  1. Things must be getting pretty interesting at mlf/bpt. Just heard on Luke Dunkin's podcast that redcrest winner Bobby Lane may be joining other bpt angler's in abandoning the ship.
  2. I'm praying for your father, you and your family.
  3. I'm a huge Vols fan and love the fact that we won. I'm in Ennis, TX for the NHRA Fall Nationals and could only keep up with the updates on my phone. Between every run I was checking my phone. Heck yes! Go Vols!!!!!
  4. The set I have now was around $39.00 at Harbor Freight. That was pre economic downturn/ inflation so they're probably more expensive now.
  5. If you're not using LED lights, make the change! If you blowing bulbs and don't want to go to LED lights, go to the auto parts or hardware store and buy some die electrical grease. Remove your bulbs and smear a film of the grease on the bottom and the base of each bulb. I even put on the connection between the truck and trailer. Do it at least annually and your problem will be solved. That's assuming it's not a ground issue. Even if it is a ground issue, die electrical grease is cheap and it works. I even put it on the base of all of our exterior and patio bulbs.
  6. If on Monday morning, B.A.S.S. were to increase the Elite's field and welcomed all of the angler's that went to mlf/bpt back without having to requalify, the majority of the angler's would return. Sure, the few guys that are doing well and the angler's that are in the ownership group would stay, plus some of the others, but I bet more would return to B.A.S.S. then stay. @Stratocat_Joe, Clunn's strategy is still a great tournament strategy. Worry about getting a limit first, then try and upgrade.
  7. mlf/bpt following the lead of B.A.S.S.! You know what they say, "Imitation is the sincerest from of flattery." mlf/bpt is working very well for a few of their angler's. I'm sure that Jacob Wheeler, Dustin Connell (sp?) and two or three others would agree with Micheal. I find it interesting that more and more mlf/bpt angler's are trying to jump ship and requalify for the B.A.S.S. Elite Tour.
  8. I leaned heavily, and really appreciate @MN Fisher during my build. Ken is a valuable resource and a doggone smart man! He's right about tinboats.net and Mighty Max batteries. I bought a 100 a/h lithium battery from them. Great battery and they beat the pants off of everyone else's price. Excellent pricing, didn't charge sales tax and free shipping.
  9. Another good YouTube channel is Bass Brothers Fishing DMV. He does some amazing work.
  10. My biggest problem is nothing in my boat was square. It was originally a 16'X50" duck boat made by a local, small boat builder. They have an excellent reputation as a tough boat. Anyway, it has a gun box that I modified into a rod locker and a front deck with a storage locker. I added another rod locker and large storage compartment using the factory compartments to build off of. They were about 3/4 of an inch out of square. Finally decided to shim everything to square and cover it all with decking. You can't tell at all until you open a lid. I also rewired everything, new trolling motor, onboard charger, recessed t/m tray and micro pole. So far, so good. The plan is to redo the trailer this winter. Hopefully @MN Fisher will respond. His rig is one of the nicest I've seen.
  11. I can't name a specific bait. That said, no matter where I go, I always keep at least one crankbait tied on and I have the confidence that I'll catch them.
  12. You're right, when I was still working p/t at BPS, we were constantly restocking the Slider jig heads. We all used to joke about it because it was rare for a customer to ask one of us where they were, but they flew off the pegs. In the store that I worked at, Slider jig heads were easily in the top three that were sold.
  13. I love oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits for breakfast. I add a little butter, small amount of maple syrup and a few chopped pecans. Learned that trick at Cracker Barrel.
  14. I've got a BPS 100 mph set of rain gear. Like @Jig Man said, not for the summer. Used to have some Frog Toggs for summer, they were great but I have no idea where they are now. Probably need to buy some more.
  15. You're right, can't find a nicer group of people. I met either Charlie's daughter or daughter in law at a fishing expo. They were over the top nice
  16. While in the Army at 19 years of age, one of my wisdom teeth started giving me problems. I had a Lt. Col. for an oral surgeon. I asked him to get all four if possible. One of my best decisions!
  17. First, let me say that I don't fish in the coldest part of winter anymore. That said, I keep a crankbait of some sort tied on year round. Buzzbait/top water, once the water hits around 60. Spinnerbaits, pretty much year round. Bladed jigs, spring through fall. Swim jig, I'm still trying to learn them.
  18. Like @Kirt Howe said, I'm best at loving my beautiful wife. I'm truly crazy about her. Fishing, organization and preparation are a couple of my strong areas. Crankbaits are my confidence baits. Give me a crankin' stick, BPS Platinum casting reel, 10 pound test and a crankbait, I'm catching them.
  19. Kyle Welcher said that fishing the new Opens is about $13k cheaper than the Elites.
  20. Happened to me and my buddy on Norris Lake in east TN. We would catch one here and there on "normal" sized baits. I kept a few ultra light baits in the boat. He tied on a gold/ black back Rat L Trap on a light action spinning rod and proceeded to wear them out. Me, I was to stubborn to change to my own baits! Go figure
  21. When I worked for BPS, Pure Fishing, parent company of Trilene and Stren, made Excel. For anyone who wants to know, Sunline made the floro line. I don't know if those companies still make their line or not. You're right, BPS does stand behind their products. Right now, I'm 99% mono and all I use is Excel but I've had my spools for a while. Never have any problems with it. I use braid on one rod, only because I still have a spool in stock. Once it's gone that rod will be mono too. I have toyed with the idea of trying McCoy copolymer, just haven't pulled the trigger.
  22. I've got around $20.00 tucked away in my truck, just in case. No ramp fee's where I live....yet. I usually keep a $100.00 bill folded up in my wallet, again just in case. Other than that, I rarely have cash in my wallet. I'll pull some out of the bank in a couple of weeks because we're going to the Fall Nationals in TX. A trip is pretty much the exception.
  23. I'm with @Jar11591, I'm pretty much a half day guy nowadays. Six hours is pretty much my maximum. Used to go daylight to dark.
  24. I agree! A lifetime ban on either one of them obtaining a fishing license is in order.
