New boat company?
Did anyone see Jacob Wheeler's YouTube video teasing a new boat company? Saw more on Bass Blaster, looks like Hydro-Sport boats are returning to the bass boat market. In the video, Wheeler's boat looks nice, so did the overhead still shot on BB.

How many rods?
After selling 15 combo's and giving away another 6, I'm down to 12. I built in 6 rod tubes in my jon to bass boat, so 6 is what I carry as a rule. Sometimes I carry a couple on the deck if needed.

TW backordered wait?
I gave up on TW year before last. Their shipping times are terrible. If it were me, I'd cancel the order.

Yes, Merry Christmas to one and all. Thank you for your expertise and willingness to share. I can only hope that I have helped as much as I have been helped.

Your Work Ethic
My father was born in 1918, mother was born in 1924. Both raised on east TN farms and both remembered the great depression. My father had to quit school to work and help out. Finished school in time to join the Army Air Corp. Later became an electrician, then an electrical engineer. He was without a doubt the smartest, hardest working man that I have ever known. We worked together clearing land to build our house on, installed our water lines, driveways, etc. His motto, why pay someone when we can do the work ourselves. He demanded hard work from me and he was a profectionist. Don't misunderstand, I wasn't mistreated and he was working just as hard, right beside me. I resented it then, but after school when I was in the Army and later in my career I appreciated it. I'm also a profectionist, maybe not to his degree but if I'm going to do something it will be done right. I loved my mother and father, miss them everyday.

Winter is coming...
I don't live in the north, but I don't fish December through mid February. Like @MN Fisher, I do reel maintenance, tackle organization, boat maintenance. I am going to add a compartment for life jackets and miscellaneous stuff in my jon boat.

Biggest Risk?
I don't know just how risky this really was Back in the 80's, I was fairly stifled promotion wise. I was in law enforcement working for the state of TN in Knoxville, my home town. There just weren't that many opportunities to move up. Without knowing a soul, we packed our stuff and moved to Nashville after my lateral transfer was approved. Worked out great for me. After a couple of years, I moved to Corporal, then to Sergeant and finally to Lieutenant. After moving back to Knoxville and retirement I started over again with a local Sheriff's department. Made it to Sergeant again before hanging it up completely.

Mississippi State Football Coach Mike Leach Passes Away
I'm a diehard TN Vols fan but for some reason, having never stepped foot on the campus, I've have always liked MSU too. Praying for the Leach family and the MSU family. RIP Coach Leach, you were definitely one of a kind.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I want to brag on myself a little. Since mid October, I've gone a little nuts. Purchased three new BPS Crankin' Sticks and Platinum Series reels. Last weekend my wife and I went to east TN to visit my grandchildren, son and daughter in law. I visited two BPS stores (Nashville and Sevierville, TN plus two mom and pops, I managed to not buy anything at all. My wife almost fell over. She even asked me twice, "Are you sure that you don't want anything?" I'm sure that the bait monkey will have it out for me in January.

Driving an OLD truck.
A several years ago, I had a 1970 Chevrolet C-10 pick up with a 250 six cyl. Drove it like she was for years. Decided to do a frame on restoration. Drove it for a few more years, gave it to my son then we sold it to get him a newer car. I wish that we had kept it, so easy to work on. I keep thinking that I'll buy another old truck to drive around.

Are you doing it right?
I don't know if this counts or not. Other than one rod and reel set up, I use straight mono for everything. Once the braid on that rod wears out, it will be straight mono too.

Anyone had experiences with St. Croix Warranty?
I broke a St Croix a few years ago (2018). Like you, it was the first outing with the rod, broken tip. I did have to send my broken rod back, but I'm pretty sure that they paid the shipping both ways. I could be wrong. It wasn't a bad customer service experience. If you live near a BPS, they'll usually give you one of the cardboard rod tubes that their rods are shipped in if you ask. If not, maybe your local mom and pop tackle shop might have some? I got mine at BPS.

What makes you choose a body of water to fish?
Anymore I try to stay within an hour of home, so proximity does make a difference. I do take two or three long distance fishing trips a year, mainly to east TN.

Question for men over 55
I guess I come at it from a different angle. I couldn't stand my ex wife, still can't. We were married for 30 years. Seperated once, came back because our youngest was still at home and in school. Stayed a little longer due to convenience I guess, maybe the fear of the unknown. I decided that my happiness was way more valuable to me than anything else, so I packed my stuff and left. Now, I was retired so there was no job to consider and my youngest was on his own. Paying alimony sucks, but is an awfully small price to pay for happiness. I have remarried since to my old high school girlfriend that I was once engaged to. To say that I am happy now would be an understatement.

Remember Pearl Harbor Day Dec 7th 1941
My Dad served I the Aleutian's too! He was in the old Army Air Corp, stationed at a radar outpost. I always remember December 7th and the attack on Pearl Harbor. I also remember 12/07/81 as the day I ets'd out of the Army. Good times ?? I bet he worked in Oak Ridge! Those were some unsung heroes.

WWYD? Active Target 2? Return Force?
This is coming from a stock car racer from the 80's and 90's. You can chase the latest and greatest in technology if you want, but you had better have super deep pockets! I practically went broke racing and chasing speed. No matter what you choose to do, it will never be the latest and greatest in two to three years. If I were you, I'd go with what I have. For me, I tend to be more like Randy, but I no longer fish tournaments. I've got two Garmin Striker 7"s on my boat and they serve me well. Great boat by the way.
