Braid vs Mono line
^ Listen to 'The Captain'....between he and @WRB combined we're talking over a century of experience. Ya...I agree. First starting out with casting gear - a good, inexpensive mono is your best bet as you'll be cutting out/respooling. Big Game is probably the best for learning with.

Cooking/Baking Thread
I'm the chef since the wife can't stand at the stove long enough to even prep, much less cook. Linguini and Clams Shrimp Alfredo (yes, sauce from scratch) Tonight it's Mushroom Chicken...which is really easy.

Drop shot - Casting or Spinning?
I'm the weirdo again. I do quite a bit on spinning...including skipping jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits. If it's a finesse technique...for me it's spinning. (drop-shot, ned, wacky, shaky, neko....)

Bassmaster Elite at Lake Oahe
Finally got the leaderboard to load - and 1, 3, 7...not shabby at all. Prior to this one, I was at 79%...we'll see how this moves the meter. Nice to have two local boys finish in the top 10.

Help.....did I just smoke my new to me Garmin Striker Vivid 9sv?
Well,, as someone who's done hobby electronics for about 50 years, and does all the house wiring adds/changes (apprentice electrician way back when), I feel it's my duty to help those with wiring issues.

Help.....did I just smoke my new to me Garmin Striker Vivid 9sv?
There's these https://www.boatwireusa.com/products/22-18-awg-heat-shrink-ring-terminal-5-16-hole-25-pack 5/16 is standard post size - the supplied power cord for the sonar is normally 18awg. Heat shrink like this is a two-part process...insert wire so bare part is in the narrower part of the insulating neck...crimp it closed...then apply heat (hair dryer on high will work) and the insulation shrinks down with a bit of internal glue to make the connection waterproof.

Help.....did I just smoke my new to me Garmin Striker Vivid 9sv?
I would never use those clamps for a battery connection. There are ring terminals available where the ring will fit the battery post and the crimp will fit your wire. Don't 'slap-dash' the connection...that leads to problems like you've already experienced.

If you can use only one line...
Long as you don't 'abuse' them...they're fine Use the lighter line if mono/hybrid/FC...but braid is a good alternative My bass spinning arsenal is President 25 on a ML/F - 10# Sufix 832 to 6# InvizX leader - general finesse fishing President XT-30 on a ML/MF - 4#YZH - light cranks/jerks, secondary finesse President XT-30 on a M/F - 8# InvizX - weightless plastics, heavier Shaky/Neko, wieghted wacky Supreme 30 on a MH/F - 20# Sufx 832 - skipping duty as I can't skip with a BC to save my life I've got a couple Mitchells and a Lews for crappie duty....

If you can use only one line...
Pflueger's sizes aren't standard A Pflueger 30 is NOT a 3000 size...it's a 2500 size. Yes, I run Pfluegers and I have a Supreme 30 in my arsenal.

The latest sale thread
Unless you live in MN - crazy laws...since they have a physical presence here, they have to charge tax to MN residents on the mail orders too.

If you can use only one line...
I keep seeing people recommend 10# and even 12# mono. I'm with Tom ( @WRB ) that you shouldn't go above .010" diameter line on most bass reels - once you hit 3000 or 4000 size that's debatable. Those 10#+ lines are over .010" - most 8# is right on the line. So if you go with mono, hybrid or FC on anything less than a 3000 size reel - keep it to something that's .010" diameter or less...that's gonna mean 8# in most cases, 6# for others.

Which SLX DC gear Ratio
That'll work fine - looks like it's a 3/8oz spinner...they actually weigh a bit over 1/2 cause the printed weight is just the head, now add skirt, hook, wire, blades. I toss 3/8 and even 1/2 oz spinners on this rod

What's your guess as to how this happened?
Considering the trailer is the same width, if not wider...it would be involved in the flipping too. I'm going with IB's opinion...doctored image.
