Postal service
We live rural also. Our mail carrier is a trooper. We've had her for four years. Around three each day, she delivers our mail. She's always on schedule except in very bad weather. She takes a lot of pride in her job, and it shows.

Road To The Super Bowl 2023
I'm looking forward to next weekend. Should be some good games, regardless.

Shane with Allan Ladd. I've loved the gunfight scene for over 50 years.

Your Quiet Place
I fish a 7 acre quarry lake which is 15 min from my house. One end is natural rock wall, with water depth of 40ft. Some of the banks have large pine trees, with paths going through them made by bank fisherman years ago. In the spring, I'll see a few crappie anglers during the crappie spawn. But after this I see very few people at all. I sometimes fish a big reservoir also. Jet skis, large boats racing around, and plenty of partiers here also. The small lake has become my quiet place. I especially like to fish the small lake in the summer, from my canoe, and most always shove off at first light. It's a special place. An old lake that seems lost in time. It's my favourite place to fish. I think I'm lucky I found this place years ago. Do you have a quiet place?

Stuff you sprinkle on food.
I use Mexican seasoning if we're having tacos and stuff. But most times, good old salt and pepper works for me. Not too much salt. When you get older you have to be careful what you sprinkle on your food. At age 25, I could eat anything. Now at 65 things have changed.

Are these numbers for real?
They've been paying people off for years. And polluting waters in the process.

Are these numbers for real?
I understand this. But I'm Bull headed. I like my fish. Hell with these companies. They've been doing this crap forever. I don't like it either...

Are these numbers for real?
I love fish, and have eaten it all my life. Several species from rivers, lakes and ponds. Now I'm 65. Will I continue to eat fish? Yes. I'll also continue to eat bacon and eggs too. I've read the warnings. Just eat these things in moderation. You'll survive. I agree with Tom. Use cast iron pans to cook with. Teflon is bad news.

How did you learn to fillet?
I had a friend teach me on crappies about forty years ago.

Fist fights...
I was a skinny kid. I had many friends, but got picked on a little also, mostly by the same two kids at school. I never fought a lot. At age fourteen, I started working out at a boxing gym, and boxed three years in the Golden Gloves in Kansas City MO. I ended up winning my second year in the novice class. I weighed 114 lbs. It's a natural thing for boys growing up to challenge each other. Someone always wants to be the tough guy. I haven't been in a fight in over fifty years. I try my best to get along with people.

Living with regret......
My biggest regret is that I wish I would have gone to college and earned a degree. Instead I became a carpenter. I made good money, but beat myself up working so hard. I love my kids, grandkids and family. No other regrets.

Opinion on reel condition
I try and take the best care of my reels that I can. A little boat rash adds character. Kind of like a good cork grip that needs cleaning. It's a tool for fishing.

A Helping Hand
I was a sophomore in high school when this event happened. I read about it years later. In 1974, at a BA.S.S. event at Beaver lake in Arkansas, Billy Westmoreland saved the lives of Johnny Morris and his partner Bob Craddok. A tornado came through the area, creating dangerous conditions. Johnny Morris sunk his boat in this storm. The two men, ( Morris and Craddok,) were hanging on to a 6 gallon gas can. Both men were experiencing the early stages of hypothermia, and were praying out loud. Westmoreland spotted the gas can from the dock. Westmoreland told Ray Scott, " I think someone's in trouble out there". He took off, almost sinking his own boat in the waves and wind. When he got close he found Morris barely hanging on to the can, and Craddok with his arms around Morris's neck. Morris later recalled, "Craddok started laughing, and a large arm reached down, first separating us, then pulling us to safety". Billy Westmoreland later recalled" my boat was set up with dual bilge pumps. If not for that, we'd have been in big trouble". Two years later in 1976, Billy Westmoreland would author his famous book, Them Old Brown Fish, still considered a must read on the topic of smallmouth bass. Johnny Morris was forever grateful, after founding Bass Pro Shops, giving Billy Westmoreland two new boats each year, and all the tackle he needed. Billy Westmoreland had saved his life. Aside from being considered one of the greatest anglers in our sport, Billy Westmoreland was a lifesaver too. The big man from Tennessee, and one of my heroes.

Yes. I agree

I don't want to skip forward at all. I'm 65. Trying to get time to slow down now, or at least seem that way.

Old School Hard Jerk Bait : Smithwick Rogue Users ?
I fished them a lot many years ago, and still use them sometimes now. I like a med/hvy casting rod and 12lb line. The Rogue is a classic.
