  1. I've used baitcasters and spinning for wacky rigs. After experimenting a bit with the two, for me I felt most comfortable with using T rigs, Carolina rigs, Florida rigs, etc with baitcasting and for whatever reason I love throwing wacky rigs on spinning better than baitcasters, it just feels right for me.
  2. Hey guys! So I bought a Shimano Chronarch mg50 today for a decent price and I inspected it at the place and everything looked great. Not till I got home, I examined it more and not sure how I missed this, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a problem or just some type of something? The reel spins smoothly and everything seems to be in working order. Thoughts? Thanks guys
  3. Very beautiful river, sad it's the only one I got to enjoy in Tennessee. I see you're from knoxville, seemed like a awesome town driving through.
  4. Patience and learning bass behavior
  5. Hey yall! Just wanted to share some pics and exchange story's. Just got back from a trip to Tennessee, went there for a graduation trip from college. Fished a river called the little pigeon river, awesome fishing and caught some new species of fish we don't really have down here in Texas, at least the part I live in. Also went hiking in the Smokey Mountains, which was great. Anyone have some good fishing stories from Tennessee? Didn't catch anything huge, but it sure was a lot of fun.
  6. Also want to point out, the maintenance, storage, and caretaking of a kayak are much more, lack of a better word, trouble free when compared to other boats, jon boats, bass boats, etc. I agree with you though, finding a bank somewhere not really accessible to get to by foot, is awesome.
  7. When it comes to fishing, my time is split between bank fishing and kayak fishing. Like many have listed already and you pointed out, Its a joy of how many places that open up when in the kayak, you have the ability to slide in smaller places a boat cannot go. I currently have two kayaks, a cheaper pelican 10 footer sit on top, and a little more expensive feelfree moken 12.5 footer sit on top. When the time is right, I will probably eventually get a boat whether that's a jon boat or whatever. But to wrap it up, kayaks to me are super versatile and one of the parts I love the most is the easiness of transporting it, I figure not as much of a headache as a full size boat.
  8. Gonna have to give it a try, I've become a big worm fisherman in the past year or two.
  9. Heck yeah, thats awesome!
  10. Shimano has treated me well, and I have steadily been selling off my other brand reels to replace them with shimano. For your price point, I would check out the chronarch.
  11. As far as Cooper goes, I've only had the Cooper Adventurer H/T before and they offered a smooth ride! Huge fan of Coopers, good tires and warranty. Now if you want to stay with all terrains, the current tire I have on my truck are Nitto ridge grapplers, I cannot express enough, these tires are the best tires I've ever had. Like I said I'm a fan of cooper, but these tires were even more smoother than the coopers on the highway, and they are A/T. They've got me out of a full deep spots offroad and offer great traction. Fantastic tire, and if you don't believe me, just search them up and you'll see a ton of positive feedback.
  12. If you like the dobyns, stick with it, upgrading to a fury from a colt, is a world of difference and I think it'll make you enjoy dobyns rods even more. Now if you haven't been a fan of dobyns, switching to lews may not be a bad idea.
  13. Thats crazy, saw the pics, what a mondo!! Fish of the lifetime right there
  14. I feel you sir! I live right down the road from you and somehow haven't lost power like the rest of the people around here. Can't believe we are getting more snow today, may even be more than the first time.
  15. Welcome fellow texan! Hope you are handling that snow storm well! It's hitting us hard down here in San Antone

    Welcome !
  17. I'm sitting 24th rn! Never played this before so I'll consider that good lol
  18. I choose from about 30 or so pocket knives of what I'm gonna carry for the day lol. Ranging from case, buck, moore maker, old timer and a few other brands. Now if I'm going out to the woods or such I bring a o'l bowie.
  19. Back when I first started fishing, I was fishing in the backwoods of a creek with a buddy of mine. I had ordered this crankbait I got online, don't remember the name of it but it was about a 10-15 dollar lure. I casted and it landed on a tree stump I assume about 10 feetish from the bank. Without hesitation, I took off everything I was wearing and went for a dive. It was winter time here in Texas and boy that water was chilly. Got that lure back and continued to fish lol. Another time I was fishing from my yak with a buddy, posted it here not too long ago. Fell in and lost my keys and other items. Tried diving for those guys, but it was like 25-30 degrees out and was afraid of getting hypothermia. Gonna head back out there during summer time and see if they are still there!
  20. I fish slow using worms and such. When I have a good feeling about a spot and I'm using soft baits I'll throw out there and let it sink and sit for a few amount of seconds and reel it in a bit and then let it drop in the spot again. Sometimes slowing down and focusing on feeling helps a ton too, in my case.
  21. Look at that mondo! Congrats!
  22. I live in Texas as well OP and use moss color braid as that is what is in abundance in my stores and two I don't give color of line much of a thought. If you are one to care much about color, I feel that moss green blends in better with our waters as most of our waters has a green tint to it. I do not use leaders on my braid set ups.
  23. A few months ago I got into meal prepping my lunches for the week. Before that, I never really experienced with much.
  24. I would throw a worm, probably a senko style bait. These type of stick baits catch fish year round and can be very rewarding.
  25. Congratulations on graduating soon! I am graduating this semester and am a criminal justice major with my minor in environmental science! Those ES classes sure are something else, I'll tell you what.
