line conditioners?
KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is an outstanding product. This conditioner binds with the line, reduces or eliminates memory and lubricates the line. This combination of features results in fewer backlashes which are easier to untangle. Many find that their casts are longer, too! 8-)

Whats funner to catch Large or Smallmouth Bass
I don't think that is the case, either. For the most part, lures that work best for largemouth also work best for smallmouth. The only differences in the species involve structure/ cover and current. Although largemouth certainly relate to structure, smallmouth always associate with it except when following bait schools in open water. Perhaps on some lakes smallmouth can be found in cover, but that is rarely the case in this region. For river fishermen, current is everything when targeting brown fish. By contrast, it's a rare occasion that a lazy green fish will be found in fast moving water. I catch them there once in awhile, but I think they're just lost or confused! 8-)

Jig and Pig work anywhere?
That's surprising, I'll have to give it a try! 8-)

Woo-hoo! That's a great afternoon. 8-)

Favourite Deep Water Techniques?
Yep, a 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade. My most successful technique is lifting the lure with long draws and letting it fall on slack line. Give that a try! 8-)

Whats funner to catch Large or Smallmouth Bass
They do get bigger but no chance do they fight harder. Especially since smallies dont get as big they fight very well. But because of the largemouths size I much prefer them over smallmouth. I also like the style of fishing for largemouths. You dont have to use little finesse plastics and grubs with jigheads or any of that stuff. Well, #1 The World Record Smallmouth is 11 lbs 14 oz. So, from a practical standpoint, the brown fish get just as big unless your're catching largemouth teeners all the time! It's true that largemouth have the potential to be larger, but for the vast majority of fisherman, 6-8 lbs is a fine fish. #2 If you are fishing "little finesse plastics" you're fishing the wrong lures and baits. Big fish like big meals. 8-)

Anyone still use trilene XL?
Well, Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, Gamma Copolymer and Maxima (monofilament) would be three to start with. 8-)

Wow! Stick Marsh/ Farm 13 really is "Bass Heaven". 8-)

Broken Rod
Why would you think a bass rod would be lake or region specific?

Gamma Copolymer
I have been experimenting with the line on a spinning reel and like it quite a lot. I plan to try a heavier pound test on a baitcaster in the near future. Several of our members have switched from Yo-Zuri Hybrid to Gamma Copolymer mainly, I think, because it does not create weak spots as noticably as Hybrid when you experience a "professional overrun". The line seems like a good option to me, but I am a little surprised that it commands such a premium price. 8-)

Anyone still use trilene XL?
Welcome aboard! Trilene XL is probably the most popular line made, with Stren being a close second. I suspect most fisherman have used these brands at one time or another. If you like it, I see no particular reason to change. However, if you experiment with other brands, I think you will find another you would like better. 8-)

Crucail or BPS
Yep...other thoughts. 8-)

Broke tip???
No, just get a tip and glue it on with Super Glue. The rod you have will be just as good as anything you can buy at Wal-Mart. I doubt it will effect the "performance" of the rod. :

Anyone still use trilene XL?
Nope, not even a consideration. When you don't care about landing bluegill, crappie, stocker trout or white bass, I think it's fine. Otherwise, there are much better options. 8-)

Yo Zuri Ultrasoft....you've let me down
Hey Fish Tank! I know you are a stand-up guy, but it's gotta be something else. I soak the new spools before putting it on a reel and spray the heck out of the line when I'm putting it on. I don't have an answer and I don't want to come across challenging your word, but it just has to be something else and I don't know what it could be. :-/

budget bassin'
Buy a combination on sale! The BPS Extreme with a Shimano Symetre (spinning) or Citica (baitcasting) would be a rig that will get you started. 8-)

Can bass hear fish finders?
Well, the Tennessee is a commercial river and very noisy. A trolling motor has no effect, but a big barge stimulates every fish in the river. When a barge comes by, you better be ready, you're goin' to get bit! 8-)

Crucail or BPS
For soft plastics I would choose the AVS68MXF or AVS70MF. For an "all-around" rod, AVC66MF. For jigs and small swimbaits (Mattlures Baby bass), AVC70MHF. My St. Croix are AS66MLF, AC66MF, AC70MM, ES70MF and EC70MHF. 8-)

I'm sure you would like the St. Croix Avid. That is my suggestion at or very close to your pricing point. 8-)
