still does the job. I keep fresh Gamakatsu hooks on it.
