  1. My own brother was an easy going guy. He was sent to Vietnam and came back a different person. It took some time for him to get on track again. So, I understand helping our veterans. I have done this at times also. It's important. I say you did the right thing.

1990 for me. 8lb 2oz LM bass. Mann's Jelly Worm, black.
  3. Fenwick HMG medium spinning. Around 100.00
  4. Go Chiefs!! A hard fought game!!
  5. I think many of us do this.
  6. The last few years I've paired down. I don't carry nearly as much as I used to, and I can still catch as many fish as I always have.
  7. Last fall, I spooled Yo Zuri hybrid 4lb. It handles good and is very strong. I'll be using it again this spring. On another rod I'm using 6lb P Line cx. Both these lines are good IMO. I like P Line cx also. It's thinner diameter, strong, and cast and winds well also. I've had good luck with it. But I think YoZuri Hybrid in 4lb is more popular.
  8. I don't remember this one? Was it a hard bait?
  9. If no limits to anything, I'd have rods custom made in my length, handle style and color of my choice. Reels would be Shimano Calcutta casting, and probably a Shimano spinning reel, of my choice. I like Shimano reels, and have seen some really nice custom rods. Four is all I need. Two casting, two spinning.
  10. Correct. The Little George tailspinners was named after George Wallace, governor of Alabama in the early 1960s.
  11. Catt I know you like that one. The one for the quiz is not a line through style. Line tie is on top of the bait.
  12. My grandson has a Lew's G Spin. 8 bearings, thick bail wire, and very smooth. Good reel for around 40 bucks. His is mounted on a Fenwick Eagle rod. He's been using this combo for two years now with no problems.
  13. What well known tailspiner lure was named after a controversial governor of Alabama in the 1960s?
  14. What I've probably done is when I change color, I might change my retrieve a little without thinking about it. That may draw the strike.
  15. I have been fishing and things slowed down. I've changed worm color and drawn a strike. I'm still not convinced that color made any difference. It could have been anything.
  16. I'm pulling for the Chiefs. Whatever the outcome, I think it will be a hard fought close game.
  17. I think it impossible to say. We have lots of " bait monkeys" around here.
  18. Interesting info on this thread Tennessee Boy. In many ways I hope computers never know more than we do regarding fishing. We as fisherman need to learn about why bass strike, colors, retrieves and all else. Much is trial and error. That's what makes this sport so good, is always learning something new.
  19. Guido Hibdon talked about fishing the " nothing" looking banks. There would be no obvious cover, but a deeper water area close by. He often fished a light tube in these areas.
  20. A Zoom small chunk for a plastic trailer. Or, if you can get some, a #101 pork frog or #11 pork frog.
  21. Overall I'm in good shape to get started.Ive bought new line, just havnt spooled reels yet. I might pick up a new jerkbait to try, but if not I'm ready to go.
  22. Virgil was a class act. My dad and I watched his show often.
  23. Most of us have been inspired in some way by a famous bass fisherman. My own list is: Light tackle: Charlie Brewer and Billy Westmoreland. Texans Tommy Martin and Larry Nixon. From my home state of Missouri: Virgil Ward, Charlie Campbell, and Guido Hibdon. From California: Dee Thomas with flipping. Who are some famous fisherman who you have inspired you?
  24. This seems like good info overall, maybe for a novice? But I'd rather ask these questions to members here on BR. We've got lots of members who give very good info here on BR. And, it depends much on what part of the country your fishing in. A guy from Michigan will fish differently than a guy from Florida.
  25. I'll say ribeye is very good, and I like it. For me, to grill a steak, I like porterhouse the best. I usually have to split one with somebody, because I can't eat a whole one alone.
