  1. 1. Turn spinnerbaits into another "go-to" technique. 2. Learn to fish spoons, deep on structure. 3. Hook-up with another giant smallmouth! Merry Christmas!
  2. Spinning tackle: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft Baitcasting gear: Hybrid #12
  3. I have my 842 matched up with a Scorpion 1000 right now, but I'll certainly give the new reel a ride on that rod! As a permanent home, it sounds like I have a BCR893 in my future!
  4. There are no disadvantages and the knot really shines when line diameters are different. For same diameter fluorocarbon or copolymer lines, the Blood Knot is my choice.
  5. I have two dedicated rigs: St. Croix Avid AVC70MF/ Metanium/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 St. Croix Legend Elite EC70MHF/ Calais/ Hybrid #12 The choice is just a matter of lure weight. Mostly, I fish 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blades on the EC70MHF.
  6. JJ's Magic for jig trailers, MegaStrike for everything else. I only use JJ's at home and keep the trailers in tightly sealed bags. MegaStike is effective, economical, very "user friendly" and can be used anywhere without making a mess. The other important features are lubrication and longevity. One application is all you need. I do not believe either product is truly an "attractant", but I am convinced that fish hold longer. When JJ's Magic or MegaStrike is applied to "soft", soft plastics, hook-up ratios are noticeably improved. I also use MegaStrike on some hard baits.
  7. 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hook, thin wire. http://www.gamakatsu.com/catalog/worm.htm
  8. Lucky Craft Man, Thank you! -Kent
  9. I just received a Core 50Mg7 that needs a home. I'm considering the BCR893. Does anyone have this set-up? If so, how does it balance?
  10. Welcome aboard!
  11. Mine have been sent and should arrive in a day or two. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  12. THANK YOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS! -Kent
  13. Big O At last year's BassResource.com Roadtrip (Kentucky Lake), Big O spent time with all the guys sharing casual conversation. One of his comments changed a fundamental philosophy I had held for many years. Color matters...Even when you are enjoying a big bite with a certain color, you might do better with the RIGHT color!
  14. A big THANK YOU! to Redlinerobert. His gift is medicinal in nature. To be enjoyed at the end of a day, in front of a fire, with good friends and a fine cigar. MERRY CHRISTMAS! -Kent
  15. You need to spend some time reading through our library: "Fishing Articles" and "Tacklebox" at the top of the page. Read every article and the attached links. As a beginner, you'll get far more from the articles than from the forum. Another feature is "The Best Of BassResource" which covers a number of topics. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?virboard=gen_bass;num=1253486034 -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior

  21. I am Mr. Yo-Zuri Cobra SUCKED so much it was discontinued. It was a complete embarrassment to the company. :-X
  22. Does anyone have a couple Keitech Swim Impact that you would be willing to sell or trade for some Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo tubes? And/or some of these: http://www.marukyu.com/eng/ecogear/powerworm/grassminnow.html
