  1. I picked up a 40 for the sale price. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. Looks like a fish catcher to me
  3. Very good post. Keeping all that in mind.
  4. I am 1 for 2 on rods ordered. First one was in a huge box with no padding and bent about in half. Rod was broke about 6 inches from the tip. 2nd one wasn't much better but was in some plastic and survived..
  5. I use those same ones for my plastics storage and most of my fly tying materials. The next size up I store all my extra hardships in.
  6. First fly reel I ever used. Bluegill fishing and my buddy let me try his...... began an interesting hobby for me..

Academy has been my go to online store the last year. Cabelas is 30 minutes away but have been very disappointed in their store and their online deals have gone down hill recently.
  8. I have the catch 120 and I am 6'2" with a bum knee...12 footer for you
  9. Yea you did good getting 8 years out of it...
  10. I have one and enjoy it as my kayak rod. No issues here.
  11. I had a baitcasting combo and it was ok. I just got a Carbon Fire rod and it is very nice..
  12. I have ordered a bunch from them a few years ago and absolutely no issues...
  13. Just got the yak attack yesterday and need to mount it
  14. Cabelas usually has some good combos..I would start with a 8-81/2' 5 or 6 wt...That will get you started on bluegills or trout...Bluegills and poppers are a great way to learn on a lake as you can focus on non moving water and seldom have to worry about your backcast...then you can start to tweek your casting as you get the feel for things. A 6 wt will handle smallmouth on smaller flies but if you are wanting largemouth and big flies you will have to move up to an 8 wt. As other have said focus on a decent WF line..The reel is just to hold line.

Now I can justify having about 30 of them ready to go......And of course a new frog rod set up.
  16. Took my kayak out today and found some topwater action. Went 4 for 10 but most were small. First frog action for me. This was my first and biggest fish at 15 inches. I was not prepped for froggin but luckily had one in my box.
  17. Last year I got all my merch in a pretty timely manner. Just seems weird they would advertise the free stuff now but the fine print says only purchases made between Aug 1 - 30
  18. Just a heads up to anyone buying Lews gear this summer. The rebate they advertise is good for purchases only in August. Not sure why they are posting them now but I just read the fine print on the rebate form..
  19. I am very happy with my Pelican Catch 120. I can car top in on the jeep or toss it in the back of the truck. I am 6'2 and 265 and no issues....
  20. I just bought a couple Dobyns Fury rods this winter to try out this year. I also picked up a couple Ardent Pro series rods to try. Last year was my first year to really try and target bass so I am still on a huge learning curve..
