  1. Ya - but the Large (which I take) is $22.49...still looking around at other options, don't need them until spring. Question: Why are different sizes different prices...especially the larger sizes are at lower cost?
  2. 1: Talk to Tom ( @WRB), he's from that area and knows what baits work and how to use them to best advantage 2: Most of my treble lures, I prefer a stretchier line and avoid braid. Used mono until the YZH was recommended...tried it and haven't looked back. The stretchier line helps keep the fish pinned on the lure - without it, most bass can shake the lure. I would use mono or hybrid before FC for cranks - while FC does stretch, it's initial start is after that of the other two, and once it stretches it doesn't rebound back like the others. If you used braid with leader, I'd still use mono or hybrid for the leader...and make it long - 15' minimum...short leaders don't give you the stretch advantage. I wouldn't go below 10# for cranks myself.
  3. Same here - I've even fought ice-flows on opening day which is the middle of May here. Wool, where-ever you can. Insulates even when wet.
  4. I wouldn't use a 7.3 for cranking, but there are those here that do...you just have to move your hand slower is all. Another option would a Shimano SLX - has a good following here.
  5. Ya - with bibs you get an overlapping layer on your chest and abdomen, so it's warmer.
  6. That's the one - put it in your cart and it'll show the model number.
  7. With TW's sale going on - you can get what I have for under $200 Dobyns Fury 705CB Diawa Fuego CT-H (6.3:1) I've been using 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid on that rig for 3 years...love it for cranks.
  8. One of the items in my wishlist is FT's entry level Ultra-Lite2 rainsuit (pants and jacket) - as a budget conscious person (read not much money to spend), it it worth it?
  9. One day special on Amazon NOCO Genius GEN5X2 - 5amp per bank, 2 banks - handles all battery types from FLA to LiFePo. List $164, regular Amazon price $129, today only it's $88. Yes I ordered one - it was on my list for the boat re-build...saving money is a good thing.
  10. They are - doesn't appear on Diawa's site anymore.
  11. Well, considering how close I am to Normark's HQ (parent co of Rapala) - it could be an issue. They might come knocking at my door.
  12. A little butter, a little salt, a little pepper, and broil it. I detest battered fish.
  13. When I gotta 'scrounge' to pay $60 for a reel on sale - what makes you think I can just 'drop' $250 for a reel?
  14. Rapala guy since the early 70s - they've done right by me, but now I'm starting to branch out. Still, 90% of my crank/jerk inventory is Rapala. Got a few as a gifting a few years ago...I got bit more with my Stickos and Zlinkys than the Senkos and the first two last longer as well. I actually lost a fresh Senko when casting...ripped right of the hook mid-flight and it wasn't even that hard a cast. If I was paying $0.75 a piece for the 5", you think they'd be close to as 'sturdy' as the $0.53 Zlinky or the $0.42 Sticko...which both of get good reviews from people who use them.
  15. Picked up a quartet of Red Eye Shads in 1/2oz on sale - next year find out if they're up to the hype.
  16. BF sales? New rod - Fury 765FLIP New reel - Diawa CA-80XS This is gonna be my flip/pitch/punch rig Side note - with that purchase, all my main BC rigs now have aluminum frame reels.
  17. I'm the odd-ball around here - for all my terminal knots I use what I call the MK knot for short...been using it a couple years now and no knot failures yet. Braid to leader - FG knot Backing to mainline - Uni-Uni Backing to spool - Arbor
  18. It has standard mag braking instead of the MagForce. It's also a smaller spool - 80 vs 100. So take that as you will. Pointed it out to the wife, and she freed me enough spare cash to get one...it's going on my 765 for my pitching reel.
  19. I had to spend money there - wife gave me a BPS gift card for my birthday. Got a few RES, a couple jigs and some replacement worm and EWG hooks. $50 card, spent $3.80 of my own money.
  20. That's when the rod-tip is vertical enough to put excess strain on the blank. Bringing your rod-tip to 1:00 when fighting a fish is tough enough on it...raising it to 12:00 greatly increases the chance of breaking the rod.
  21. Smaller lakes in the Minnetonka chain are socked in...errand today I saw that Emerald, Seton and Black are all 100% covered...not that I'd walk on it as it's probably still under 1" thick. Cooks Bay - there's ice from shore to about 30 yds out on the east side...west side of Spring Park Bay was clear. It's forming - so ya, start the countdown. I'm saying April 27th for here - it's a La Nina year, which means colder than average temps for us up north.
  22. I'm on my second account. Joined in 2009 - at the height of my time, I had over 400 'friends', member of 30 groups, co-moderator of 3 groups. I left in 2017 due to overload. Re-joined about a year ago. Currently have 6 'friends' - three people here, my wife, my sister and my brother-in-law. Member of 5 groups - all fishing related - and follow 47 pages; 8 bands/musicians, 1 software company and the rest are fishing related. I keep it low-key now...don't want to get like I was my last run-through.
  23. Gotta be the Chicago hub that got you - I had my BPS BF flyer last Tuesday.
  24. That one would do the job - and Dakota is a top-rated brand too.
  25. Anyone interested in a low-price Aluminum framed reel - Fleet Farm currently has the CA-80XS (8.3:1) on sale for $59.99 - that's $40 off retail https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/daiwa-ca80-baitcast-reel/0000000344454
