  1. ^ There's a very long list of requirements and the paperwork to go with it to certify something as "Made in America". Without that proof, you could be charged with smuggling and/or counterfeiting...pretty big fines there.
  2. Depends on the vendor. Back when de minimis was about to end, I got an email from Digitaka. They sent a coupon that takes 50% off the tariff that's good to the end of October. Might only be for customers registered on their site at that point, but it's a good deal. Also - JDM prices are low enough compared to USDM prices that the price+tariff is usually still lower when ordering from Japan than getting here in the States.
  3. ^ I use the 3" micro-snips myself, attached to a retractable lanyard clipped to my belt.
  4. One day at my normal shore spot, we got visited by a pair of pelicans. Was interesting watching them catch some fish
  5. Looks like a Quillback Sucker....same Order as Carp but a different Family....pretty much a trash fish.
  6. The wife had that installed....right?
  7. ^ They were also one of my targets when I was a kid fishing ponds in MA and RI growing up. They're actually pretty tasty IIRC.
  8. Go to Yo-Zuri Hybrid....most copolymer lines are just nylon monofilament with a coating of fluorocarbon on top...Yo-Zuri actually blends filaments of fluorocarbon in a matrix of monofilament.
  9. ^ For 1000 size, I like to keep it under .008 personally.
  10. Thanks. Considering that the rod is 6.5" above the 'deck', I think that 10k spool would fit on it no problem. I also use the butt-half of 2-piece rods for the other part of my 'spooling station', so there is a line guide between the spool and the reel.
  11. Or cobble something together from scrap aluminum...that's a 1000yd spool of 6# Siege on there.
  12. That would be me about 1963. 😁
  13. Is it the fuzzy kind of blurred like old soft-focus movies or the static kind of blurred like when the rabbit ears aren't quite right? I get the static type myself.
  14. Agree - tried Linux some years back but couldn't quite get the hang of it. Current computer is a laptop running Win-11 - but I've disabled what apps I can Don't use any Micro-snert apps - Firefox and Thunderbird for browsing and e-mail, VLC and MediaMonkey for my vid/audio playing, Libre Office for my 'Office' needs and NCH suite for any conversions I need to do.
  15. Great for mono and FC, but even my Fiskars have problems with braid.
  16. It's more about the balance than anything. Action and tip softness will be noted in the 'Action' of the rod - X-Fast/Fast/Mod-Fast/Moderate/etc
  17. Go to the store with the reel you intend to use - I'm sure BPS will let you put your reel on for testing. Then get a feel for it...try all three rods with that reel and figure the one that feels the best to you.
  18. I gave up on the Boomerang since I first tried the Cuda. https://www.amazon.com/stores/Cuda/page/F5FA223C-80F6-4B7F-8C91-877302FDADFD I use the 3" micro, but they go up to an 8" model that'll handle wire.
  19. Last 6 months more like it - beef prices, even the cheapest ground beef, has gone up 33%, chicken is up 25%, pork is up 20%...everything is either up in price or they're doing 'shrinkflation' - smaller net weight/volume for the same price. Being on fixed income trying to absorb those increases is straining our budget. Walk a mile in my shoes before spouting off inanities!
  20. My shopping for fishing gear has stopped completely because of inflation due to tariffs. It's come to a choice between fishing gear and eating.
  21. ^ No - a 'Mockumentary' sitcom - Canadian produced.
  22. What if it's Day 2 of the last tourney in BASS' Elite season and your position on the AOY chart is #71. You either fish your best to get to #70 or there's a good chance you're back to the Opens next year. Do you give up your spot to one of the one's who might make it into the top 50 or keep it to better your chance of staying in the elites the next season?
