  1. I know you weren’t asking me but I do do both
  2. I do it when I don't feel like taking out the jon boat. Works for me in ponds which is mainly where I fish. You can't get to as good of spots on the shore compared to the jon boat but it still is really fun.
  3. Looks like its time to take out a big treble hook Jk... maybe, I have no idea if it is legal to snag them so I wouldn't recommend it unless you check the rules.
  4. That’s a hawg! Congrats!
  5. Many people would say tackle warehouse but for starters i would just go to your walmart. 1. booyah pad crasher frog natural color (other brands work too but not quite as well) 2. some senkos(yum dingers are much more affordable) 3. a couple chatterbaits white and black/blue 4. some jigs in black/blue and green pumpkin 3/8oz 5. black buzzbait There are just some suggestions. Good luck and welcome to Bass Resource!
  6. Might as well hop up to a baitcaster. The Shimano metanium dc is an amazing low cost reel also... but if it has to be a spinning the shimano Stella is an amazing reel for the money. Just kidding (surprise) the Pflueger Trion is an amazing reel and will last forever. I started with a spinning around 8 and I caught on really quickly and so that’s the way I recommend to others.
  7. Anybody else find it slightly funny that we have a 3 page long thread of how terrified we are of a bird (I will admit when I hear something behind me and turn around and see a goose about to eat me I almost wet myself)
  8. The gopro is the way to go IMO. The complaints on the wide angle are from people who either have an old one or don't know how to use it. The newer ones have settings on how wide of an angle you want which is awesome and it also has linear which means you don't get the fisheye effect. Next IMO none of the cheap knock offs take as great of videos. Gopros are proven to be clear and last long. I haven't tried the garman so that might be great but I do know you will be guaranteed good quality with a gopro. I have 2 gopros and absolutely no regrets with them. Good Luck!
  9. I know! That lure works it seemed like a joke at first but a friend was destroying them on it so I decided to pick one up.
  10. Wish we could catch some of those out of our little ponds in Nebraska
  11. WOW... That rat is awesome But seriously that is a sweet looking combo!
  12. Booyah toadrunner
  13. I just hate it when the bluegills take my rods
  14. I noticed that too, I use mostly lews and when I bought a shimano I would have to adjust to the thumb bar which could potentially make me miss a fish if I were to get a blowup out there and were to throw out a worm or something to try and get it to bite again. May seem small but for that reason the shimano doesn't get a ton of use.
  15. Thats awesome that you are doing that I should do one just a personal challenge some time (because I would get destroyed if there were other people involved)
  16. Thats a monster bass! Congrats!
  17. You must have the fastest possible reel for frog fishing... why? because the manufacturers said so But I actually really do like a faster gear ratio, I use 8.3:1 but it doesn't have to be that fast.
  18. I was just wanting to see what everyone's favorite baitcasting reel brands are. This will just be to give me and maybe other people an idea of what reel to get next. I see a lot of posts that are for example "daiwa or shimano" so this could help many people know what people prefer most. There are many brands out there and so it would be expensive to buy one of each to find out what you like the most out of all of them. I realize a lot of it is personal preference but that's ok I want to know what everybody prefers. I'm sure there is a good chance this has been asked before so sorry in advance if it has. Thanks! I am personally a lews fan but I am very open to trying something else that many people prefer, maybe I'll like it more than lews even.
  19. Can't answer your question but thats some great luck right there finding a hud!
  20. https://www.tackledirect.com/lews-ssi1sh-speed-spool-inshore-lfs-series-baitcasting-reel.html There is this one for $130 but it says it is unavailable so I dont know if they make them anymore but you might be able to find one.
  21. I always go wacky if I can get away with it... if there is to much vegetation or wood/other cover then I go weightless t-rig.
  22. Yep, they really are great reels, you can't go wrong with it.
  23. My dad has you beat, I took him fishing and he insisted on using a 6ft ml rod with 8lb mono. He ended up landing a nice maybe 5lb bass from the shore in an extremely pressured pond. Don't ask me how on earth that fish got hooked and came in. Oh yeah, I made sure to give him the crappiest frog i had thinking if for some reason he hooked a fish it would surely break him off.
