  1. Often, I'll just change up the color combos and try three or four variations before I change the actual lure type. I'll keep on a spot that looks promising for several different lure types before changing spots.
  2. I'll occasionally take out the #11 Floating Rapala that I've had for a few decades. A couple years ago I put an Owner Oval split ring on it, and I think it works as well or better than a loop knot (that I've always had trouble tying).

Depends on how you hunt Archery is Sept 13 to Dec 31 Muzzleloader is Nov 29 to Dec 14 Youth and Early Antlerless is Oct 16 to Oct 19 Regular Firearms opens November 8 and closes at various times depending on your county - Nov 16 or Nov 23 Special southeast region Firearms is Nov 22 to Nov 30 And there's a special CWD management season the weekend of Dec 19 to Dec 21 Obviously Gim is a firearms kind of guy. Ya - it's complicated up here.
  4. My raw photos do that too....easy fix if you're running Windows on your computer. Open the pic with Paint, then just re-save it....should post correctly after that. Macs? There a paint program that comes with the OS...try the same thing with that.
  5. One thing I really like about the 'new' vehicle. Bluetooth link between my phone and the car. Total hands-free control of even my music.
  6. On the flip side of that, they can pull you over if just one brake-light bulb isn't working. They usually don't because it causes them more paperwork...but they're allowed to all the same.
  7. Charge them the same as 'texting while driving'. In MN first offense is $50 plus court fees, subsequent offenses are $275 plus court fees...and it's reported to your insurance company so your rates will probably go up as well.
  8. Ya - but these guys are mounting another pair of those 12" screens above the console. So they're trying to 'pay attention' to three large screens at once while whipping across the water at ludicrous speeds.
  9. Go Half-Dozen!
  10. ^ Three cases actually - one criminal, two separate civil suits.
  11. ^ Finally got around to watching the vid myself. I have no doubt that Davis wasn't paying attention to anything other than his screens. And for him to not even have a valid operator's license when it's required puts MLF clearly in the wrong as well. Personally, I hope the families suing MLF win and the organization has to have a major overhaul.
  12. Chalk that up to the DNR being severely under-funded.
  13. ^ What Boomer said - my frog reel is is just a Fuego CT-XS. Relatively low price, aluminum frame...good solid reel.
  14. And here I was going to suggest Bass Trek - with the cancer giving me a time limit, and my ankle making it impossible for me to launch/land her - she hasn't come out of the garage all year.
  15. Agree there - a 7lb fish is just too old and big to have decent flavor. That's why I stick with the 1.5lb-2.5lb bass. Much more flavorful and great with just some butter, salt and pepper and cooked in the broiler or on the grill. Or maybe spice it up a bit by doing what Catt would have and cook it Cajun Blackened. If you need tarter sauce to eat your fish, you're eating the wrong fish.
  16. DQ

^^ Which probably wasn't enough to cover his expenses. Personally I think they should change "typically forfeits" to "will forfeit"....you violate the rules at any point and you don't get paid - period.
  17. Daiwa Aird-X has a 6'6" Medium power and a 7'0" Medium-Heavy power in two-piece. $60 MSRP. The MH goes down to 1/4oz. I have the 1-piece MH and it's a really solid rod...performs way above it's price-point.
  18. DQ

MN Fisher replied to TnRiver46's topic in Tournament Talk
Ummm - maybe not. "In Major League Fishing (MLF), a disqualified (DQ'd) competitor typically forfeits any prize money they might have been eligible for
  19. I can't count how many discarded lengths of line I've picked up from around my normal shore spot. AND THERE'S A TRASH BIN NOT 30 FEET AWAY!!! Lazy morons.
  20. Maybe that's the reason my ankle has kept me away from the shore since mid-August...it knew I wouldn't have any luck. Maybe I'll get out again before the ice arrives.
  21. IIRC, Daiwa's patent on their Magforce-Z was running out. Now others can reverse engineer it without penalty.
  22. ^ Walleye are at least native to NA - Brown Trout were imported from Europe so are a truly invasive species that has been shoving Brookies and Rainbows out of the territories that they ARE native to.
  23. ^ I've got a few $200 rods in my arsenal, but bought on sale or even used (ALF Used market is GREAT) so haven't paid over $140 for any of them
